I must say I am a little suprised that all the smack talk i have been saying over the seasons is true. i always said that the NL had the top 8 teams. well by RPI, it does look that way. I am not saying RPI is the golden rule of gsb, but it is good data to look at.

in college basketball, only division 1 games count towards RPI, I am starting to think, maybe I should just do an NL RPI, and not include the AL games :)

Oh well, guess I'll remove my little offer. I really hate the fact that some people who aren't sticking around can play by different rules than the rest of us.

If I wasn't keeping my team I'd beat that offer, but its not worth ripping apart my minors for Fielder.

Especially since he may not want to resign next year.

Oh well.

Oh, I'm here. I just can't believe my hitters didn't rip your meatball pitchers. I guess that was the sim screw up that occurs about 3 times a season. You must be proud that you finally won a series from me. I'll get you next time. I'm debating on whether or not to bring up Byrnes and Tinoco. They would solidify my lineup.

I like to think of it as the sim correcting our records so they are closer to what they should be...if you didn't "explode" for 6 runs in the final game, your offensive numbers would have been real ugly.

Good to see the guy I traded for Hayes is in the top 5 in most major categories.

What is everybody's weekly payroll at now??

Mine is 1.74M and I'm making money every week because of it. This is the first time ever that my weekly payroll has been less than 4M...

I recently signed Kelly and Scheff to long term deals around 1M/year. What a bargain...that's the great thing about producing your own MLers instead of signing free agents

That's pretty low also, you must not have many high-priced free agent signings.

I know TB has a very low payroll as well (or at least he used to)

I have a pretty high payroll, 4.5 million a week. i remember when i had a payroll around 1 million a season. back in the days when Larry Barnes was a starter on my team.

then my payroll was well over 6 million a season, closer to 7 million. now i have settled to a decent payroll. if i didn't sign johnson to a large fa deal in the off season, i would have been making a bunch of money this season, but making money doesn't matter to me.

The Redsox and I just made a blockbuster trade in F3, and i want your input on the trade. I think i gave up a lot, maybe to much to get downs, but wanted you guys to see our deal so that if you have any questions you can get them out now, and not when we merge.

SanFRan - I have wondered this about many trades before, but here goes....is Downs that much better than any of the starting pitchers that you gave up to get him. I mean, the 2 starters you gave up seem to have nearly the same quality as Downs by themselves. Is it that important that a pitcher has all 4 categories above 400, because that is the only real difference.

PP - You got a 494 AVG first baseman to replace Fielder plus you got some other guys who will play for your ML team plus 25M in cash. You gave some HR and GAP power but overall I think you got a ridiculously good deal...I can only imagine what Brock was going to give up. The Dodgers didn't get much better (if at all) by this deal..I can't figure these trades out sometimes

Whitey - thats what it comes down to. Pumphry i got for 7 mil, and I didnt want to sign Wolff to a big contract, also i dont like darryl scott because he is my worst pitcher, but downs does seem to be the best overall pitcher in the league, and having him a carmody gives me a great 1-2 punch.

Thanks guys

Man....Carmody and Downs on the same team?!?!? I think that's more than a one-two punch, more like a one-two knockout!!!!

I just thought of something, depending on how many leagues we have entering the merger league, there could be 3, 4, or more Carmody's in the league. That's a little scary...or is my assumption wrong?

Sachin and SanFran shoring up each other's teams. Really nice move there.

As I look around P2 it really strikes me how little talent is in our league. A couple of leagues I'm are full of superstar teams and even the bad teams are heck of a lot better than the Mariners. Just on my one N2 Yanks alone I have 5 hitters in my lineup 470+ average, 400+ hr, and 400+ speed. In P2 you can't even find 5 hitters that good. In fact in all of P2 there are exactly 2 hitters who fit that category. Nick Johnson and Mark DeRosa. This league has seriously weak talent to deal with.

Whats even scarier is that when we start trading some one could have a rotation of 2 carmodys and 2 downs, perish the thought......

That Pumphrey pick up shows how weak F3 management is. In N2 Pumphrey was bought in minor league fa for $47 million. Another prospect went for $35 million. Unfortunately I couldn't get either of them because that damn Saturday sim a few weeks ago caused me to lose out. Just to show you the difference between cut throat leagues and what F3 has going on.

Not necessarily. San Fran just picked up a northen leaguer for $55 million. I would have been in the bidding for Pumphrey in F3, except I was away that weekend and didin't have access to a computer, so I missed out. I agree our league is weaker than P2, but it's not a complete waste. All of our teams currently have owners, and this year, the free agent bidding was more competitive than before.

Ya what do you guys think about my $55 million northern leaguer.

Esteban Maldonado 23 SP: 484 194 46 83

with 12 stars and 372 stamina. I hope it pays off because 55 is a lot to waste on a bum.

if he ends up good enough to play in the majors, he is already at 11 mil a year for the first five years, those five years where he is cheap. probably cost you around 12 mil a year. so it depends on what 12 mil a season is worth to you.

if he becomes a bohanon or something, it was well worth it, but if he just becomes a #3 or 4 starter, it was a waste. so time will tell.

Pimpster, the Dodgers offered me almost the same deal for Brown. Billy Munoz, Willie Greene, Dave Hollins, Kelly Stinnett, Sean Spencer, and 25 million.

I was mulling it over and hadn't decided yet. I have to say I was leaning against it.

I don't have much time to go online during the day now that I am back to work. I did just go online and didn't see an email from you offering Fielder. I suppose Sanchez still reads these boards....lol.

I don't quite understand the ranking you guys have put up, but I know I have played the Rangers, Yankees, Mets and Red Sox. None have a losing record. I have also played the 11-13 White Sox and the 8-16 Royals. I do have my bye week this week against the Mariners. If I don't sweep it will be a disappointment.

TB,

You opponents winning percentage is .500
you opponents opponents winning % is .465, which is less than any one in the NL.

you winning percentage is .583. this gives you an rpi rating of .5119

as you can see, this ranks you as the top team in the AL. 7th team overall.

Does my opponents opponents winning % get updated each week as past opponents play other teams and win more games?

Also, won't it suck when the NL has all these "great" teams and yet still gets their ass handed to them by me in the WS this year?

big series with tomorrow, two top teams in p2, astros and padres. too bad only one of us can go to the ws.

some things I noticed from the Demo:

No MLB or minor league or NL logos anymore. I don't think I saw any real team names (Mets, Cards, Yanks, any) Everything goes by City names. No familiar player names. A couple of neat looking toys.

If you look under the coach section in the Demo you see where you can put the same starter in multiple slots for multiple series. I know the Commish said he increased the injury factor but I hope he increased it enough to where it will actually do something. Or else what's to stop a team going into the last week of the season from putting his best 3 starters in every slot for that final week. If you have high health quality starters that could be a serious weapon.

I noticed several new cool features. The only change I don't like is on depth charts, each position is at the top, but that's only because I have to scroll back up instead of just using frames.

When I went to check line-ups I didn't see the game 5 starters. Also, If we are going to be playing 10 games a week, I would rather set my line-ups for all ten games rather then for just 5 and have them doubled.
