One or two good prospects going round this week for me...The Clam(1607) is a hot fav in his starter all. race...He hasn't gone 10f before and he failed at his only try at 9f a month or two ago...Am hoping he can go the distance...Fourth bingo(5210) is also well favoured in his marathon race, although it is on turf, not his favoured surface...There are only 5 starters however and he should get itm...Neither of them are betting options...Mooralay variety, my cheapie homebred, drops into the claimers...I believe there are good bp bonuses for homebreds running in claimers(even if it isn't a debut race)so he will probably stay in claimers until he shows (or if!)anything...Chief coy, my other 2yo has his first try going "all out" this week...I have been running him at 98% so hopefully he can step up...

I went and purchased some US dollars today(I went up to the casino with 20 bucks last night and walked out with 100...:)) with the intention of sending it off to Mike and sponsoring a race...I was thinking along the lines of a "Gurupie challenge"...Anyone interested?...Haven't really thought about when ,where or what at this stage....I would like to think that it would be an appropriate race that everyone has a chance in..A nwx2/nwx3 or something like that perhaps?...I also had the idea of running ,say, 3 "heats" and the first 4 or 5 home run in a "final"....but after looking at the prices, i don't have the finances to sponsor that many races (800 credits a pop for owner restricred races)....

Anyhow ,just throwing it out on the table....Any suggestions about how it could be run or anything like that welcome...:)

I'm feeling pretty good this week. Not what I consider my better horses running, but some still look solid.

3yo Cryptomile I still have high hopes for and will be making her first turf try #2103. Hopefully her name means something so I entered her at a mile. Sim seems to like her at 9/2 and 2nd favorite. Next closest horse is 11/1. Maybe I should box an exacta on this one. Let's get that first win!

A 2yo claimer Burn Rally(IRE) in radce 2411 is at 10/1 on one of the top jocks. An easy win in his first race. Was he holding back then? If so, he could get the win here as well.

Brass Ones running in TX (race 1001) at a mile and a quarter is a 4 way co-favorite at 3-1. Not sure what that means but with only 7 horses the odds of coming ITM look good. Allowance 320K restricted.

Rich Wine, another suprising claimer is trying for 2 in a row. Why this little 4yo filly is only has 10/1 odds is beyond me. At least as good as the 5 other horses favored over her. Must be the turf races she ran. Only 2 dirt sprints were a 90SP@8f and a 98SP@6.5f. This week going at 6f. Do I smell 100SP this week? Certainly not as experienced as some of the other ladies in this race, but with the top jock Munoz astride, I am preparing my victory speech and reserving seats for the family near the winners circle.

The new stlcards2 stable brings Purple Park out in race 0808 for a 6.5f dirt sprint. 3d favorite with nothing else close after that. A real shot at a win here too, but not enough history to know how he'll run.

also running Mine Sharks in race 4604. Moving to the turf here after 2 nice dirt sprints. Tied for 2nd favorite at 4/1. Hope he likes the grass as I would love to get this win as well.

Here's hoping for a big week to all gurupies racing this week.

Cab, I agree about the gurupie race. I think that would be a great idea. I just donated to the SIM myself but gave my credits to the showme tips and stable as part of the xmas fund there. I have my stlcards stable based there. Wish I would have saved some of the credits now.

Looks like you can start counting the money now on Clam. No one else stands a chance in that race. Great placement. Cash Camp and Behaving the Chevy have a shot to win based on their experience, but mid 80's probably wins this race easily. Hmm, I just looked at the Clam's 9f race. A 74. But it looks like he jsut didn't run all out in that one. He has run well at 8.5f.

Toral Farms proudly announces its first stakes winner. Turfer Kangaroo Minstrel, running at 5-1, made one of his patented late charges to win the Shananie Stakes in Spain 5713. This is only my 3rd entry in stakes races.

Champagne's on me!

Very nice Toral!! Congrats. What a race. Kangaroo Minstrel Charges from 6 3/4 lengths back and then pours it on down the stretch to pass Jericoh Judge and just holding off Duke Quiet by a half length! Very exciting race.

Great win Toral!!...Congratulations....I bet you were booting him all the way home when he kicked the second time coming down the strech!...A drafted horse too(i think?) which would make it all the more satisfying...

Not a bad week for me...7 from 11 ITM.....The Clam finally made it into the winners circle again, plodding home in his race...and Parade shooting got the first win for my new stable,Bacup....I am hoping he has a future in 10 to 14 furlong races...

I didn't realise how valuable a 2yo homebred plodder could be...Even though Mooralay variety only ran 3rd in his race i believe he bought in 23 bp's...Another placing and he's paid for himself!...The trick would be too run them,so that they finish top 3 without winning and keeping the speed rating low enough so that no one claims them!...
I am going to turn Hick succeeding into a cheapie homebred this week..I am sick of him taking up stallspace and he won't be much good anyhow...

I went out and spent a grand total of 36 bp's last week and bred two horses...Ride the storm x Crimson slew x Import(gb)= Calm seas ahead
and Chiefs reward x Lightening leap x import(gb) = Strike gold again...I put just "Strike gold" down as the name but it come back as Strike gold again...I did check on the SSS whether the names were taken and it didn't show up...I guess a cpu horse is named that...Anyhow they will be both running in maiden claimers this week...

Oh..btw...one had a cpu value of 14k and the other 16k ..lol...I guess that is the true worth of super cheap homebreds...

Strike Gold is a sire in sim. Cost 70+BP right now. Good luck with the horses. Both colts? Don't win too fast and we can race against each other. I've got 2 new homebreds, one I've raced while RTG and the other hasn't raced yet. Hard to predict when they'll get sharp, if ever. I've had 0 luck racing horses RTG in their first race. From now on it will be a work out in the first race just to get them ready to go for the first "real" race. Good luck this week. I have only a few horses that are sharp. I think I will start giving each horse an extra week off as I get a lot of horses little groggy. I have also had 3yo's race when sharp and come back sharp. Takes a lot of restraint not to race them back to back.

I never thought to check names of sires in the sim....I haven't come across Strike gold yet...Thanks STl...I can't really see them doing too much first time out unless i can find a couple of races with only a few starters(where they might have a chance of finishing itm)..As Madman alluded to a while back, the bonuses are great for first time starter homebreds getting itm...and still good when run in claimers after that, so long as they don't get claimed...

Yep...they are both colts...which i am sort of happy about..Haven't had much luck with the females so far...(in the sim that is!!)..

It's hard to predict when any horse is going to come up sharp imo...Even when using the "train for" option some horses you can almost guarantee they will be sharp(Fourth bingo,Yankee alphabet and Sloppy station for eg...Others just seem to please themselves when they want to run(Clam and Bee stacking spring to mind)...I do feel as though i am over racing my horses(I only ever run them when sharp) but rarely are they coming back "little groggy", aside from the 2yo's who have always come back little groggy...

Maybe we should set up a "super cheapie" homebred race or something?...Everyone can be involved then...I haven't sent the money away yet...It's on the "To do" list in the next few days...

I should add to that, that i have had more than my fair share of injuries(i think, anyway), so maybe they are getting over-raced...

Also, I claimed this horse, Fit image(#19119)this week...He cost 25k...He's 11 years old and never won a race but i thought he may be a good breeding prospect...I can't find out too much about Shadeed(by Nijinsky II) yet, but i was thinking of adding a hardcore sprinter into the mix(Carson city ?) or something turfy...Any ideas come to mind, let me know!!...I can't remember if horses get eliminated at 12 or after their 12yo season...I may or may not have to get rid of him one way or the other before the year is up...I'm sure he will fetch a decent amount in the auction if i can't cant get a win out of him...

First off, congrats to Toral. Kangaroo Minstrel is a hoss. ;)

A new breeding system got started today. I think I like it. I've obviously been pretty busy with other things. Looks like my stockpile of breeding points has just gone largely to waste! Oh well.

Is going to be interesting to see what the implications are...My 2 "bargain breds" now cost 176 bp's and 182 bp's to breed...Guess i bred them just in time...I suppose there will be cheap sires around still, but it seems like they maybe harder to find...

Here I finally figured out how to breed a horse and they go and change it. My first 50 pt "bargain breed" Ally's Theatre, now costs 457BP. My second bargain breed would cost about 175BP. Wish I would have bred my other ones already. I guess I'll be using my mares next to stay cheaper. Would it be better to breed now or wait until next year? I'm leaning toward the latter.

StLCards -- I think I'm going to breed a few extremely cheap horses -- 10-15 pointers. Save my royal breeds till next year, and use my mares and my current 4yo colt crop.

5614 Stakes race

Was this a smart move or not? Basically, I'm trying to get Secret Society some divisional points. The purse was a paltry 15K, and the track is good. But the competition looks weak. Hoping I can join you as a stakes winner, Toral :)

Although I admit my stakes win here would be pretty weak if it happens.

Looks like you have a very good shot at the win here, although 2yo's have been very frustrating to predict as far as I'm concerned. A win is a win in my book. Good Luck.

Breeding -- You know, I've changed my mind. I'm going to blow 380 points on a Madman4 breed later today. And I just did spend 230 points from Rotciv for a Quiet American progeny. He was down to 90 points. I put "down" a horse that is in a claiming race this weekend, so I'm going to have to cross my fingers that I still have the horse (Splash Monte -- he really sucks, so I think there's a good chance no one will claim him).

There are a bunch of attractively priced horses. If you wait until later in the week, I bet you can get some good deals this way. But you won't be able to get your Danzig x Storm Cat x Northern Dancer horse that way. Of course, I couldn't get that type of horse last time, either.

BTW, I've got 7 horses in Madman4 stables who have gone 94+ speed or better. Two more who are exceptionally competitive in restricted races (Tsultress -- 88 speed in turf routes and Brown Bro -- 3 wins, 2 2nds in 6 starts for me). If I add a solid 2 yo, that stable is just about stocked up for the time being, IMO. So I'm going to blow all my 400 breeding points for that stable and then just enjoy watching the races :). By the time I have another open breeding slot, I should have several hundred more points. Kind of scary -- Skin Jumping is one of that stable's weakest horses.

I just wish the rest of my stables were half as good.
