0 Subject: Shattered Galaxy / Elites Strategy

With the moderators indulgence I would like to discuss Shattered Galaxy [a new online SF war/strategy game] and in particular have an out of the way place to discuss regiment strategy.

If that is unacceptable for some reason please let me know early on moderators.

I am sure if allowed I will provide for the general rotogurupie population a broad overview of this game which is frankly the best game I have ever found.

For my first post however I wish to put forward my #1 priority. In every battle there is one POC that is so close to the enemies portal that there is no point making a concerted effort for it. then there is the next hardest POC to takeover and to keep.

It seems to me that, since you will probably need that next hardest POC, the most organized players and the smartest players need to focus most of their efforts on that POC and just direct the non-regiment ppl to hang onto the easy POCs closest to home portal.

If this is overkill in some battles perhaps the reg can split up and take the second and third hardest POCs.

This is not to dismiss Rangers' 9/6/3min POC rush doctrine which works right along with what I am saying really.

Other Elites please give us your input, alternate priorities, prefered combos for the POC rushes, etc.

hi, agree on your view, but in some instance, the enemy will push so much forward that they leave their closest poc to portal unattended.

so that leave us a chance or a easy rePOC. the best is scan first, check the spread of enemy before advancing.

I recomand 2 player stay DISCREETly closer to the portal POC, like a box next to the portal POC, hide in corner and hopefully you get to respawn there and advance to rePOC at the vital moment

I would love to see more use of flares. I've never had units with the option personally.

I agree undefended POCs close to their portal are an issue. My take on it is we need to harrass their home POC just hard enuff to force them to defend it and hopefully overdefend it and then you are free to ignore it for a while while they waste manpower there. As far as grabbing that POC with a view to holding it for long...that's just unrealistic in evenly matched battles.

OT Does anyone know what it would take to equip both cloak and biostim on my Mephs and Aboms? Do I need higher Mk? More MA? Do they not have enuff slots?

My heavy poccers are great against everything but stunning spirits.

BTW I am known in this community as Baldwin not BOLDWIN. Baldwin was already taken and BOLDWIN fits the game better anyway.

As a new member of Elites, I generally agree with Baldwin's tactical analysis of POCing. However, I am thoroughly discouraged by almost every regiments disregard for strategic gameplay. On a strategic level, SG has only developed a tiny handful of advancements, such as the idea of cutting reinforcements and stalling. Otherwise, we seem to totally disregard the need for basic, basic strategic requirements. We ignore strategic reinforcement, gather points, base of operations, front and back line manuevering, blitzkrieg, siege theory and any form of "World" analysis. While winning individual battles is absolutely critcal, our success at winning these battles is heavily reliant on an overall strategic organization. Until regiments, and ultimately, factions, begin displaying a more sophisticated approach to strategy, SG will forever be stuck in a tribal warfare frenzy.
I think that discussion of Regimental Strategy is vital at this point.

Hmm, aboms can have cloak on if they dont put on armor, i am not sure about higher mk aboms though..my aboms are lvl 50 amplus with 7k hp and 565 damage and cloak..its more of a poc defender than poccer, dunno much abt mephits though.
Anyway about battle strategy, i would say that its best to use units that provides cover for each other,e.g slanths or long range units to cover short range units like imps kritsks etc..or AA to protect GG and so on...I also must point out that its always good to have AA in the battle all the time, maybe every 2 players can take shift bringing AA in..just to kill AG..kill roc/arbs..or scout around...
About the whole regi defending one poc..it all depends on how many regi members there are..and what type of units they specialise in...
that's about all...
oh, btw..u guys do know about the planetsg.net forum dont u? its easier for us to post there than in here, but maybe its more of a privacy(prevent other pple from reading our posts) that made u create a forum here?

I can always fit cloak and either H-Ablative Minimal or H-Ablative Light on my A-boms with 54 MA. That's an extra 2280 to 2800 hp. You can poc under arb fire simply by uncloaking them one at a time btw.

My Mephs are also cloaked. I have perhaps the next to best hybrid armr as well as heavy weapon and cloak. Cloak is just crucial for these slow poccers as they are frequently under arb fire and can also wait cloaked till the arbs are dealt with and then poc. Also when you are cloaked the enemy cannot autofire on your weakest unit and each new enemy will usually have to start working down a fresh 8000-10000 HP which gives you a lot of extra time to kill them. And give my mephs extra time with 523 dmg weapons... 8].

Yes I brought it over here for the privacy issue. No sense making it easy for them to figure us out.

More on strat...

Visualise our movement like a conveyor belt. Our slow poccers and ranged units move to the closest poc then when fresh units are about to enter we can start those slow units to the harder regiment poc. This way we cover two pocs and you only have to direct the non-reg players to guard one poc. Keeps it simple for them no?

How about making sure the obvious path on that conveyor is well airmined all battle long? How about setting up permanent strongpoint staging areas where we can safely setup arbs and wait there before poccing 9/6/3?

I love the idea of keeping owls in that airmined zone all battle and if you see they are depleted then your next units to rein are decided for you.

Roger Wilco

There is a free program called Roger Wilco that allows teammates to talk live while you play. If there is any regiment interest in experimenting with it I will consider downloading and fiddling with it.

For rotogurupies wondering what we are talkin about plz visit www.sgalaxy.com and look around the site. This is the informational website for the game, not the actual game itself.
