As most of you know, when your team's balance falls below 0, you're highest paid player(TOTAL contract) is "auctioned" off. He goes to the waiver wire and you receive a small compensation. What I've wondered was the actual monetary amount that you receive. Well, look no further.
You receive 8% of his remaining contract.
For example, if you lose a player with a 5yr, $50M contract in week one, you receive $4M as compensation. If you lose that same player at week one of the following season(when his contract is 4yr, $40M), you receive $3.2M.
I thought this was useful information for those teams that cannot avoid bankrupcy and are trying to plan ahead. Good luck! |
