A couple of interesting races for me this week. Hero Grub, my up and coming filly, is entered in a G1 stakes race in KY, 0315, for a purse of $500K. For that kind of money I had to give it a try. I really wasn't ready for a stakes race yet but it is worth a shot for that kind of purse. Hope I don't ruin her with this one. At 19/1 adn the top jock for the track, I think she can come in at least top 5 and may even pull out the win. That is assuming 9f isn't too far for her.

Country Jodie, another decent mare, is running in a $50K mile allowance race, 1215. Every horse in this race is about evenly rated. 4 horses at 6/1 (including Country Jodie), 1 at 7/1, 1 at 8/1, and the rest at 9/1. I've got the 4th ranked jockey in this one.

I'm also trying French Iron who has shown success at 12f turf in a long dirt race. Hopefully will like the longer distance on dirt as well. This one is a restricted allowance.

A race I will be watching closely is 0601. My newborn (2yo colt) will be running his first race, a 6.5f turf event. He is only RTG, but I am going to run at 100% to see what happens.

That's the highlights from my stables. Didn't sign up all the sharp horses this week as I ran out of time. Good luck to everyone. I did notice I have one horse, Country Water running against one of toral's horses, "farm pond" or something like that. My daughter "allyfarms" has her horse slewpy bug entered as well and no way will I beat him. I'm probably putting Country Water down after this week just to be humane.

Good luck with Hero grub, STL...She certainly has been going well lately...Looks to be some good horses in that race...Considering the fav is ranked the 6th best female in the sim(I assume thats what the div. ranking means)Hero has fared pretty well as far as the oddsmakers go at 19/1, i think...

I've got 3 with real genuine chances i think..Bee stacking(3011-3/1), Paunchi's horses(0514-6/1),who will probably have to go 100+ to win, and Pepi undercut(2702-6/1)...

3 or 4 of the others are maybe's ...If things go well they have a chance of getting itm..

The others I'm crossing the fingers and hoping again...Most of them are in the Pepe stable and really should've been bred away or auctioned or something...I am going to have to get more ruthless with this lot...

Fairly quiet this week. Since bidding for races has started, I keep finding that races I've trained horses for are disappearing leaving sharp horses with nowhere to run. I've just started researching the bidding place to check and see if my race is likely to disappear, but it's a pain and adds another step to the process.

Dan's Forest and Secret Penguin are 7-2 and 5-1 but both are only RTG. Their next real races are 2 weeks away, so I'm tossing them in stuff in the interim. I figured out that DF (#45895) likes to go more than a mile (Doh) but can't find races in that category. Might have to ship her back home if this keeps up.

Mine Devastation is 5-1 to finally win an allowance in 3809 NH. It's Windy Pond, just now unblocked, going up against stlcards in 4208 WI. Don't worry -- I don't think this horse will ever give anyone reason to remember his name.

2 most interesting races are allowance attempts by horses who have been hanging around the fringes or putting up good performances. Hank's Rattles tries to replicate that 108 of 2 races ago at 5.5 f. The last 7.5 was clearly too long for him. Napkin Kicking tries a $36.6 allowance in 0208 FL.

Good luck to all.

Hero Grub ran a slow 89 in her stakes race and finished about 9th. Had more to do with the distance I think than anything. At least I confirmed that 9f is not her distance.

A nice surprise for me was Nine Rally, a 3yo Forty-Niner progeny I got on claimers a while back. Previously ran mid 70's. This week poured it on for the win running a respectable 93SP. And to think I was ready to dump him this week.

Lost Duke Ice this week in a $4k claimer, but I want to trim my rosters anyway and he didn't have what it takes to stay. Ate too much and didn't like to be sharp. Ran about a 5th I think.

My new 2yo homebred filly ran a 58 at 6.5f turf. Was only ready to go and is now needing rest. Should have ran at 98%. I think the first race means nothing unless you have a stud, which seemingly I don't, but for 49BP's what do you want? Still waiting on my next arrival to come.

Vixen Desert, a Green Desert mare I want to breed came in 4th running a 75SP. Had a nice close but came up short. I'm going to run a few more times to try to offset the lower speeds she had prior to my claim.

Any ideas on a cheap sire (less than 100BP) that would breed well with a green desert mare?

Hope you all fared better than I this week. Not many horses sharp this next week for me.

Not a great lot of joy for me today...Bee stacking was the only winner....Just as well too...Instead of betting 80k on him to win, i added an extra 0 and ended up betting 800k on him...lol...Actually it was the best finish i've seen for a long time...a nose to second and third was a head away...very very close...

Paunch's horses disappointed slightly ,finishing 3rd...Needs more ground i think...Jay theatre was the other place-getter...He's turning into a great points getter....Hasn't won a race yet but collects points on a regular basis....I am happy enough if he doesn't win actually so long as he is running itm...He's good enough to do that but not good enough for someone to take a punt on him and claim him from me...yet..

I have a bunch of horses i do want to get rid of...They just will not fire...Am undecided what to do...Auction or turn them into cheap hombreds...Leaning more towards breeding...Just hope one or two turn out ok for the 3yo season next year...

Hmmm....A sire to breeed with Green desert?...He is an Aussie sire isn't he?...If so...something turfy?...Have you had a look at the chef-de-sim site ?...

Also...I am assuming you are aware that the 50% discount doesn't apply to breeding using a broodmare?...

Cab, yes I'm aware of the 50% discount not applying, but the price of Green Desert is high in BP's so the 50pts for the use of a Mare is well worth it. This horse only runs mid 70's though.

As far as getting rid of horses it seems funner to breed a horse (eliminating the bad one from your stable), although it is a real crap shoot. I think Ally's King may have some sim success, but we will see.

You must have made some serious cash on that 800K bet, assuming you had enough to cover it. My best stable has like 80K only.

I did have enought to cover it STL...He was paying 3 dollars so more than made the 500k limit..lol...I see that there is 2mil in the "misc" column....I guess that is where the excess went?...I wonder if i can use that if i ever run out of money?.....

It's a bit of a tough decision whether to breed a wellbred horse away....The new one might end up worse than the original...At least if you breed discount horses you aren't using too many bp's....

I have been searching for a decent broodmare for the last few weeks....Cab31 stable has a open slot and is collecting up bp's nicely....I wouldn't mind having at least one decent 3yo for next year(hopefully!)....I will even pay the top price and sacrifice 15bp's for a decent broodmare...I have tried to get one or two but keep missing out...I was sort of planning on breeding one in December sometime(i am hoping to have around 400 bp's to spend by that time)...There is no breeding for 2yo's from Jan til march/april? iirc...And ,i believe, the powers that be, dish out 250bp's to all stables at some stage every year(maybe march/april as well?)...

Well I could certainly use an "extra" 250BP's. Riht now I have about 150 or so. Managed to claim a mare a few weeks ago to breed. She wasn't the one I was after originally, but it takes so long to scout around and to get one I will just stick with her. I am thinking about Ascot Knight as the Sire. Don't know if that is a good match for Green Desert or not, and don't even know if that pair would work either. The dam-sire is only marginal as well, Sagace(FR). Not exactly a household sim name. I do have one free slot no in my stable and may just keep looking for a different mare to breed.
