Jose Canseco bounced back from a subpar year (for him) and led the Rangers in most offensive categories. He led the team in batting average at .331 and led with 14 doubles (both 2nd in the league). He also added 12 stolen bases and took over the leadoff spot in the batting order when Chad Hermanson was traded. Jose also finally figured it out in the field committing no errors in 64 games. 2. Rey Ordonez 3. Nick Johnson / Greg Vaughn Best Pitcher 1. Donovan Osbourne heated up down the stretch, lowering his ERA to 3.62 which placed among the league leaders. Donovan's 7-1 record is misleading in a good way: he pitched at the top of the rotation, so he faced opposing aces all year. Additionally, Donovan could have had even more wins with help from the Rangers' bullpen. He also placed 5th in the leage with 78 strikeouts. 2. Jaret Wright 3. Jeff Harris Top Rookie 1. As the Rangers have aged, rookies have been few and far between. When Chad Hermanson and Ryan Thompson went to the Rangers, Brian L. Hunter took over in the outfield. And boy, did he. The only rookie to play for the Rangers in season 5, Hunter batted .341, walked 26 times in 36 games, posting a .452 OBP, which would have led the league had he qualified. | ||||||
