Well, I got my ass kicked last night.

J - I just thought you guys were past the 4th week of the season. When I checked the records it should only 16 games have been played.

Wammie - Does your poll allow the same person to vote more than once? I am saying that because who in their right mind would vote for the Padres to win the World Series besides Brock? (They have 2 votes)

Also, cool comments on the Power Rankings. Maybe you should have wrote next to your team, "Will be tough to make the series with the loss of Callier." ;)

Blah? Waddaya mean blah? Take a look at Jovino Carvajal. He leads the league in average, slugging, and on base percentage. You could make a case that he's the best hitter in the league this year.

Whitey,
I just tried to vote for the Orioles again and it wouldn't take it. I do have 3 votes total, though.

I put a comment on there that Whitey must have 4 computers. Can anyone see that?

Start your real team next year Timing. Your farm system is strong enough for many seasons to come. It should be fun to see how big of a turn around your club has when you do.

Damn, I just found out about Callier. I am so pissed! Good thing I made the move for Bergman. Hopefully my team can battle and come together in this time of crisis. Marquis is going to have to come up big over the next 8-9 starts, if he gets that many.

My Astros magic number is down to 1, for my first ever berth into the playoffs. took 3 of 4 from whitey, including an extra inning thriller. The only game I lost was Callier's spot in the rotation.

I think timing is going to get the number 1 pick, again. it is becomming a p2 tradition. I would hate to see that one broken. knowing your team brock, you will try to throw some games, but will sweep me!

While playing Brock's Padres this week, my best active sp ERA wise Williams gives up 12 runs and gets injured! talk about bad luck. lucky for me he is only hurt for one week. he will be back for the playoffs.

btw everyone in the playoffs, there will be no games on thursday according to the commish.

my first ever draft pick! Season 1, Round 1 pick 7 (I think) Pretty sweet AVG rating, considering he only has 3 stars!!!!!

So, 5 or 6 "years" ago, depends on who you ask ;)

All of his ratings are still going up too!!!!!

TB, did you miss out on revenue from getting swept? just wondering. I got 4.5 millionish for the first day (four games) and 4.5 for the second day (one game). first time in the playoffs for me, and i don't really know how it works.

My pitching came up huge for me in the World Series. Iget all 4 starters back next season and my big 3 in the bullpen. The only problem I will have is if Lopez, Luuloa and Carradonna retire.

Whitey will be tough again for me in the playoffs next year. Brock, you won't be comming out of the West for a long time, because I should be winning it for many years to come.

Good job Whitey, I feel good that I was able to get at least one game from you! I will get ya next year I hope, barring injuries to who would have been Cy Young (Callier)

That mean someone will sign a guy for WAY TOO much, then wish he could trade him, but since he signed him for way too much he can't. so there is an upside to the bad fa's.

also there will always be bad fa crops as long as everyone trades their would be fa's. there probalby won't be very many good fa crops for a while. the only way a guy will go to fa is if a contender needs him to play to try to win a world series. other wise people will always just trade them, rather than trying to resign them after the season.

Ah, only lost Carradonna to free agency. Still have Lopez and Luuloa. I will bring up a guy from AAA (Kelly) who is at 460 AVG and still improving. I am also gonna try and make a trade for another hitter.

Anybody want to trade me a good hitter (>450 AVG, around 400 HR and GAP) for 3 prospects and cash?

The loss of Ramirez for me was huge. I would have rather lost any one else on my team. Whitey our trade two seasons ago now seems to be Lopez for Camilli. You got the better end of this long term deal.

Wammie - You never know when players are going to retire. If it were reversed and Lopez retired instead of Manny, then you would gain the advantage in that trade. Looking back, it really was a good trade for both of us because Manny, Camilli, Carradonna and Lopez all produced very well after the trade. I wish all trades worked out so well..

Lopez had his one good year out of four. Now he'll have 3 bad years. That has been his pattern. The first year I had him, he was damn good. The next 2 years he sucked and then I traded him the third to Wammie. He didn't do sh!t that year and then this past year he was decent for the Cards.

Ramirez just couldn't handle the pressure of playing on an over achieving team. He knew they would be back in the cellar this year and he wanted to get out of Houston before that happened.

Whitey, congrats on winning the WS again!

I was pretty confident going in that I would beat the Royals. Shocked was the slightest of emotions I felt at being swept by them.
Reed and Rangel both had great years but sucked in the playoffs. My hitting is still suspect too. Sure wanted to win a championship before Hollandsworth retired.

Wammie, I only got big cash the first night. Then I just got what everyone else eliminated got, 2 million each week of play-offs.

The only free agent I saw that I even thought about bidding on was Hunter. He is already at 12 million a year. I do need a stud OF, though.

That sucks for you TB on the money, but good for the rest of us. less money for you to spend on players!

I agree with you whitey, our trade worked out very well for both sides.

brock, we will see about the cellar after this season. look for me back on top of the west again. we will see how your theory on Lopez turned out. you are right, he didn't do jack for me but has preformed well for whitey.

LOL, I still have around 130 million to spend.

I opted to not bid on Hunter. I think I will be able to get a good OF'er through a trade.

My team salary is only 45 million for the season. That's only 2.8 million a week. I have tried to buy a championship the last two seasons through free agency and it hasn't worked. Maybe I will go back to the "cheap roster" and see how that goes.

Why don't you do the honors of starting us a new thread Wammie. This one is taking longer and longer to load.

...and merely moments later I change my mind and decide to bid on Hunter...lol.

I did a search for OF with over 400 avg, over 400 homer, and over 300 speed and there isn't many.

I tried to offer him a one year 16 million offer and he wouldnt take it. He can't do math. His current contract is at 13 million per year. I first tried 3 years 45 million and he wouldn't take that either. I hate to gamble long term if he doesn't produce.

Whitey - I guess a .260 avg for someone on your team is good. I guess we just judge performances differently. I'll be waiting for the "Brock you were right about Lopez" after the end of this season. By the way, I'll trade you my crack pipe for that meth lab you have in the back of your trailer.

MVP??? Feramisco was by far your best player and the MVP of your team. But league MVP, I would say either Feramisco or Ramirez.

I know we should let this thread die since we are in season seven, but can I get an objective opinion from someone else on whether or not Lopez was the league MVP? He led the league in RBI and RUNS and was second in HRs and near the top in SLG%.

Brock - RBI and RUNS are far more important statistics than is batting average. Why do we always disagree on everything??? I guess it makes our league more interesting.. ;)

The problem is that your team had a lot of good players and Wammie's had just a few. Ramirez really stood out on his team. The MVP is not just based on stats. It's mainly based on the impact a player had on his team. Would they have been able to do what they did without a player? I think your team still would have done the same with or without Lopez. Wammie's on the other hand wouold not have been nearly as good without Ramirez. Also, I don't think your team would have been nearly as good without Feramisco.

You have a point there. The thing is that Lopez produced so many runs for my team (RBI + RUNS - HRs) that it's hard to ignore him.
