0 Subject: Sim Racing -- Week 1215 and notice of changes

I don't have time to get into these changes, but everyone needs to check the MB. Mike's kind of dramatically changed the value of claim horses. If you can repeatedly place in the top 3 in claim races without getting a horse claimed, you can rack up some serious BPs.

Plus, we are all going to receive "bonus" BPs gradually over the next 20 weeks. This won't benefit us newbies as much as the older players, however, since the bonus size depends on the TOTAL amount of BPs you've scored since the game's beginnings.

Also, notice we have two more tracks. I've just done a fix for the SSS, and will announce a posting at some point this evening or tomorrow. I've also been cleaning up the MadTrainer2000, and may post a version of it soon. One extremely cool new feature it has is a Racefinder utility. If you've downloaded your horses into it, you can find races that your horses qualify for. This is exceptionally nice, since it integrates Mike's finder features with Indy's ability to be horse-specific.

Lots of goings on! And I have no idea where my horses are going to be running at all yet -- or even which nags are going. I do know, however, that I'm going to be hitting the higher level claimers quite a bit this week. Maybe even some lower ones. I was going to start clearing out some guys like "Babified Opossum" and "Elocat's Boys". These breeding point bonuses just make that a much more attractive option.

Here's Mikes entire message. It will probably get lost quickly on the HR board.

Hello!

To ensure the fairness of credits vs. breeding points, as well as to ensure the place of lower class horses in the game, the following is being added starting this week:

You can now earn a breeding point bonus if the following holds:

* Your horse's previous race was in week 1215 or greater
* Your horse travels less than $310 to the race
* Your horse finishes in the top 3
* Your horse's previous race was a non owner-restricted claim race and you were the owner during that race
* Your horse does not get claimed out of the current race you are running in

The bonus is equal to the amount of points your horse earned in the previous race. In other words, if you earned 15 points for your horse's previous effort and 10 points for his current effort, and all of the above conditions held true, you would earn 25 points for the current week. More importantly, the bonus can carry over from week to week. In other words, say his next effort earned you 12 points, and all of the above conditions held true. You would then earn 12+(10+15) = 37 points for his current effort. If you can keep running successfully in claim races, you can accumulate many more points than before. The maximum number of points that can be earned in one race is 500 points.

If all of the above condtions hold, your horse will get a bonus based on the number of races it has run. The bonus = INT(AGE/5). In other words, if this is your horse's 7th race, you will get INT(7/5) = INT(1.2) = 1 extra point. If it is your horse's 25th race, you will get an extra INT(25/5) = INT(5) = 5 points.

The number of points earned for racing back at the same track has been increased from 1 and 2 (non money vs. money finish) to 2 and 5.

Also, I have kept the number of points earned per player since the game's inception. Since I am increasing ways to earn breeding points, I need to make the breeding points earned to this point more valuable. Over the next 20 weeks, I will reward a bonus dependant on the number of breeding points you have earned. Look for these points to start bleeding through next week. If all works well, you should end with an extra number of breeding points close to the number you have earned during your game tenure (note, this is the number of breeding points EARNED -- this does not include points given the breeding point bonus I gave to allow you to breed horses last year).

Thanks!

Thanks Madman.

I saw the message on the boards, but didn't think of the high claimers. That becomes very attractive indeed. A lot less people willing to try for a claim of $50-100K for a so-so horse meaning you stand a better chance of bringing home those BP's.

This latest distribution of BP will put the newer players at a serious disadvantage. If a long time player has earned 1000BP's and a newer player has earned 100BP's then the long time player gets ten times the amount. Doesn't seem quite right, but oh well, I can always try to become king of the bargain breeders. Takes a lot more effort but a lot less worry about how the new horse performs.

OUCH. 11 races, 1 2nd, 1 3rd, and pretty much every horse was eating dirt.

Rakida's Plug managed to sneak a 3rd in his 8f allowance race. Miswaki Music ran a horrible 48.7 at 5.5f dirt. Probably too short. American Mint ran 6th in 68 speed for FTO. Private Count fell off her game and ran 82.8 at 9f on dirt. That's down 16 speed ratings from LTO. Alyrun Wing dropped 20 speed rating points. Tsultress bombed at her turf sprint experiment.

You win some and lose some. Just thought I'd share with everyone that I can get my behind blasted from time to time too. Didn't get any claim horses, and unfortunately didn't clear barn space.

The good news is that Our Nooses did finish 4th, good enough for some breed points. As I understand it, what you want is to get some points, and THEN start finishing 3rd or higher in claim races. I.e., a 4th place finish will carry over into the next race if you finish 3rd in future races.

Very marginal week for me. Had two 5th's, one 4th, a place, a 7th, and a dead last 14th with a speed of 7 (obviously doesn't like the dirt). My daughters allyfarms stable that I've been running for her (she's too busy with neopets now) did very well. A 7th place finish for Kingdom Blushing in a stakes race (just entered it for fun to see what would happen), a win for Foxy Moment, and a win for Burrito Under Mats in a claim race (she held on to him too). These 3 horses were all claimers she got.

My biggest mistake was with Hot Republic. This horse insists on getting as far behind the pack as possible before making a late run. Too little too late. I got him to place by setting the riding options to .5 previously but had the top jock and trusted him. Once again way behind and couldn't make up the ground. Ran Country Jodie back to back at RTG as a track restricted race with only 6 entries presented itself. Figured I'd grab those pts before the double pts goes into effect. Came in 5th.

I still plan to breed one horse with a green dancer x sagace(FR) mare. Any suggestions for a sire less than 100pts?

not such a great week for me percentage wise(6itm/15starts-3 wins)but i did manage to snare another stakes win ...Parade shooting went 96 over 16f at Arizona to win his race fairly easily..(10 lengths)...the 2 favourites in that race are pretty good horses too...

My 3 2yo cheapies had mixed results...Blame the rum ran impressively, winning with a 81sp...Prosperous lady was just above average with a 63sp and Bigfoot was below average with 55sp..I am glad i didn't take the risk and run them in claimers this time though...Blame the rum and Bigfoot both hit the stable sharp...Prosperous lady has come up sharp this week...STL...Did you end up running your 2yo back to back?...I don't think i will run prosperous lady again this week..

The other winner was Girlfriend parking...Got his points collecting career off to a good start(As far as getting bonus bp's that is)...Don't know how much longer i will get to hang on to him though...
A few changes in the ranks this week as well...Lost sloppy station,Prince beau and Jinx darnning...Picked up Moldy drunk(a good swap for sloppy i feel),Neatly till rob,Billie legend,Mike's bushell and Craw chop...Some of these are gambles but hopefully if all else fails they will be okay in the claiming ranks...

I got the credits finally(actually got them earlier in the week but have been flat out at work all week)so if there is any interest i will sponsor a race for gurupie horses...I won't be anywhere near a computer for weeks 1229 and 1236 so those weeks are out...

I like the looks of Generous(Caerleon) and Hansel(by Woodman) as sires Stl...I Especially like Hansel for some reason....I believe Torals' Kangaroo minstel is by Generous, so he may be the man to ask about him...I don't know if they will fall into your price range by the end of the week however..(They are question marks at the moment so i can't tell)..

The basis of my breeding projects so far is to have a look on the sire search and to see if the sires have had at least an inkling of success in the sim,Although i haven't created "clones" of the good runners...

Also, i saw a post from Zgreat a while back...He seemed to think speed x stamina x stamina or stamina x speed x stamina were good combinations...

Don't know if that helps any...

StLCards -- there are usually some great sires for under 100 points towards the end of the week. It's too early in the week for me to say for sure who will end up that low.

But you can look at sires who are in the mid to lower 200's right now, and see how fast they are falling. Those will have a chance to drop below 100 by week's end if they aren't used.

BUTT.

COOL!!! Found them. These are the changes you were asking for, Toral.

Wow. There's some stuff here that I missed -- increased back to back track bonus! As well as the Age/5 thingy. . .
