0 Subject: Breaking Ball

Posted by: Josie - [4441223] Fri, Aug 25, 08:24

I haven't really done any rating analysis but after watching 3 full seasons for 3 teams I am beginning to think that breaking ball is the most important stat for pitchers.
Guys like Brad Guy and Jim Johnson have around 450 in everything except Breaking ball which is around 250. Thier career ERA around 4.50. Then there is I believe his name is Ender. He has around a 490 for breaking ball and only about 300 in control and 250 in changeup. His career ERA is around 3.
Maybe later when I have sometime I will do some analysis. Now I think we all know the best pitcher is someone with over 400 in all ratings. But there isn't enough to go around. Has anyone else noticed something similar in the ratings vs. ERA thing.

In H2, Gabe Gonzalez in 2 seasons as one of my starters has gone 8-3 and 13-1 with a sub-2 ERA each year.

Suprisingly, he has been my top pitcher even with Justin Thompson and Mark Clark on my team.

He has a 415 fastball, a sub 400 breaking, and is in the low 400's for chaneup and control.

I have personally found that the order I pitch my pitchers has a HUGE effect on their performance. It might just be a fluke but ever since I moved Mark Clark from 1st in the rotation to fourth he has pitched much MUCH better. I'm talking a 2 run drop in his ERA. The same can be said for Justin Thompson as well.

Its probably just coincidence that that happened but ya never know because the same thing can be said about my lineup (which is more understandable).

I noticed the same thing with Clark. He was getting hammered in the first slot, so I bumped him into the 4th game and got the same results as you did.
