I will summarize the candidates for the NL and I will let somebody else do the AL...

For MVP, I really only see 2 candidates:

Rico Brogna 64 G, 65 H, 8 2B, 4 3B, 17 HR, 62 RBI, 41 RUNS, .346 OBP, .520 SLG, .256 AVG
Wally Joyner 64 G, 87 H, 12 2B, 0 3B, 16 HR, 46 RBI, 48 RUNS, .396 OBP, .551 SLG, .326 AVG

The only real discrepancies come in RBI, OBP, SLG and AVG. You make the call.

Now, for the Cy Young it's a little more wide open. I see 4 real candidates:

Jeff Harris 10-2 3.48 ERA, 106 IP, 92 H, 38 BB, 68K
Mike Bertotti 10-3 3.81 ERA, 104 IP, 89 H, 44 BB, 72 K
John Seaman 9-0 3.45 ERA, 94 IP, 81 H, 35 BB, 58 K
Roger Clemens 8-3 3.19 ERA, 110 IP, 95 H, 33 BB, 66 K

Pretty tough call there..let's hear some opinions

NL MVP: Joyner
NL Cy Young: Phillip Norton

I want to give honorable mention to my closer, Mike Romano. Here's his stat line:

0-0 0.60 ERA 13 Saves, 15 IP, 13 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 11 K

The "earned run" was actually unearned. A guy got on by an error in the 9th inning and ended up scoring. He would not have scored because of a strikeout and double play that followed back to back singles. I wrote the commish and he said he was aware of the problem and hoped for a future fix.

AL MVP: Dave Nillson(unanimously)
AL Cy Young: Julio Rangel(unanimously)

Brock - Pretty impressive numbers for your closer, I must admit. I was surprised by your choice of Norton considering he is 3 wins behind the league leader and almost a full run behind the ERA leader. Even though his h/ip and k/bb numbers are very good, I can't see him being the Cy Young.

I Agree with your AL picks, I don't see any other choices..

P.S. Brogna kicked some a$$ for you this season, huh?

First of all the ERA leader was a middle reliever. Norton's 3.50 is the same as those listed except Clemens. He led all the contenders you listed in K's by a wide margin (93 K's, next is 72). He was 7-2, which is almost and identical winning % comapred to the guys listed, except for Seaman. He gave up the 2nd fewest h/ip and the fewest walks. I would vote Mark Gardner second, and Seaman 3rd.

Brogna finally lived up to expectations except that his average went down 30 points in the last few weeks. Petrick kicked ass too. He was by far the best acquisition I've ever made.

I can finally say, without a doubt, with 100% certainty, I WILL WIN THE WORLD SERIES NEXT YEAR!!!

Brock-

I think you'll find if you look around other leagues that Brogna is really underachieving for your team. I have Brogna in D2 and he hit .290 with 16 doubles, 27 homers, 78 RBI's and 56 runs scored. I don't think Brogna is responding well to your management style. lol

See you in the Series next season. *cough* *cough*

Looks like I'm going to have to get Brogna back on the juice. I was very happy with his numbers this year compared to the last couple. Hopefully the bastard leads me to my first title next year.

I agree with Brock's choices (scary, isn't it? j/k)

Thanks for hexing Rangel. He sure stunk it up in the game that mattered most.

TB - Sorry about Rangel. I guess his actual ratings finally showed. Hopefully you can come back from the 3-1 deficit.

I didn't come back. The Royals sure seem to have my number.

What is wrong with Rangels ratings? Every single one is over 400. I did a quick search to see how many pitchers have every rating over 400. I came up with 7 and they are all good pitchers. Rangel has 68 career wins, that's 4 behind Thompson and Clark. I wouldn't trade Rangel for either one. I wouldn't mind adding either to my staff and the same goes for Bohanon, but I wouldn't trade Rangel for him either.

Rangel is 29, locked in for 3 more years and comes a little cheaper than all 3 of those. I have plenty of other players I am more concerned with.

His ratings are "good" but not great and they sure don't match the stats that he put up. 418 FB, 421 BB, 447 CU, and 406 CON. He's not even in the same category as Bohanon, Clark, or Thompson. Sure these pitchers are in their mid to late 30's but they're still the cream of the crop. I was just saying that Rangel could definitely be hit by a good team based on his ratings. Good luck next year. Maybe you'll meet me in the World Series.
