OK, to make Kyle happy here is another thread for R2. After all, he did make a website for us. Here's who "us" is:

Twarpy(Braves)
JKaye(Orioles)
Psycho Joe(White Sox)
Dev(Astros)
30something deac(Giants)
Big Poo Generator(Padres)
Milo Hamilton(Dodgers)
Kyle (Indians)
Jaysuade (Red Sox)

Am I forgetting anybody?

Today was supposed to be the big showdown between my Padres and Milo's Dodgers. Instead, my team choked and lost 9 games in the standings in 4 days. It's very disappointing because I traded some prospects and spent a lot of money trying to pull ahead. So today's matchup was meaningless. But it was still a good series.

Yeah I know I actually thought I played better over-all so far, I wouldn't even be confident if I was up 3-1 but being up 2-2 I'm kinda shaky.

Those were good games. Although It looks like Pettite is getting a big head from all this Cy Young talk :)

The Mariners had the best pitching and hitting in the AL. I was thrilled after winning game 1, but they are the better team and I knew I had little chance.

If you didn't understand what I just posted, here's what it means. I'm getting rid of all the ROY picks and starting over. Each team can (but doesn't have to) nominate eligible players from their team to be ROY. Please e-mail me your team's nominations. Please only nominate players if they are deserving of the award.

Congrats Milo it was an amazing series you did have the better team by far, I dont know I might have been able to pull it off if I had Sean Casey (injured) There were a couple of games I lost real close. Best of luck in the finals you deserve to win!

Well, the Mariners beat me in 5 games. I lost game 5 7-6. Down 4-0 in the 7th I tied it at 4. Then I fell behind 6-4 and tied it in the 9th, before losing in the bottom half. Oh well, I need a little more to get me over the hump next year.

Great games Twarpy. It couldn't have been any closer. Thats crappy about having Casey injured. I had 2 starters injured but they were in the beginning of the season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed during the playoffs, as I am playing my starters without rest. I figure I couldn't save anybody for later cuz there might not be a later. I think that might have been the difference in the series, with all of the close games that were played. Now hopefully I can handle the Mariners and score one for the Gurupies and the NL as well :)

You better win, nothing to take away from the AL but I think our series was the best of the teams, and I thought whoever won the NL would win it all:)! Go Milo!

Congratulations, Milo, on your sweep of the Mariners. Good luck to all for net season and hope nobody retires.

Congrats Milo. I thought you might be the favorite to win the Series. I just didn't think you would sweep the Mariners. I thought their hitting might net them a couple of wins.

Now its on to the fun of free agency bidding wars.

I had three players retire. All were starters. 3B Ron Coomer. OF Vladimir Guerrero. 2B Quilvio Veras.

The reason I ask is, I had three players retire. Two were 34, one was the ripe old age of 33. The 34 year olds were two of my best players and had signed extensions. Oh well, I'm 34...I wish I could retire.

Congrats Milo and good luck next year.

How did everyone fair so far w/ free agency and retirement?

I have 18 in the show, 14 in AAA,17 in AA and 24 in A. My total salary for a year is only 10 mil.

I got hit pretty hard by retirements too. I lost 2B Durham and OF McCracken. I think Durham was only 31 or 32, and McCracken was 34. I'm ready to start making some trades!

I lost Alicea, but I was kind of expecting it. Is it correct that free-agents sign on random days or do they all sign at the same time?

Hey, did anyone get any good free agents? I got Tony Womack a 34 year old 2B with 420+ in every almost every category. I was also able to trade a couple of prospects to Big Poo for Ken Caminiti who I needed dearly since Ron Coomer retired at the ripe old age of 40.

I took a somewhat expensive risk with Shane Monahan. I needed help in the outfield. With Salmon and O'Neill moving on it made the gamble on Monahan easier from a financial standpoint. Neither Salmon or O'Neill had a 400+ rating in any hitting category and combined took up over 8 million in salary.

I got Mickey Lopez to replace Durham at 2B, and Glavine to be my closer. I had to trade A-Rod, who was not going to resign with me, and in return got Stovall to replace McCracken in the outfield. I think my team is slightly improved, but probably not enough to catch the Dodgers.

The divisions are definitely unbalanced talent wise. My Sox are tied for first in the AL West and my team sucks. I finished last overall last year and my team is worse this year.

Jeez, it seems like our league is dying. No posts in three days, and it seems like only half the teams did their draft rankings. Not that I'm complaining, since I had the first pick I had a killer draft. I also got some good Northerner's this year so my farm system is finally looking good.

No complaints from me with the 5th pick either.I think I drafted 4 players with at least 10 star potential which doesn't happen too often.

Same here - with the 12th pick, I didn't expect to get more than 5-6 keepers, but ended up with 8-9. I think I got 8 of the top 40 on my draft board.

By the way, for those who haven't noticed, there is now an R2 board at the grand slam site.

Yeah, the inactivity in the draft led to me signing like 7-8 players with the 16th spot.
People don't realize that the draft is the most important thing in the game, aside from not bankrupting your team in the first 2 days.

Fortunately I'm very active with the league. I hate baseball, but GSB is actually fun. Unfortunately I get the NIMROD GM award this year for forgetting to rank the players.

By the way how about Milo and the Dodgers in easily the blockbuster trade (Glaus) of the league's first two years.

Yeah, it looked like Glaus was not going to have a good year this year for me, so I pulled the trigger getting another great 3rd baseman in Williams and getting back Vaughn. A few of my top performers are not playing up to expectations this year (Glaus one of them) and my pitching has been mediocre, so after looking at the Cardinals and Jaysuade over in the AL I decided to tighten up my lineup for the immediate future and go for the Championships while I can.

Is anyone still interested?? Milo and I had a great series...for me at least. He outscored me 36-20 but I stole two. I got a gem from Marquis and beat De Paula-his ace- 5 to 1. He went on to win 21-4 and 11-7. I took the last game 4-3, I won with a sac fly in the bottom of the ninth. As a side note, in the batttin title race he has 1,3 and I have 2,4. Good Luck.

My team has sucked this year, but I got the chance to play spoiler by playing the two division leaders in the last two weeks. I split with both. The teams ended up tied.(Red Sox and Yansks)

But the Yanks were 3 outs away from winning the division but my Orioles scored 3 in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 7-6 win. Because of that there will now be a one game playoff to decide the AL East!

Great job JKaye. Anybody wanna pick the winner of the one game playoff? I'll give an edge to the Red Sox based on Jaysuade's greater GSB managerial experience. After all he brought the Sox from the cellar to the penthouse in the AL East.

My Final score prediction: Red Sox win 6-4
