0 Subject: New System of growth

There has been alot of concern about the new system of growth on minor league players in GSB. I've decided to detail the growth of four different players who I consider top prospects (I didn't know about GRT, so their ceilings may in fact be low). I will post day by day increases to these players. If anyone has any interest in this, please post saying so, as I will obviosly stop if nobody cares...lol. The new system was implimented in our postseason.

Ricky Pickett: 467 fastball 3-3-4 stars. Ratings before this season: 166-290-215

Curt Schilling: 461 fastball 3-2-4 stars. Ratings before this season: 252-246-296

Mike Rodriguez (1B) 4-2-1 stars. Ratings before this season: 265-228-137

Dean Palmer (3B) 4-3-2 stars. Ratings before this season: 150-136-177

AFTER 6 WEEKS:

Pickett: 173(+7)- 290(same)- 227(+12)

Schilling: 253(+1)- 254(+8)- 297(+1)

Rodriguez: 275(+10)- 233(+5)- 146(+9)

Palmer: 159(+9)- 140(+4)- 186(+9)

Needless to say, none are showing the improvement they would under the old system. Time will tell I guess. BTW, these guys were chosen because they are probably my best low-level prospects. Most of my other prospects are showing the same typ of improvement (or lasch thereof)

I have been tracking players from different leagues. It will be interesting to see if some players have serious growth spurts.

At first, I was confused because a guy gaining 6 points a week should have gained at least 30 points after 6 sims, assuming that he hit his breaking point of 5 on the first sim since the change. He has gained 12 points.

From what I understand, instead of a player hitting these breaking points it is supposed to be possible for them to gain in random increments up until their very last gain. Meaning that this guys last season of gaining he could average 3 points for each sim.

That makes more sense to me and takes some of the "panic" away from the apparent lack of development.

AFTER WEEK 8:

Pickett: 180(+14) 295(+5) 234(+19)

Schilling: 258(+6) 258(+12) 300(+4)

Rodriguez: 282(+17) 239(+11) 151(+14)

Palmer: 169(+19) 150(+14) 191(+14)

OK...VERY preliminary trend does show better activity for the lower ratings. Everything that started at a rating of 215 or lower has gone up at least 14 points in the first 8 weeks, while the two highest ratings showed the least amount of improvement. It is still far too early to determine anything, but it seems to be an early trend among these four.

AFTER WEEK 11:

Pickett: 193(+27) 301(+11) 246(+31)

Schilling: 266(+14) 264(+18) 309(+13)

Rodriguez: 292(+27) 250(+22) 159(+22)

Palmer: 185(+35) 166(+30) 201(+24)

Curiously, it seems that all four had big progressions in the same week. Every single point jump was equal or greater than their average gain/day from the previous 10 weeks.

The rate of growth can't be predicted! Hopefully.

Sheesh...how are we to determine who to keep if we can't predict who will excel? Tell me a years worth of growth will reliably if imprecisely predict ultimate growth.

Did you figure their exact tops with GRT? I had hoped that a player who should gain 3 per day would average @ three per day.
