High risk, high return. I went out and grabbed 1 free-agent this year. N.Perez! I don't think there is a offense that can compare with this one now. I also have 50million reasons to doubt spending all that cash was a wise move but a championship will definately change my mind.

Looks like the Giants are back to a normal rotation. The owners have changed their names too, but I'm assuming that it's the same guys since the team was never vacated.

The new Braves owner has been busy. They have promoted 10 players to bring their ML roster to 30. Does this guy know what he's doing, or trying to screw the team up any further?

First message from Astros owner. Thanks to Cubs GM for mail invite.

Have had a dissapointing year considering that this team is probably the best one i have (certainly in the best state when i took over).
Adkins win loss is dissapointing considering his resonable ERA. Hopefully i can add some pitching in the off season and improve for next year.

With regards to the Giants, i posted a welcome message to them without thinking about it. Synocco is probably right that it is the same person(s) but at least they have reverted to a normal rotation.

Good luck to those involved in this years playoffs.

The Braves only brought up players that have recognizable names, i.e. Vladamir Guerrero, Trevour Hoffman. Never mind the fact that they have ratings in the 200's. I've sent him an email explaining the GSB naming scheme to him. Hopefully he'll learn quickly.

I hope the braves aren't the new "INDIANS". Get it? After sending this email to the GIANTS: A few of the members in this league (L2). Aren't happy about the way you are using your short relief to setup Bohannon. In this league we try to play the game as realistic as possible. I mean Bohannon in a full season would have way over 450ip at this pace. Next season can you please go back to the 4 starter rotation? We try to preserve baseball's integraty in this league. Please work with us. He replied "No problem"! Let's keep tring to get quality active owners here.

Good luck to the Dodgers tomorrow. It seems to be a pretty fair match up between my Mets and Put Me in, Coach's Dodgers. Both teams finished 46-18. It seems the Mets have a slight edge in offense (average wise, anyway) and the Dodgers have a slight edge with their pitching staff. The Mets are making their first apperance in the NLCS, and intend on staying there for many years. They endured 6 long years of rebuilding, from a team with nothing, to a team that seems to have all the pieces. Should be interesting.

Good luck to the Yankees and the Royals in the AL. Now for some predictions:

Royals over Yankees in 7
Mets over Dodgers in 7
Mets over Royals in 6

Feel free to post your own predictions.

I congratulate the Mets for an outstanding season. I knew your time was coming, but I didn't think it would be this year. However, don't get too comfortable in the NLCS because the Cubs will make sure that you have to earn it every year. :) Watch out for us next year! The Season 8 Cubbies will be stronger than ever.

My postseason predictions:
Dodgers over Mets in 7
Yanks over Royals in 7
Dodgers over Yanks in 6

Mr.Met, you got to keep in mind that while you played against Orioles and Whitesox this year, Dodgers had to face Yankees and Royals. I'm quite sure that makes a big difference both in terms of standing and statistics. So ya, for the record, I take dodgers over you:)

Mets winning the division means that this is the first offseason when I actually hope the Yankees don't lose ANYONE to retirements. :) C'mon Sexon, Bravo, Monds, Zywica, Gryboski, Thompson, Martinez, Reed - stick around for another round. Especially you Thompson! Beer is on Coglin!

Okay, here's my predictions: I predict a Dodger sweep in the NL, and a near Royal sweep in the AL, thanks to a bullpen blowup in game 1. Wow, I would not have guessed either. I figured the Dodgers had the edge, but who would have guessed a sweep. I was thinking game 1 was key to the series for my team, and when I saw the bullpen collapse allowing the Yanks to pull it out I thought I was done for. I figured Downs would give me a good chance to win game 2 and that Scott, if he pitched as he should, could give me a boost in game 3. Callier has been spotty for two seasons, but thanks to the offense he doesn't have to be perfect.

at 7-6, Thompson is a Cy Young candidate by name only. I would throw my rookie Ben Weber in there before him or better yet, my closer Romulo Martinez 1.23 era 1-0 with 19 saves in 20 appearances.

Yeah, Weber probably does have better credentials than Thompson. But hey, those are only my personal nominations. There are probably some that I've missed, especially in the Rookie of the Year category.

I was surprised by how well Weber did. Are we gonna be seeing Randy Niles in action next season? :) He looks pretty studly. Can you imagine if the Braves had kept all of their young pitching? Brian Carmody, Randy Niles, and Jeff Harris would be a fearsome triumvirate of young guns. The Braves had hitters too... Man, that would have been a dynasty.

I'm going to have a tough time against the Dodgers. It will probably go 6 or 7, and I give his team the slight edge. I just hope my top 3 starters can tame those Dodger bats enough for my bats to come alive. Should be a good series. I predict that if I lose game 1, I will lose the series 5-1. If I win games 1 and 2, then I predict a 4-2 series win for my Royals. If Scott pitches well in game 3 that could change the tide, but he's struggled this year and those big bats are a little scary.

    My Award Nominations and rankings:

    NL MVP
    1. Perez 1.051 OPS
    2. Ramirez .937 OPS *74 RBI*
    3. Carvajal .939 OPS
    4. Taveras .934 OPS

Perez is the obvious winner IMO, but Ramirez put up some big RBI numbers to finish a close 2nd. I'm big on OPS so Carvajal finishes above Taveras.

    AL MVP
    1. Brown .959 OPS
    2. Jackson .930 OPS
    3. Larkin .911 OPS
    4. Glaus .904 OPS

Brown had an impressive season and swiped 25 SBs on top of that. Again, OPS is the main criteria in how I ranked these guys.

    NL CY Young
    1. Rangel 1.21 WHIP
    2. Bergman 1.15 WHIP
    3. Carmody 1.24 WHIP
    4. Bell 1.20 WHIP
    5. Corey 1.23 WHIP

The NL has more quality top pitchers than the AL and made for a tight race. I feel Rangel has the best overall numbers although Bergman had a better ERA. 3-5 could be in any order based on their close numbers.

    AL CY Young
    1. Downs 1.18 WHIP
    2. Thompson 1.07 WHIP
    3. Martinez .68 WHIP *19 Sv*
    4. Rubio 1.31 WHIP

Thompson must have been unlucky when you look at his record and then at the important numbers- ERA, WHIP and K/BB ratio. He'd be my pick if his record was just slightly better. You could make a very good case for Martinez with those impressive numbers, and I seriously considered him but I tend to favor starters. Still hard to ignore.

You made less in the WS because my team did not have as good a regular season record as the Mets did. Obviously, my team was better than the record shows. I added the big bat of Coquillette midway through the season which made a big difference. Well it is now a 3 game series. Scott has been pulled from the rotation and Callier will pitch if their is a game 7. The Dodger bats were ferocious in two games, but got tamed in the other two. Hopfully I can tame them twice more.

Looking at next season, my future will be determined by my AGING players. The heart of my lineup is aging... Perez, Ramirez, Williams. I need some more years out of them until my young prospects are ready.

    Hey Cubbies,
I am interested in Maztine(catcher), with Cancel starting you can afford to move him. I have a lot of players you can probably use.
I see that you need a 2B and I have Newhan. He has 476BA with around 300HR and Gap and 474 Speed with a cheap contract.
I also have Ripken(3B) and Lesher(of), T.Davis(c) available. Also look at my AAA and A leagues. I have put some players at A because I ran out of room at AAA. IMO I have the deepest farm system and probably the best, only time will tell. If you are interested try to package something. But as you can see, I have my other top 10 prospects already penciled in as starters soon.

RBI is determined by where you are in the line up and how good rest of your team is though. So I'd vote Perez for MVP since he has higher OPS, which IMO is a better indication of how good an hitter is.

Well, it was a great series. The Royals were able to stretch the mighty Dodgers to 7 games before losing a close one giving the Dodgers their first title. The Dodgers should cherish it as the middle of their lineup decided to retire. The Royals avoided losing any players to retirement and only one starter was allowed to leave for free agency, but his spot is already filled. I expect another battle from the Whitesox next season in the AL West as the Royals attempt to win their 6th consecutive division title.

I finished my year in a bitter sweet way. Finally won my first series, by the way, the ROYALS gave me a great run 'til the end. And losing Ramirez(back-to-back MVPs) and Perez makes my have a big decision on next years direction. Retool or Rebuild?

Roger Clemens is going to seriously disrupt the balance of power in whatever division he lands. Here's hoping he heads to the AL!

There's a major problem when you can count the number of players in a team's MLB/AAA/AA roster on your fingers and still have digits left over. Exhibit A: The Cardinals.
