Rating | AVG | 491-501 | 0.325 | 481-490 | 0.304 | 471-480 | 0.297 | 461-470 | 0.298 | 451-460 | 0.281 | 441-450 | 0.261 | 431-440 | 0.236 | 421-430 | 0.227 | 411-420 | 0.246 | 401-410 | 0.245 | 381-400 | 0.215 | 361-380 | 0.173 |
Looks like my preliminary casual observations of a BA = AVG - 180 rule of thumb(as opposed to the old AVG - 150 rule) hold some weight. Overall(not shown in table), the BA is 179 less than the AVG, so it seems pretty feasible that this is a good general rule as to how your hitters should perform...
Jaysuade says that he has HR data and will post it shortly, so I'll leave that to him. I'll get myself to work on collecting pitcher data now(ie, control correlation to walks, each pitch's correlation to hits allowed, etc.)

Wonder where Jaysuade is...
pitcher stuff should be up next weekend, that should be a little more telling than this stuff.

YR...it all depends on what you define as the "average hitter". With the old sim...a 420-430 AVG hitter was defined as average. When it became apparent that most teams were stockpiling on 450+ AVG guys, Commish redifined "average hitter" as about 450 AVG.
As for Mr 221 AVG. First off, why the hell is he playing? Second, he obviously hasn't always been a 221 AVG. The guy who had the team before you was not playing this guy(I assume he's over 30), so his ratings fell. Therefore, career stats have no meaning whatsoever in ths case.
