Subject: Just how Fickin Dumb is YR? Posted by: beastiemiked - [145191710] Thu, Nov 09, 16:52 Let me submit this email to you from our overly intelligent gurupie "YankeesRule Dear fellow U2 Owners, I hereby withdraw from this league of Grand Slam Baseball Clubs. If you would like full disclosure, here it is: I have been a fairly succesful GSB in the past and wanted to try something. This was to take a basement team with a lot of cash and turn it into a lean mean winning machine. So I took on the Dodgers in this league two seasons ago when they were at .333 with 125 million in the bank. I finished that season with no movement, then made a huge run in the offseason. I landed names such as Lofton, Hernandez, Bravo and Carracioli to my team. I wound up with 62 million left. Things were no doubt looking up. Then I landed a few more veterans such as Stoval with exceedingly high salaries. This brought me down to 42 million. I was on pace to go bankrupt by the middle of this season. I finished the year at a mediocre .452, but I was at .500 going into this final week or two. I still thought I could salvage the team. I did have a good foundation. I had the leader in BA, and 2 others in the top ten. I had #2 in homeruns and another in the top ten. I had 4 out of the top ten in stolen bases, including the #1 spot. I had the leader in runs scored, and two others in the top 10. I had #3 in wins and #1 in saves and saves conversion ratio. But I soon saw that there was no one on the free agent list that could fill my three huge gaping holes: 1B, SP and RP. That's ok I said to myself, just one more year...Then BOOM!!!! Retire after retire after retire. Hernandez gone! Hoiles gone! One after another after another! So I was left with a team that doesn't have a catcher or 3B at all, mediocre starting pitching and a bad bullpen. Thus I will release all of my players. You will want to pick some up! I have the likes of Lofton, Carracioli and Greer. Good night and farewell! Maybe I'll see one of you in another league someday! Sincerely, Johnny T. If he is just giving players and money away, you should contact the commish, and have him fix it. if a player gets pissed and just gives money away before he quits the team is bs, plus if a guy just releases his players, that sucks too. how is any one every going to try to build up a team if when they get the team it has no players? YR sounds like he tried to make a bad team a good team like the dodgers by spending a bunch of money, then when they don't he just quits, sounds like a bit of a puss. | |||||

beastiemiked...please forward your thread to the Commish. YR should/must be banned from all future GrandSlamBaseball and Gurupie Activities/competition. It is one thing to resign/giveup a team and entirely another thing to trash a league that other players have and will continue to put effort into, not to mention the unfortunate sole(s) who inherit that franchise. YR has shown a true lack of sportsmanship and an extremely immature sense of responsibillity. | |||||

The consensus in U2 is we are not going to bid on the waived players, but some people are bidding on them. I've got confidence the commish will resolve everything. | |||||

For me personally I have won a couple WS titles and I would see this rebuilding process as a challenge. Makes for a good spin on the game. Winning with a rebuilt team would bring that much more satisfaction. I have a team in the new gurupie league and am rebuilding it from the ground up. I actually enjoy this and see it as a challenge. A little redundant there, I guess YR doesn't see it my way or he would have kept the team. What he is doing now is just wrong. To ruin a league is horrible. If that was one of mine I would be just as upset and he should be banned from all GSB activity. | |||||

However the studs that could have gotten the new owners prospects were left on the waiver wire because he signed them to such huge contracts and he was pretty well bankrupt. Luckily we have a new owner and he sounds like he won't "pull a YR". | |||||

I would be pissed off to find him taking over a team in my league. he would spend outlandish money on fa's. this would not allow any other team to make any serious runs at fa's because if he doesn't win, he will just get a new team somewhere else, which could mess up a league for several seasons. this point in my mind is bad enough, but to give money and/or players away is just WAY over the line. just to let you know, i am not the culprit, the YR you are talking about is YankeesRule not me, yankeesRule. just wanted to make things clear because i usually post messages on these boards, and i dont want any one to think i am that guy. By the way, i only have teams in z and b3. I am ashamed that a perpitraitor YR would do this. Hope you can resolve your problems. yR not YR :) | |||||

Well, If you want full disclosure, here it is: I was writing a very formal letter, finished it and said to my self, "Yo Vince, (I call myself Vince even though my real name is John) this isn't YR enough!" So I sat there and pondered and pondered. Ahh! You now the rest. BTW, I traded 25 mill for nothing to the Rangers and he accepted it. Then I tried to trade another 20 mill, but he said that it was anti-trust. And I'm like, "*beep* *beep* *beep*!" So I wait...anbd I wait...and I wait...FINALLY, I'm banned. It took the commish like 3 days to resolve it! P.S. GO NADER/LADUKE 2004!!!!!!! | |||||

For the record, if I had used the name "YankeesRule" or "yankeesRule" or whatever, and this guy came along, I would change my name at the first opportunity. I wouldn't stick to my moral guns, and I certainly wouldn't post on the Gurupie boards and invoke his spirit.
