He will not be overmatched in the pros, if that is your question. However, there are several other factors to consider. First is his rate of improvement. My hunch is he will improve faster at this point in the majors, but i could be wrong. It isn't a bad idea to check how much he is improving currently before doing anything. A second consideration is his salary. You say he would help your staff. I guess my question is how much. If the answer is not significantly, than you don't really want to eat up one of his precious pre-arbitration salary years just to have him in the bigs (assuming he is still improving in the minors). You know the answers to these questions better than i do, and in the end it will be a judgement call. Still, make sure that when you do call him up, you start him regularly so that he can improve as much as possible. Hope this helps. Bean Dip | |||||
