What in the world is a Gurupy? Is it something to be proud of or something to be afraid of?

By definition the word Groupie means:
1 : a fan of a rock group who usu. follows the group around on concert tours

2 : an admirer of a celebrity who attends as many of his or her public appearances as possible

3 : ENTHUSIAST, AFICIONADO

Using the third definition and a playful twist of words(Roto Guru/Groupie= Gurupie)we can say that an enthusiast of this message forum is a Gurupie.

I dig this message forum and find it to have many knowledgeable sports enthusiasts as well as generally intelligent people with a great mix of humor and insight. I would say that it would be something to be proud of.

On the other hand, there is nothing to fear but fear itself. If you are afraid of getting your butt kicked in a fantasy game and you are playing against a Gurupie there is a very good chance it will happen.

GRT means Growth Rate Theory. Not many people know that Amateur player ratings rise prior to being drafted. If you click on a players name after week one sims and look at his stats, they are higher than the numbers it shows on the main screen. After seven weeks you can see that some players with 4 stars have risen by 30 points versus others that have risen by 40 points.
Of course, some players initial ratings are much higher and that also affects the growth rate.

Ahh, Hello The Despiser, my fellow "P" league manager (I'm RSF for short at GSB, manager of the RedSux).

Glad to see you over here. I don't post much in the Rotoguru GSB boards, but I have been know to post a thing or two in the Rotoguru Basketball and Baseball boards.

If you play other fantasy sports games (Smallworld or Swirve Based), this is definitely the site for quality data analysis tools. Check out the "Sortable Stats" (with great filtering tools), "Assimilator" (don't let the name make you nervous) and the great individual sports message boards (some days/posters are better than others, obviously).

See ya here and there.
