I was just wondering if near the end of the season, people call up prospects into the majors. I have a couple guys who are in the 350 range in AAA, who I am considering calling up, unless it will stunt their growth. I would like to give these guys playing time rather than some free agents who I will not be resigning.

Any thoughts?

It is my understansing that when a player in AAA has his #'s at 350 it will actually make him progress faster if you bring him up ......In general at 150 send him to AA and 250 send him to AAA

I actually had a different experience. I have heard that you should bring them up at 350 too, but when i brought an OF up with 2 numbers at 380 and 1 over 400 he did not improve at all. He played in 17 games, but his numbers did not move at all. He is a 10 star player and he had not yet reached his peak. Does anyone know why?

I don't think so, he has four stars average and he currently has a 382 for average. He should be a lot higher then that. I sent him back down to the minors, hopefully he will start improving again.

To anyone who knows: If a player has 3 star potential, about what numbers can you expect from them at there peak?

I don't know, but I do have a guy with two stars that peaked at 410 so a guy with three stars should at least be able to get 450-460. But at the same time I have a three star guy that peaked at 357. So I'd say the range for three stars would be 350-460, but Jaysuade or RS could probably give a more accurate projection.

Can anyone clear this up?

Psycho Joe - Doesn't work like that.....you might have a player with 4 stars in every category and only reach 350 because he underpreforms. At the same time you might have a player with only 2 stars in a category and have that category at 450 because he is overachieving. So MR. MET he might just be underpreforming

I realize that the guy is probably underperforming, hence he would be at the lower end of the range I mentioned. My range might be off, I'm just basing it on my experiences, which aren't that many.

Well sometimes like in real life a can't miss prospect (4 stars) just doesn't make it to the majors... that is my guess, the stars give some idea as to how well a prospect will be, but if the stars told you exactly where the prospect will end up it wouldn't be any fun. That is just my opinion.
