Season 4 is here and it's about time for me to stop toying with you all and start kick some ass. Props goes out to the Royals for their title, FINALLY!!! It will be short lived though. Everyone knows I'm unstoppable so with that, good luck to everyone and have fun playing for second place.

Whitey - those 3 teams might be able to beat me or the Giants in a best of 7 series only if the sim continues the wacky way it's currently going. With no decent starting pitchers on any of those teams, there's no way they should be doing as well as they are. Thank you for the unpredictable, worthless pitchers somehow pitch good, sim. We'll see in a couple of days just how "good" the Least, I mean East is. The playoffs seem to bring the best out in the sim.

As far as my team's players...

I know my pitching staff should be far better than the we are. I have a very high era because of Nerio Rodriguez. If you take his numbers off of my staff, his 50 innings and 8 ERA, I would have one of the best staffs in baseball. My starters are all above average, and with goldsmith, clonts anchoring my bullpen, I get one of the better staffs in the national league. This comes with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball, 1.7 million.

What did i tell ya?!? Three of four from the cubs, again fuc$#%@ed in xtra innings. I am now in first place, and who knows with my dominating pitching staff. Three more tough series for my 'stros. We will see how it goes.

Whitey,

I just feel bad that I have to play J's mets, because when I take 3 of 4 from him, that will give your team an advantage. Hopefully he can make up the ground in the last two series of the season.

ok, I was keeping quiet but you had to bring me in on this!!!

I'm just wondering what you mean by 3 of 4? You want 3 of my 4 top prospects or something? Cause I KNOW you're not thinking you're gonna take 3 of 4 games from me.

In fact, after I take 3 of 4 games from you, it wont be long before you're in the basement of the NL West where you belong!

I just hope the Dodgers win the west so either me or Whitey or whoever wins the East, can rest guys in the NLCS to get ready for the World Series!

Another famous Whitey comeback, "you're cracking me up/you're joking right". That's his only comeback to posts when someone talks smack against him. I'm glad to see that things haven't changed.

J,
West vs. East, the West should always take at least 3 of 4. and like I said, you will probably have some ground to make up on Whitey, but you probably can do it. You two are fighting for 5th place in the NL, since 1-4 go to the teams in the west.

I hope you don't take it personally, but 3 of 4 is pretty much in the bag!

Game 2 Astros 0 at Mets 8
Game 3 Astros 2 at Mets 10
Game 4 Astros 1 at Mets 7

I hearby declare Wammie to be on a gag order the rest of the season...

Whitey - big series tonight!!!!!

I'm just hoping for a split. You've got a tougher Week 16 series than I do, and the Purple Pimpster may still yet have playoff dreams for this year. Although, I did lose 3 of 4 to the Cubs earlier this year.... Should be fun!!!!

Good Luck

I have to take 3 out of 4 to even have a chance at the division...

My pitching is terrible and the only way I win games nowadays is to outhit the other team. If I do end up losing the division title to you, at least I will feel comfortable knowing that you should thump the Padres in the LCS.

Good luck to you, although I don't think you'll need it

First of all, Wammie is a friend of mine. We went to high school together. Secondly, I will sweep the Least champions in the NLCS. My pitching has been so-so this year but when the post-season comes around, they'll step up and be the dominant staff that they've always been. I'll be the one to bring the World Series trophy back to the NL.

Oh, I was wondering why Wammie decided to join in on the Cardinals bashing after it was basically me and you slinging mud at each other for an entire season.

Speaking of the postseason...has anyone noticed if the team with the best regular seaon record has won the World Series every year?? I know that the Cubs had the best record for the first 2 seasons and won the world series, but I was not sure about the third season...I don't think it should work out that way every year, but I was just curious what the sim does.

J - I don't know what the heck happened in our series! My team just went nuts with the bats. My pitching still sucks though. Your guy Ramirez might have had the game of the year in the first game: 4-5, 3 HR, 1 2B, 6 RBI

A lot of SWP produced in our 4 games (for the hitters).. ;)

Can the Braves play spoiler or possibly make it a three-way tie for first?? Do the Cubbies have 1 more good series in them before this nightmarish season comes to an end for them?? We'll find out tonight.

I emailed the commish already, but if you check out the games scheduled for tonight it has the Orioles playing the Whitesox in a a one game play-off. Should be the Royals and Sox.

I think it will be funny if it lets me play them. Would say that it will be a good practice game, but I know that the dam Royals are going to win and then beat me in extra innings, game 7, ALCS. It's happened 2 years in a row, why not three?

Anyone else have over 100 million in cash? I would go overpay for some free agents, but seem to be able to win with cheap players. We shall see. If there is a legitimate stud out there I will make a bid.

Whitey,

My other team was down to 13 million and I was stressing. Had about 6 weeks left in season and my weekly salary was over 5.5 million. I started selling prospects for cash....lol!!

My team also got hot and went to game 7 of the ALCS, losing to the Orioles. Isn't it ironic that the Orioles kick my Royals teams ass and the Royals kick my O's teams ass. No justice.

I think the first two weeks dictate the whole season. If you get that crappy road schedule and start off with a losing record, you are toast.

Luckily for me, I guess, I lost 4 stud players to retirement and chose not to resign two others. My salary is down to a respectable 4 million a week and my team has started off 11-1 with less talent. Makes me totally rethink overpaying for players. I wanted to try both strategies and managed both teams differently and have managed to find success with both.

Never fear Wammie, I still won't pay more than 10-15 million a year for the stud of studs unless it was the one player needed to fill my last weakness.

I have plenty of holes to fill, and besides, as long as I can win with a salary at 2 million a week, why jack it up?

I have not really looked through the fa's yet, but i doubt there will be any one there worth 10-15 mil a year anyway. I have increased my payroll this season by signing some guys long term. went from 1.2 million to 1.8 million. started the season with a big home stand too, so i have plenty of cash.

Oh yes, good luck to all of the teams in the play offs.

2 years in a row that the Cardinals win the East in a one game playoff. I don't know what gets into my team for these one game playoffs, but last year and this year I won by a large margin in the game. Brian Moehler comes up with the best performance of his career just when the Cardinals neede it most. I am not looking forward to going against the Padres pitching staff. I do think I will score some runs though because my offensive players are performing much better with the new sim.

I can only improve on last year's performance (getting swept by the Giants).

White Sox beat the Royals thanks in part to a huge trade I made with them (he got Lucca, Lawton, and Moskau....I got Feramisco, Caraciolli)..

Congrats to Whitesox for pulling the upset. Puts a lot of pressure on my boys to win it without the Royals in the way.

Brock, I agree, Bohannon wins the NL CY hands down. He has been the most consistant pitcher in the league each year

In the AL, I would make a pitch for my closer Mickey Mantei.
He pitched in 16 games. He had 13 saves and the other three games were wins. He allowed 13 hits and zero runs for a perfect 0.00 ERA.
Other than Mantei and maybe some good games by Reed, I don't have any "studs". I was looking at the leaderboard and rarely do you see any Oriole players. No players in the top ten in any of the important statistical categories.

J, sorry Brutha. I was rooting for you to win. I know you have rebuilt that club from ground up. Next year is your year!

I need you to help me with my two SWF teams. I am moving tomorrow and might not be settled until next Friday. If you can hook me up, here is the deal. All I need you to do is to make two identical trades per team. Go from Warner to Culepepper and sell whatever TE I have and buy Walls. Both after the games are played but before price change. This is barring any injuries, yada yada....

The team names are TCBRaiders and NotASpork. My password is the same for every team, but if you forgot it I will email it to you. Let me know that we are cool.

I am now at 112 million and still have some more play-off income coming in. If I beat the Sox and go to at least game 5 versus NL champ I should have over 125 million. Play-offs are where you get the big bucks.

Cards and O's both at 3-1. Bohannon got smoked in game one Brock. Looks like your bullpen lost some for you too. Good luck tomorrow night to all of us. Hopefully I will be back online soon.

For the second time in 3 years the sim screwed me over. Here's Whitey's play by play in the bottom of the 9th in game 6.

Hoiles Flies out. Horner Strikes out. Cirillo reaches on an error by Bravo. Camilli homerun. Cirillo scores. Camilli scores.

A god damn error with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th!!! Bullshiit.

Barring a miraculous comeback, it looks like the Orioles will be the World Champions this season in PP2. My set-up guy blew the first 2 games for me. I was hoping I wouldn't have to use the set-up guy and I put my shaky relievers there. Murphy's Law kicked in and my setup guy pitched the eighth inning of both games, go figure.

I'm going to try and take this to seven games though...

If anyone knows about losing game sevens, it's me. Each of my two GSB teams have been to the play-offs three out of first four years. You have seen how the Royals toy with me here. On my other team I have lost the ALCS, game seven, two years running. That includes starting off 3-1 and being swept the next day.

I didn't want to let my crappiest reliever(Almanza) lose an important game for me, so I didn't play him. He is scheduled to start game 4 this week, but that's only because we don't have a game 4. Don't want to let my "secret" line-up changes out of the bag, but I will let you know that you won't be seeing any pitches from Almanza, Whitley, or De Paula barring any 20 inning games.

My prediction is that it goes to extra innings, game seven, before it is decided. On the very bright side, I am over 122.8 million and should eclipse my projected mark of 125 million.

Maybe I can make one of those cool Brock bids and pay 125 million a year for an OF. Just teasing Brock, I know it was an accident ;)

On a side note, early on in this thread I talked about my "scrub" players. One of them was Valenti, my starting pitcher. Because I am jinxing him right now and we know that the series will not end after game one tonight, he will probably get shelled, but here is his season info prior to winning the first game of the ALCS and the World Series.
4-2 record, 2.44 ERA in 10 games pitched. 70 innings pitched allowing 57 hits, 19 runs, 26 walks and 46 K's.
Maybe not an all-star performer, but solid play for a cheap price. Would have had more wins if I had any kind of hitting this year.

Good luck tonight Whitey!

TB - I tinkered with my pitchers for the last 3 games. Basically, if my starters do a decent job, then I will only be using my three horses in the bullpen (Adkins, Negrette, Caraciolli) to finish out the game. Don't ask me why I didn't do that for the first 4 games. Live and learn I guess...
