For immediate release:
Ramirez Garners Team MVP Award
Sometimes, a player earns a big salary and flops during the season. Other times, a player exceeds the value of his contract. In season 1, Aramis Ramirez of the Rangers fit into neither category. After the Rangers shelled out $80 million for Ramirez prior to last season, big things were expected. The star third baseman did not disappoint. While most observers claim that Ramirez has the most power in the league, three teammates hit more homeruns, including league home run leader Vladimir Guerrero. But Aramis did a lot of everything this year, hitting .350, stealing 9 bases, drawing 20 walks, leading the majors with 19 doubles, and committing only two errors in 64 games at third base. The choice was obvious: we picked the best player on the playoff bound Rangers as our season 1 Most Valuable Player.
Runners-up: BJ Surhoff, Vladimir Guerrero
Billy Who? Hibbard Takes Top Pitcher Trophy
After several seasons of toiling in the minors, Billy Hibbard was called up to the majors midway through season 1. The pitcher responded with a 5-1 record and a miniscule 2.35 ERA. On a staff loaded with quality pitchers, Hibbard proved to be the best.
Runners-up: Jake Chapman, Jeff Zimmerman
Hibbard Also Top Rookie
Billy Hibbard, the anchor of a great Texas pitching staff, added a team Rookie of the Year award to his arsenal, which already includes a great fastball and a great curve. Hibbard, who posted a 5-1 record in half a season, looks for even greater things in the future.
Runners-up: Nick Johnson, Jason Shiell |

A pitcher that plays half a season wins the Cy? Those must've been 5 HUGE wins. :)

Great One:
1. Yes, they were.
2. This is the team's best pitcher. I sure would vote for Bobby Rodgers, Jaret Wright, and Robb Nenn, in that order, in an AL Cy Young vote.
J:
BJ was great. I paid him about 300K a week, but he led off and led the team in runs and walks and was second in steals. I have a gazillion outfield prospects, so he might be gone by next year.

I would agree about Bobby Rodgers and Rob Nen, but then, I am hardly unbiased ;).
By the way, are there league MVP/CYY/Rookie awards? If so, where do they get posted.

Also, if there are awards, Bobby Rodgers should win AL CY Young and AL Rookie of the year. He is, in fact, a 28 yr. old rookie. Quite a story if i do say so myself. (Also, can't beat paying your 12-3, 2.07 ERA pitcher $200,000.)

I figured out for myself that there werent such awards, but then i noticed that Sliced Bread (Giants) had sent out an email saying we should all vote. I was wondering if you guys had, and if so, who for. Here are mine:
CY Young:
1. Robb Nen, Indians, 5-0, 1.08, 19 Saves
2. Bobby Rodgers, Indians, 12-3, 2.07
3. Jaret Wright, Red Sox, 10-2, 2.05
MVP
1. Ray Durham, Red Sox, 2B
2. Todd Hollandsworth, Indians, OF
3. Ben Petrick, Red Sox, C
As i said in my email to SB, I wanted to sneak someone from the Rangers in there, but i couldnt justify putting Aramis or Vlad ahead of any of these 3.

I voted, as stated, for Rodgers, Wright, and Nenn in that order. Chapman and Hibbard were great, but I'm not about to put either one ahead of those three. I'd probably put Chapman fourth in the league, since Hibbard didn't pitch many innings.
For MVP, I went Aramis, Durham, and Hollandsworth, in that order. I did consider Petrick as well.
