What are the keys to making money in this game. All year I steadly lost money each week. Are there any strategies or formulas for success? |

1) Lower your payroll. From what I gather, the average team makes 50-55 million per year, so if you are paying your players more than that, you can expect a net loss.
2) Perform better. Ateam which has a good record will generate more gate revenue, which will obviously lead to more money.
3) Don't waive players making alot of money. This screwed me when I first started. If you waive somebody and somebody claims them, then you have to pay the player the TOTAL amount of the contract up front. You may have done this trying to lower your payroll and had it bite you. If you waive a player, immediately put a bid on him. If nobody outbids you, you get him back, but if somebosy does outbid you, then they are responsible for the contract.
Hope I was of some help

Well if you have a lower roster value, then that will help save you money, BUT you make more money if you are a better team so paying some good players helps make money too. Finding a happy medium involving high quality players who aren't paid much is the key to making money. My cost has been a little under 4 million per week and I have been in first place all year so I have been going back in forth in my balance depending on whether I was at home or on the road. The playoffs start tomorrow and over the course of the 16 week season I lost about 300,000 dollars. Since the big money is made in the playoffs I exect to make a good amount this year. I think that just under 4 million is a good amount to spend. It is a large enough salary to enable me to sign some good free agents in the offseason and stay competitive, but a low enough salary to make money overall.

And i see the Great One beat me to answering the question. Unfortunately for him it will be the last thing he beats me at this season.
