I would congratulate Sanchez and his Cubs for winning his second World Series but he doesn't own them anymore. Tough Luck Logos. I was rooting for you.

Retirements were a little harsh on you too, losing Dodson and Ransom.

I hope there is still enough interest with current owners for season 3 and beyond. Hopefully we can get two more Gurupie owners to fill the Cubs and Rangers.

Let the Free Agency Madness begin......

I'm being totally serious and I think you need to calm down Whitey. I think that never winning is going to your head. One of these years you won't finish second or third. You'll finally win your division, or at least there's a good chance that will happen. Lopez is slumping. His ratings are decent but not great. I've just managed to get him to produce a lot better than he should have the past couple of years. That's what happens when you're playing for a winner. You might find that out eventually. Have fun drafting before me again.

Brock - I guess we'll see where our teams stand after tonight. We go head-to-head. I guess you think you're gonna sweep the Cards tonight, right?? I'll touch base with you again after I take 3 out of 4 from you and knock you out of first place!!! This is fun, I should talk trash more often ;)

Well it took an act of god for you to split with me. Who in the hell is this Lacy guy??? I know you were bitching earlier about some guy hitting a pair of homeruns off of you that didn't even belong in AAA. Well Lacy has AA ratings and he somehow manages to held the most potent offense in the game to 1 run??? How much did that cost you? The commish must be rich now.

If you want to go there, check out the pathetic ratings for your guy Romano. He's got like 6 HRs and I have no idea how. If you look through the league leaders, you will see many players who don't belong there based on their ratings. The Commish has some touch-up work to do with the simulator.

As for wonder-boy Lacy, He has a 490 fastball, 430 breaking ball and high 200s in the other 2 categories. That's good enough to be a stud in grand slam baseball.

Are you pissed that losing those two games to me knocked you out of first place?? I thought so. NL East is where it's at...all 4 teams within 3 games of each other!!!!

Lacy, a stud??? Maybe on your team but not on any contender's team. I wish I was in the East. I would be leading your division by a game. Instead, I'm in the division with the 2 best teams in the league. I will prevail, you can count on that. I hope you have all your off-season moves planned out because it looks like another rebuilding year for you.

Your posts always crack me up man!! You never use any sensible logic to prove your points. You just throw out things like "my team is the best" and leave it at that. Actually, I think the problem is your hitters are starting to perform like they should based on their rating and that spells trouble for the Padres. Your pitching can only take you so far. Please, keep the entertaining posts coming.......

Let me know in which post I said my team was the best. I'm just curious. But you're exactly right when you say that. If you don't think your team is the best, then how do you expect to win??? I know some people don't think their team is the best, but they also don't expect to win either. I sure hope you're not one of these. I guess you're just not a logical person that can see things sensibly. I use facts in almost every post. I guess you don't like to see the reality in these things.

Now, you may be thinking, J, there's something wrong! It says you're eliminated from the playoffs, but you're only 3 games out! Well, true. But, the huge series between the Cards & the Cubs this week, elimates both me and the purple pimpster from the playoffs. No matter what happens in the Cubs-Cards games, neither of us can overtake either of them. So thats that...

Good luck guys!

Cubs and Cards... 1 game....winner goes to the league championship series, loser goes to the golf course.

I'm hoping my starter can keep me in the game until he hands off to my bullpen. Since it's a 1 game playoff, I have my 3-headed closer filling the spots of middle relief, setup and stopper. These three guys (Adkins, Negrette, Caraciolli)could probably close for any other team in the league, but I wound up keeping all 3 of them for some stupid reason. Hope it pays off

After checking the standings I was positive I would see some smack talking in here. I still am not sure if Brock is that serious or just having fun with it all. Either way, I get a smile out of it.

GSB is way too unpredictable for me to take seriously. My Royals team in Z2 is loaded with talent and can't win consistently.

Take a look at the stats of players he is starting too. At one point last year I think he only had 3 SP listed for team. That tells me pitching rotation wasn't even set up.

IF GSB Mark Clark isn't the equivalent of real life Randy Johnson then I am overpaying him.
I know Randy has a bad game now and then, but for a shortened season, meaning what?....maybe 18 starts, hard to see him blowing up in half of them. I know, I know, real baseball has ups and downs. Real baseball is also 160+ games and allows for experimentation and adjustment.

3-4 bad weeks(real world days) in GSB and you can be out of play-off picture. I still enjoy the game but think it is almost all luck, a little skill in setting line-up and picking up players.

To boast of GSB success, like some of the old-timers do on the GSB message boards, makes me laugh. It's like me bragging that I won the Superbowl on a NFL nintendo game by playing the coach. In all honesty, winning an online spades championship is more difficult. Playing GSB with Gurupie pals is funner than spades, but I don't feel as competetive as I would playing SW games.

BTW, can't believe I won division again. I made almost 20 million just during the season. Heck, I made money on road games when gate was only 450K for me. I think I will bid 150 million a year for best free agent....hehehe

There you go again with that "best team" stuff... ;)

Seriously, they probably should have a wild card, but there aren't enough teams to justify it...maybe if there just 2 eight team leagues and the team with the best record got a bye. Then the 2nd and 3rd place teams play in the first round.

Good to see you're taking your 2nd place finish like a man...what's it gonna take for you to acknowledge my team as a winning team? (or will that never happen?)

You have a good team Whitey, just not as good as mine. I'm sure you feel the same way about yours compared to mine. Most managers with good teams feel this way. I can't believe you think Glavine should win the Cy Young over Bohanon or Callier. The stats don't lie. You weren't being bias were you???

Brock - In this case, I definitely was not being biased. I was looking at the won/loss record, the ERA and the strikeout-to-walk ratio for all of the pitchers. Glavine comes out on top in my book. No doubt Bohanon and Callier had great years (all your starters did damn it!!!), but Ijust think you can't penalize Glavine because he didn't pitch as many innings as the other guys. Anybody else want to weigh in on this??

....and yes I did get swept by the Giants in the playoffs (i'm going to go crawl into a hole now until next season starts)

I'll weigh back in. Glavine has a 318 stamina rating. He's not good enough to pitch more than 6 innings a game. Bo is a workhorse. He goes almost 8 innings a game. Bo had 33% more strikeouts and had 1 fewer walk. Sure Glavine beat him in ERA (2.56 to 2.81) but that's a small margin. They both won 9 games. Bo gave up only 2 more hits despite pitching 17 more innings. The facts speak for themselves.

Here are the 3 main candidates for NL Cy Young (I could include Ramos, but I won't just because he gave up 10ER in the most important game of the year ;):

Glavine 9-2 2.56 ERA, 95 IP, 86 H, 22 BB, 60 K
Bohanon 9-4 2.81 ERA, 112 IP, 88 H, 21 BB, 80 K
Callier 9-5 2.68 ERA, 111 IP, 124 H, 22 BB, 77K

Some observations. All 3 men pitched the same amount of games (16). Glavine has the best ERA and the best winning percentage of the 3. Do you think winning percentage is important or just number of wins. Before you answer that question, would you rather have a pitcher who is 100-150 in his career or one who is 75-30?

Other than those 2 stats, Bohanon definitely has the best numbers. It all comes down to what each voter thinks are the important statistics.

Brock - I am not trying to be combative here, just trying to show another perspective.

Congrats to Logos and his Royals World Series Championship in season #3.

My memory is horrible but isn't this the second season I lost game seven of the ALCS in extra innings to you?

Alas, what can you expect from a team whose salary was just over 2 million a week. With Hernandez retiring my salary dropped even more.

No real superstar free agents this year to spend it on either. I sure wish my Royals in Z2 played like yours did in P2.

I have added my farm players that are available next year to become free agents to my 40 man roster. I have no eligible free agents next year on my MLB team. I have signed the players coming into 3+ seasons who I want for long term. I guess I don't have anything to do for the next couple days but wait for new season.

Maybe I can go overbid for Alomar and Koskie. Gives me something to do and a place to spend some money...

I hate to give away my secrets, but what the heck, we are all family here.

Last year I didn't expect to do much so I did lots of experimenting. I played multiple players in the catcher position, mostly rookie OF's.

Rarely did they make any errors and yes, baserunners were still thrown out. I did notice more errors when I played players out of position everywhere else, but not at catcher.

Anyone else track their player stats throughout the year? I have noticed it doesn't matter what level pitchers are at, they gain the same at A, AA, and AAA. I think I will put some OF with 300+ average in A this year and see if they gain differently. Let them spend two weeks in AAA then back to A for two weeks, and check it out.

In addition to what TB said - I found that as long as a guy has a high AVG rating, the other 3 categories don't really mean $hit...also, if you experiment enough you can find a guy who performs WAYYYYYY above his ratings. I've seen guys with mid-300 ratings in all 4 categories play a full season and bat .300 with great all-around numbers. There is a lot of work to do with the simulator. Hopefully, the Commish can introduce this new simulator soon or it's probably back to strat-o-matic for me!! ;)

I know you really don't want the commish to implement the sim changes because your $hitbag players will come back to reality and produce like their AAA ratings show.

Here we go again!!! I was starting to think you were turning over a new leaf. It's good to hear some smack in this thread once again. So how was your offseason??? I bet it really sucked to get all pumped up to go to the series and then not even make the playoffs.

On the contrary, if the sim is "corrected" to have the production match the ratings then my players would perform even better than they currently are performing, especially some of my hitters. A lot of teams have players who only have high AVG rating and nothing else and would be really hurt by a new simulator (I won't mention any names.....TB).

I can't wait until the Cardinals play the underachieving Padres and Manny Ramirez lays the smack down on Brian Bohanon!!!!!!

Glad to get some smack going in here again. In honor of Brock's sh*t-talking, I nominate him to start the P-2 Season 4 thread.

This is the year I win it. I can feel it. I am the GSB A's. I don't spend a lot of cash but my guys are loose and give it their all every game.

Yep Whitey, I go for average and speed before anything else. When Jaysuade and Renegade Salmon introduced the game I took notes and scoured the GSB message forum. My best home run hitter was Damon Mashore. He had a HR rating of about 350.

You guys talk about the new sim like it's not already here. Is there another one on the way?

Someone trade me a pitcher who is worth a dam and I will go kick Brock's butt in the World Series. Wait a sec, he has to make play-offs first. Maybe I should try and beat Royals first anyways.

You two need to quit letting the Cubs kick your arse every year and take charge of them divisions.

Now, where the hell is that Purple Pimp and his smack talking..........
