Posted by: Wammie

We have a thread for forming a new league, what ever. lets talk in here about season 9. there is likely going to be a season 10, so we still have a couple months of p2 to play.

What the hell has gotten into the Dodgers!?!

Whitey's in last place now also, I wonder if that has anything to do with his decision not to "waste" time with his team. Who knows...

PP - He was sending me the same type of trades for Bluma and Coquillette and I laughed at those. I can only imagine how you responded when he tried to get Carmody. I sent him an email telling him that he'll never win anything and that he and his split personality, Sanchez, should just quit while they're in first place because they won't be there for long.

You guys are pretty ruthless, but I guess that's what made our league fun in the first place. Call me a quitter, a coward, whatever you want.

Just because I am not going to monitor my team for GSB, doesn't mean I won't still come in here and bust balls on worm, Brock and the usual suspects..

If you'd explained yourself better we probably could understand better but when you say you're quitting cause you don't want to waste time with this game because of what's happened in the last few weeks. What the heck does that mean?

The only thing I see different is that you're in last place and other people are making trades that you don't like. Anyways, it's our communication, rivalries, and activity that sets us apart from most leagues, not who has how much talent or who wins the Series every year.

Timing has a good point Whitey. Why don't you break out the Norelco, trim that hair you have growing between your legs, and try to catch Worm so you don't finish in last place.

he knows he doesnt have a chance so that is why he is getting out now. a sweep by me tonight will just make things worse for him. i remember a post last season i believe where someone made a comment that finishing below worm is like death. maybe it is true.

I'm sure I'll hear about it in this thread. I won't even have to log into the site to find out what happened in the series worm....another point is once you get to a certain point in the season, the team could run on auto-pilot anyway (except for injuries) so it wouldn't even hurt my team if I didn't pay attention to it for a couple weeks..

I must admit, I am surprised at the start the Rangers got off to. There is still time for Timing to close the gap, but I think his team should be doing better based on the talent (hmmmm, sounds familiar)

Let me try to elaborate on my thoughts. I have had an absolute blast playing this game from the beginning (yes, even when my team sucked for the first 3 seasons). I enjoy the unique features of this game as well as league aspect where you create rivalries and trash-talking buddies. I am just a little nervous about the direction that our league and others our heading.

For this reason, I would prefer a start-from -scratch league. I would love to see all of us from P2 join with some other dedicated GSB owners and form a fresh league.

To avoid being remembered as the a-hole that quit on the rest of the league, I would play out the remaining seasons of P2. Believe me, my intention wasn't to piss off an entire league. It was more of a personal decision.

I am not a quitter, have never been a quitter. I have been playing sports all my life and still do. That's part of the reason why I enjoy these fantasy or simulation games, the competitive nature of them. Many of you know that I am very competitive as are many of you. It's tough to understand someone's entire personality or motivation in life just from a message board so don't judge me based on my decision to leave the league. Like I said, I will finish out the remainder of seasons until it goes to a pay site..that was way too long of a post for this thread.... ;)

I thought we were all with the merger. At least it sure seemed that way. I guess Chiz can take Whitey's place if Whitey is bolting.

BTW, my Rangers have scored more runs that anyone in both leagues and even though my pitching has sucked royally so far it still has the 3rd best ERA in the AL. I started off with road games against the Royals, Orioles, and Yankees but I end up with a ton of home games so we'll see what happens between now and the end of the season.

Timing - I did not officially eliminate myself from the merger. I still want to be a part of another league with the guys from P2, I just wish it was a draft league. Don't we have a couple months left before it happens anyway?

I'm with the merger. The problem I have with the draft, TB brought this up I believe, is that if somebody doesn't rank their draft or they don't get the players they want, it would be easy for them to just quit. Then that team would most likely be sh!tty for a long time because no owner is going to want to pay to take over a bad team. By merging, the owners obviously have a team they're satisfied with and will continue to improve it, minus Worm of course.

I am going to draft for sure. I will also be doing the merger if that is what we all decide to do. I think that the draft would be fine. The draft will just help ensure more even teams than what the league started off with from the start. it will help from teams like my Astros being compared and the Cubs. Sure, some people will draft better, but at least you will have a chance to not have such a sh!tty team as me. the one thing I wonder about the draft is contracts and such.

What is a win or tie owner, the same as a win or tie fan. Any fan(or owner) who cheers for their team if they are winning. They hate the team when they are losing, but as soon as the team is doing good, they are the biggest fans ever. The tie is added in there, because if the team is tied, they will still cheer. they only hate the loser.

I know some one out there has heard of this.

Whatever Wammie. You should be very familar with that phrase Mr. Chicago Bulls. Why do you constantly bring up the fact that you got dealt a bad team from the start? I think you are the only one that uses that as an excuse. I get sick and tired of seeing you write that. Your team was just as good as most of the others. Sure there were a few really good teams at the start(Royals and Cubs) but most of the others were equal. Face it, it took you a while to get the hang of the game. That's it.

OK Brock look at it from that end, there won't be any free top notch teams in the league. if you want to have a top notch team from season 1, you have to do your homework on the draft a hell of a lot more than the other guys. The draft will be a lot more fair than if we all just started in a new league, and had the sim divide up the players as it did when we started p2. That is the point I am trying to make. Hell back then Sanchez won two WS with out even cheating.

I totally agree with you Wammie. What happens if owners quit after a season or 2? A draft league will be much more difficult to attract new owners to after it's started. That's the only bad thing I can see from it.

A draft league would be no more difficult than a league that was just generated to attract new owners. Also, if people buy x number of seasons, they will play for that long.

My problem with a draft is this: I don't necessarilly have the time to do my homework on the draft. Drafting a whole franchise seems like a hell of alot of "homework"!!!

Also, I've put alot of time into this Mets thing and I dont wanna just throw that away.

If P2 stays together, I'll bring my Mets with me, if P2 goes for a draft, I'll just focus all my GSB energy on my V2 squad.

I would hold off before saying I won't draft. No one knows how the commish will set it up. a new league may be the best thing since sliced bread. I am suprised that no one looks forward to starting fresh on a level playing field with everyone and seeing who the real managers are. All of the players in on your team would be players you made moves for. I think it will be a damn good time.

Do any of yall know how major league service time rules work? If a minor leaguer comes up and plays in one game does he get a full season of major league service? Doesn't sound right to me.

I don't know the details, but I know that a guy can be called up during the expanded roster in the fall and it doesn't really count.

I think Timing is referring to the GSB rules for ML service. I believe if a playe plays one game, it's considered a year in GSB.

Wammie - I was comparing a draft league to a merge league you dolt.

one game in GSB counts as a major league season in gsb.

No, I'm talkin about the majors. If a player is called up, plays one game and gets sent back to the minors does he get a full year of major league service? I know the rules of GSB but not sure about MLB. I think it would suck royally to have a player come up for one series in GSB and then get a full season's MLB service for playing one game out of 162.

In MLB, a player is not credited with a year of service for playing only one game. I'm not sure how many games they have to play obtain a year of service but I know it's more than 1.

I don't want to be included on this "Taking advantage of the Dodgers" situation. I accepted a trade offer from him well before he sent out that bogus email saying what he was doing. The real life Yankees go out and buy championships all the time. I won't keep breaking down the trade but two of the players he traded to me for Magee were NL signees. The guy didn't have a whole bunch invested in them.

Whitey,

First off, you are not quitting. We can chat offline but we had this talk a long time ago. If you really consider yourself competitive then prove it. Go rebuild your crusty ass, old team of lifetime overachievers!

;)

Secondly, you are about the hardest headed person when it comes to trades. You look at everything from what value that player would be to your team. You have to look at what the traded players value might be to the losing team. Back in seasons 3-6 I traded a crapload of OF prospects because I had so many. That is what is wonderful about a trade. Your players mean more to my team then they do to yours and mine mean more to your team than they do mine.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, makes trades unless they feel it benefits their team. Like the Padres and Cubs trade. I thought it was very fair. The Padres are obviously done for the year. Step back, reload, and kick butt next year. The Cubs needed a stud pitcher and his stud 1B wouldn't resign with him. He also upgraded at 2B.

Neither of us is judge and jury for other teams trades. Timing said this back in season 5 or 6, "It's like judging women. You might think she is a babe and I think she is a dog"
Well, he said something like that and then went on to say Randy Brown has a nice ass.......lol.

Try not to log onto this thread for a couple days or don't log into team. I know you didn't set your draft card and you sure won't sign on tomorrow to sign them players so they can start improving.

Go get an ice cream cone, or better yet, go get laid. Then get back in here and plan for next year.
