0 Subject: Merger League Website

Posted by: Timing
- [590262414] Tue, Mar 20, 21:22

We have tried setting up a Merger League Website in P2 but the person doing it may not have the time to keep it up to date or just doesn't feel like workin on it. So anyway, if any of the merger members has the time, I repeat has sufficient time, to create a cool website for our new merger league that would be great. We have some people in P2 that want to create their own team sites to link to the Merger League page also so that's something to keep in mind too. If someone wants to share the duties to keep up the site that's fine too. I guess we can all share ideas in here until next week.

I emailed Joe, instead of posting, and told him what I could help with.

Wammie, go pay for your team already.

That was a funny line about the mind reading helmet.

Oh yeah on HOF, there probably needs to be a 5 year playing requirement or something. Players who hit .350 for 2/3 years shouldn't be getting into the HOF.

it seems pointless now but i went through the posts and found the ones where we all made comments and gave advice on the web site. here we go-
post#
121-PP asked if anyone was good at graphic design
128-PP gave us the web address
131-timing gave some advice on the page
169-Brock said he would contribute to the page
171-J gave some advice on the page
234-PP brings up HOF votes
235-Brock made a comment on PP's advice
237-Wammie comments on the HOF
238-Worm comments on the HOF
253-J comments on the page as well and gives a link.
so it doesnt look like to many people gave advice to PP who was more than willing to listen and take anything given or thrown his way.

am i the only one who thinks we should look at immediate eligability for the Hall?

Those are some nice looking pages. If it's needed, I'd be happy to do something like maintaining a records page (all-time hits leaders, etc.)

For the HOF, why not do it like MLB: each person can vote for up to 10 players, and players must be on 75% of ballots to get elected.

I agree that players who only play a few seasons shouldn't get elected, but would any player like that ever get 75% of the vote?

I agree that stats should be reset, and we should vote on what rules if any we wanna follow in the merger league. Ex.. Bomerang trades, how to do HOF, KRP (althought i guess injurys are taking care of this) etc....

BPG that would be a great help if you could keep the stats.

Is any player gonna retire without playing at least 4 years? Ya gotta figure, people can begin their career's in GSB, no later than age 30, and retire no sooner than 34. I dont think we need to worry about minimum requirements.

If you're voting and you feel a player didn't play for long enough, just don't vote for him!

worm - I think we all think immediate eligibility is the way to go here.

worm - by immediate do you mean immediately after they retire? I agree that a player shouldn't have to wait a certain amount of years to get inducted. The first HOF vote after the player retires should include that player..

I also think a HOF-eligible player should have played at least 5 full seasons. I would say 10, but a lot of excellent players don't play their first game until age 26 and then they retire at 34 so there is no way they could have played 10 full seasons..

I agree that players should be eligible for the HOF immediately upon retirement.

We should encourage all owners to keep records of their own players' career stats, or at least any ones that they think might be HOF candidates.

I finally got my Front Page 2000 to work with Geocities so I drew up a quick merger league page. I think mine's already better than PP's but I guess that's up to the league to decide. If anyone wants to add stuff to it, post your email and I'll email ya the password. I still can't get that darn TB's Take gif to show up for some reason. Oh well...

Timing, your page looks cool. I liked PP's too. The most important thing is going to be to have someone do it who is willing to keep it up diligently.

Timing, your webpage looks excellent, as does PP's. If you guys need any help, I'll be willing to assist Just don't have the time to play a huge part in the site. I'll probably make a team site or something. I think my old H2 League site is up somewhere at http://www.grandslambaseballh2.50megs.com if you want to see something concrete. However, you guys decide to split up the duties, is fine with me. The main priority is having someone who has the time and will put in the effort to maintain the site.

Timing, good job on the site its looking good. Now ok I say we put all the sh*t aside and work together on this webpage so we can make it the best damn web page ever. I liked your site alot just some things though. How would we vote for awards on your site?

Cool... do you have Front Page 2000? What kind of things can you do with your programs? Can you like write over jpegs and stuff like you did with that TB's Take gif? In other words take a pic and put writing on top of it. Or can you alter pics or crop them to make backgrounds? I've been looking around to try to make a MLB logo background but can't find a logo light enough that wouldn't distract from the page.

About the awards voting, I think it would be best do to that in our threads and I'll tell ya why. A few seasons ago when someone gave me the V2 page address, I was able to go there and vote about 5 times for Bugs Bunny, Roger Rabbit, etc. LOL When the playoffs start we can send a league wide email and also place a link on the merger page for people to come here to vote. I think that would be more reliable and people wouldn't be able to screw with the voting.

Timing, yes I have Frontpage 2000. Yes I can also put words ontop of text I have Adobe Photoshop 6. The awards thing will work on the page though because you have to put your name and email address and I will only count the votes where these fields are filled. Email me so we can get some ideas going

The problem is Netscape. It sucks big time and I can't believe that people still use it. I would advise you to download IE 5.5 on any machine that you use that doesn't have it.

I was thinking that it's a pain to go through all these team sites to see who's updated it recently. So to those of you who have team sites, if yall want to email Purple Pimp or myself whenever you update your pages we'll place a note on the team site page so that people who are interested will go check it out.
