We have been awfully quiet lately. Of the five people who posted to the
previous thread it looks like four of us are left.
skineej - Astros
Stick - Padres
Sachin - Mariners
Tim G - Royals
Several owners have moved on, but the good news is that all teams are
currently owned. I read at the GSB message board that all leagues will
soon have their own message forum on the site. That may make it easier
to communicate but we will always have this board. Good luck to all W2
owners during the second season. |

What's up all? I got the Cubbies. Got kind of a crap team. I've upgraded bigtime, but I think I'm still one year away from tearing things up.

Welcome to the league Great One. Good Luck with the Cubbies. I took 7 of 8 from them last year, so you will have your work cut out. At least you have a good draft position, right? ;)
Well, Stick we have an early season showdown in week 2. You do know you have to pay for taking me out of the playoffs last season. ;-) I lost my best pitcher to retirement, and your pitching pretty much shut me down last season so I'm not feeling too good about the series.

Thanks skinnee...damn near everyone beat up on me last year. Think I'm turning it around ok though. This year should be pretty good, and next year, I guarantee a playoff birth :)

Just made a major addition to my pitching staff in Clemens and just in time for tonight's games. It cost me two top prospects, but it was worth it. This gives me the ace again that I lost when Prihoda retired. I did sign Jaret Wright in the off season who's a solid number 2 starter, but I needed a stud. That leaves me with an extra starter in Terry Burrows who is now available.
On a side note, why did the Braves end up taking Bergman for 26 million a year? Was it a mistake? And has someone actually bid on him, or is the manager just running the bid price up to make it look like there is interest? Also I noticed the Ranger's manager has gone on a signing spree with all the long term deals. This is going to bite him in the ass especially if he doesn't contend and rake in all the gate revenues to pay for these guys. I made a couple of dumb long term deals early on last season before I had a good feel for the game, but I think I'll be okay with those guys. I think this game has become addictive. ;)

Hey,
Actually, it was me that got Bergman for $26 million. It was a complete mistake. I meant to put in 5yrs for 26 million. But I put him on waivers and someone actually put a bid on him!! I can't believe that. I totally thought I was going to be stuck eating 26 million. Thank God. Now I don't have to trade all my good players away. Anyway, no one responded to my trade e-mails. There were some good guys I was willing to trade. I'll send another e-mail again. I have way too many pitching prospects and I need to unload them.

Well, Stick you have my number. Swept again by the Padres. Clemens pitched a great game, but lost 1-0 with the one run scoring due to an error. It should have been unearned, but the game has a few anomalies. Clemens may have been a bit jetlagged in flying in from New York in time to pitch the first game, but it didn't show. The games were close but my bullpen pitched poorly giving the Padres the sweep. I've got my work cut out for me again this season.

I definitely got lucky. There is no way I should be 6-2, I think I've scored 3 more runs than I've given up on the year. Oh well, it's nice to get a rivalary going with them Astros.

Tonight my Royals face Stick's Padres, I'll give him the pitching edge whereas I have the hitting edge (based on stats so far this season). Should be interesting.
Great One, nice turn around for the Cubs, those recent acquisitions must be paying off.
Sachin, I hope the Bergman situation works out for you. I remember seeing him at 4yr/26mil and the next day he was gone. I was quite surprised to see him appear on the waiver wire.
skinneej, Man you signed a lot of Northern leaguers, even more than me. I was going for a lot of the guys you got but I never got word that my bids had been topped. Oh well, I'm sure I got some players that others were bidding for. I really wanted Esix Snead, where did he come from? I can't believe someone released him but I also don't remember seeing him in last seasons draft.
We have our own W2 message board at GSB as of today, but nobody has posted yet.

Thanks Tim. I think my team is playing a little over their heads right now, but I expect to be right in the thick of things in two years.

Don't think so Stick....I lost 7 of my last 8. It looks like it's gonna be a struggle for both of us

Look out for the White Sox for whoever makes it to the World Series, they have some great pitching (for an AL team). They have kicked my Royal's A$$ for two seasons now so I wish my gurupie NL GSB brothers the best of luck in taking down them down.
