If they do not respond they forfit their spot. We should just have a random order assigned then lets say the yanks have te first pick and the marlins have the 30th pick then it reverses for round 2 so the marlins have the 31st pick and the yanks have the 60th pick then in round 3 the yanks get the 61st pick and so on and so on. And he can take all the players from our teams that we are bringing in and combine them into one big pool so we can see who to draft from. And we should be allwed to rank our players like we do for the draft like a week ahead, then at a set date our team is drafted. Also we shlud be able to default our picks to best avaiable so if anyone doesnt want to spend time ranking all players they dont have to. Ok how does that sound? | |||||

Another thought about my draft idea.... You would have to have set roster spots for each team that you can change ahead of time. For example... On your mlb roster you set how many Of's you wanna draft, c, 1b, 2b,3b,and Sp, and Rp. Kind of like in sandbox when you draft fantasy baseball teams. Lets also say that all Mlb rosters have to be 20 or 24 or some set number. This way you dont get a team with like 5 catchers one 1st baseman and 8 outfielders. You could do the same for AAA, AA, and A, but maby make it so you can only have like 40 total minor leagures, but its up to you if you wnat 40 AAA or wanna divid them up. I hope someone can follow my rambles.... Any thoughts? | |||||

Part bid for players/ part draft players Okay, now can we bid on our starting players only, so that would require: c,1b,2b,3b,ss,cf,lf,rf,SP1,SP2,SP3,SP4,SP5,RP1,RP2,RP3= 16 total bids so that if you bid and get a 1b you can't bid anymore on a 1b and so on. This would guarentee a roster with all positions filled. another thing for the draft maybe you can have it so that a player may only want a short term instead of a long term deal. and random signing. On the pitching Subject ****Note: If we use a 5 man rotation, i think instead of using a long, middle, setup, and closer, use only a long, setup, and closer Then, have a draft for the rest of the MLBers to fill out the rest of the roster. here is an outline. Day 1,2: Bid on starting lineup-16 players day 3: Draft backups for MLB-8 players day 4: Draft 1 for Minors-24 players day 5: draft 2 for minors-24 players day 6: draft 3 for minors-24 players | |||||

I think bidding isn't such a great idea, even though it sounds fun at first. It will take much more effort than a draft, because not only do you have to rate players, you have to decide what you're willing to pay for each one. When you think about how many players you'll have to do this for, it is insane. Think about the current northern league situation. I usually bid on about 15-20 players each year, and it takes me an hour or two to figure out all my bids. Now imagine doing this for 500 players. I just don't have the time for that. Besides that, a bidding process is much more of a crapshoot, and more likely to produce great inequalities between teams starting off. For example, if I underestimate how much people are willing to pay for players, I might end up with no players. It could take a few seasons to recover from that. I like Sanfran's idea. Basically, just like the regular draft, except that you can put limits on how many players you will draft at any one position. | |||||

Hey thats not a bad idea, but who ever had first pick with say catchers, has then the last pick with the next catorigory, then the next one is random and then who ever has that first pick gets the last pick in the next round then the next catorgory is random and so on and so on? so it would be like say we draft Catcher, first baseman, second baseman and then third baseman. Day one team 1 gets first pick for Catcher. Team 30 gets last pick. Day two team 30 gets first pick for 1stbaseman. Team 1 gets last pick. Day three Random again and team 15 gets first pick for Secondbaseman. Team 5 gets 30th pick. Day four Team 5 gets first pick for 3rdbaseman. Team 15 gets last pick. and so on and so on. | |||||

That would take away too much control and strategy. If I think one position is weak I might want to rank players at that position higher. If there's a separate rank for each position, you can't rate a shortstop higher than a 1B, or build a team around pitching. The teams will all be too similar. Everyone will rank the players pretty much the same way within a position. I don't even know why it's so important to make sure everyone gets to draft a player at every position. First of all, you can play guys at their secondary positions. Also, as long as there is a trading period after the draft, you can trade for whatever position you missed out on with someone who needs what you've got a surplus of. Personally I do not want to be forced to draft a 3B if there aren't any quality 3B when I'm picking. | |||||
