Well since I am the newcomer to the league i figured i'd start the posting here. This league is by far the most active of the 5 that i am in, all the players know what they are doing and each team has a chance to be competitive unless of course they decide to rebuild for that year. I was lucky enough to get BMD's team which had tons of cash and a pretty solid base, a few FA pick-ups (ie norton, Mallern) plus a couple huge trades for Bohanon and Grissom and my team is set for contention. Good luck to all in the league and thanks for the hospitality that you have shown me so far...

Good luck, Matt!

The NL East will be interesting this year, with both the Cards and Mets having strong teams, and hopefully, my Cubs can have the bullpen get from our starters to our sensational Magnante to close out the game. Don't count out the Braves, if their offence is strong enough to carry their pitching, they have a shot at an upset.

Somehow I stole two from the Cubs. My team is horrible. It really is horrible, I am just starting to build up a farm system. I might even be able to compete in 2-3 years but for now how the hell did I win more than one game against anyone?

Off to a decent start. I'm 5-3 and in first place but that doesn't mean anything yet. It's waaay to early for me to be happy with first place.

Looks like the NL East is going to be a tight battle to the end as Matt G's 6-2 Cardinals have a two game lead on the pack consisting of my Cubs, the Mets and Braves. What happened to Rubio? 0-2 with a 12.80 ERA. Runner-up for the Cy Young in season 1 has imploded the past two seasons and is just plain awful now. Anyone wanting some prospects? I need a quality SP (again) to replace the dwindling Glavine and Bergman.

Cardinals keep playing above their heads, I am waiting for my hitters to just collapse. Norton has been a key pick-up thus far 3-0 1.64 ERA lets hope he can keep it up. Bohanon isn't making his 1 mill a week with his ERA at 4.05 and 2 - 1. He won't be my #1 starter for very long with that line. i can't deside who to start at DH. Brown who in 2 games has 4 RBI's 4 BB 1 triple .313 OBP but is hitting only .083 or Dan Ramirez who is hitting like .270 and has a couple HR's to play. Oh well i might just platoon them at that position. I play the redsox this next week, 6 - 6 in the AL East should be a worthy test to see if this 9-3 record is for real. Good Luck to all, have a merry Christmas, and a happy hannakuh

Rumors out of New York have either Jermey Callier (490/462/278/396) or Steve Matcuk (495/461/446/370) being promoted to the Major League Club.

For an all Gurupie league this board is quite quiet. My Dodgers are continuing to surprise me 17-23 is much better than I thought I would be doing at this point in the season. I took 3 from the Astros and two from the Orioles even though I lost 24-3 in the third game, but hey, I'll take it. And I would go with Matcuk becuase his total stats are alot higher than Callier.

Matcuk's been playing the last few games. Pretty good ERA over that time, though he's only 1-0 in those 3 games. Now, I just have to beat those dang Cardinals tonight...

Good series Matt G. I just wish I could have gotten those 3 victories instead. Games 1 and 3 could have gone either way (How about that Game 3?) Now, however, barring a miracle, the Mets are pretty far out of it for this season.

I'm here!! Up and down season so far, but a great surprise from Pena (4th starter 6-2 3.55) in his 1st season in the bigs. It was tough to part with Powell in the offseason, but Pena and Horner have been making it worthwhile thus far. Maybe this could finally be the year we make the Series, but we'll have to fair a bit better in the postseason vs the Cards (3-5 reg season) or Mets (2-2). That's if I can hold off the Dodgers too!

BTW, what happened to the awards last season guys? Let's get those going again this year. Also, is anyone saving the stats pages or was J doing that for our webpage?

If we can raise our interest levels back to how they were when the league was originally created, I'd make the webpage again.

If anyone has the stats from before, send them over, I may have a couple things but I doubt it. Didn't J quit the league and give full control to Eustacio, swami? So, I don't think he'd have it either, but we'll see.

My Cubs have gotten horrible recently, and this was suppose to be the year where the Mets dominance came to an end and it has, but then the Cards took over in the NL East.

If you're still active, give us a shout!

I don't have the stats, but I can check with J when I get back home tonight (9 hour flight this afternoon, ugh).

Still very active. I've been going back and forth with JKaye for our division title since season one.

I just lost Rodgers making this the second straight season where I lost one of my starters for the season around this time. Last year it was De Paula which is the reason I got Rodgers.

AL West is very tough this season. All 4 teams are above .500 with Twarpy's Royals enjoying a 5 game lead over the 23/21(won/lost) Rangers (me), Tincup and the White Sux (all presently tied for 2nd). Royal's need to suffer severe retirement/free agent problems before any real threat of a challenge from us also rans.

I don't have any of the stats pages, because they were being saved by someone else. Not sure who though.

I can start saving them after this season if needed, and hopefully we can get the interest level back up!

The Stros are on the prowl!!!!

Yeah, I love playing in the 02 league because most of the guys are so active and everyone talks smack and its alot more fun than my other leagues, and because its much more competitive too.
I think that I might start making the move to making my team more competitive after this season. I think probably after next season is more likely as I will try to build up a little more money and maybe just make a small move this offseason to try and bring my team to somewhere around 500. Actually a little above 500 since I play 16 games against the Giants and Padres.

3 of 4 from the Mets, I will finish in the vicinity of 500 baring a collapse. The Astros have faltered this year a little and I am fairly close considering how much better his team is then mine. Looks like I will be making the move into competitive mode this offseason.

I am around, I just got back to school and i have a tough semester with 6 classes 19 credit hours(unlike the usual 5 and 15) I will still manage the Cardinals. jay-P I have full control over them BMD passed them off before Free Agency this past year so they are all mine.

As far as this year goes, i just wanted to be competitive but this team is doing awesome, I don't have very much of a farm system but i think I can survive without it as long as the money stays high. Payroll is only 3.7mil a week which is just under 60mil for the year. I have $90 mil in the bank too which leaves for some major FA signings if anyone retired (Bohanon) or if I see another team making some moves. So Far Norton has been amazing after i signed him from FA. He is tops in the league in Wins with 10 and has an ERA of 3.00 just .23 points behind Scott Downs for the best in the league. Hopefully he can bring that down in hops of a Cy Young this year. Brad Hargreavesis absolutly pounding the ball. 22 HR's and 61 RBI's tops in MLB tied in RBI's Only thing barring him from an MVP year will be his avg which has been hovering between .275 and .290. Fermasico though is hitting .361 which is expected. Well to the Mets and Cubbies Good year in the NL East I see many improving teams. the Astros and Braves scare me, stros play me tough (5-3 against them this year) and the braves have tons of AVG hitters, if only for pitching they be in a better position, only problem is they have an old team. Well I hope this league can stay active. if I wint the next 8 games in a row i will have won 50 this year, but chances of that are slim to none. Good luck to all, see you in the NLCS Stros.
