I'm looking around the league for awards and stuff so maybe I'll post some of that today. I guess whoever can do it if they get a chance. AL Cy Young is going to be a mess.
Ahhhhhh... it feels good to have the World Series trophy in the AL where it belongs.

Looks like there will be a lot of stacked teams going into the merger. the Red Sox email says what we were talking about as soon as we found out about the pay site. i am sure many teams are going to be doing this. there isn't a lot that can be done about neither i suppose.

I think a record may have just been set. I emailed the commish asking him if we were going to play another full season and a couple of minutes later I had this as his response:
I don't think you will get a full season in, but you will start one. We are still at least a week from the switch.

You know what. I wasn't lying about the trade and I wasn't going to ask for the prospect back either. But if it is a big F(*Ying deal then forget it. It was just an idea if somebody wanted Alvarez, since some of you have been submitting trades for him for a couple of seasons. I wasn't trying to rip anybody off.

I'm beginning to think so. If all these teams from other leagues are bringing in stacked teams, why should we be at a dissadvantage?
I think maybe we should draft minor leaguers from teams not staying - worm, wammie, TB, Timing...

I've heard that we're about a week away from the merger.
We're about to start a new season in P2, so I've got a few questions:
1) Since we're not gonna finish this season, will this season have any affect on a players' a)contract, b)MLB Years c)Years Pro, d)Age?
2) Are we gonna get an exact date so we'll know not to waste our time on the draft?

Actually SLP, what you said is that you would trade your prospects for next to nothing and then after the merger you would expect talent in return for next to nothing. You were trying to get something for nothing.
My idea was a hell of a lot better than yours anyway. The team I traded with wouldn't have to give up a thing. They would just be sending me back players that weren't theirs to begin with.

I know I don't have a very good minor league, that is why I am not taking my p2 team into the merger. i have a stacked minor league system in my other other league.
I don't think I could in good conscience give brock any players though. be it minor leaguers or major leaguers!

We don't really need to rehash this, since we beat it to death a month back or so. I think that we all decided not to do this. Is there where people still stand even if other teams in the merger league are doing it?
Also was I wrong, or did most of the people in the merger league agree to not do this kind of stuff? I guess when we first start, we should all watch the transactions and look for fishy trades.

Wammie you have nothing on you major or minor league teams to offer me. I checked them out and I see no potential starters other than Bluma and I don't want that old bastard anyway.
Timing - how about we draft from your minors and anybody else's minor if they are interested? You could pick a couple of guys that you wanted us to take and hold for you and then we could draft from the rest. All teams interested could participate. I'm sure this will get a negative response from other outside this league.

Henry Rodriguez and Brett Casper are great young hitters that could play on most any team.
Mark Gardner is a solid young ace, and Randy Niles is a solid but not stellar starting pitcher. but from a team that is going to get their sh!t rocked in the merger because you have no starting pitching, I am suprised to see you not wanting to get some ML'ers.
I think the whole thing about trading players from p2, and then getting something back in a merger league is pretty low.

Gardner is a solid young starting pitcher. Don't ever use 'ace' and 'Gardner' in the same sentence unless you're talking about cards or there's a not.

Timing - I'm just curious which R2 trades you mean? I know there was one that was obviously fishy looking, where the O's essentially gave the Red Sox 10 mil. In that case, the O's owner sent an email explaining that it was a completion of a past deal. I'm trying to keep tabs on these trades as much as I can.

BPG- If I recall correctly, the Orioles (non-merger team) made 4 trades on the same day, 3 of those trades were with merger teams. Now I don't know about you, but I've rarely seen a team make 4 trades in a season much less in ONE day. In addition, you picked up a guy Mckinley I think for 3 dried up prospects. They are no longer growing and though they're serviceable players I think, not exactly the kind of players you see traded for someone like Mckinley.
There were a few other trades in there that were kind of bogus but I can't remember the details. Some money changing hands like you mentioned and some other players switching teams more than once. I'll check it out again later tonight and post then.

Timing - I freaked out a little bit when I saw what the O's were doing too, but on closer inspection I didn't think any of the trades were really outrageous. They didn't have any superstars or great prospects to begin with, and they got some value in return for what they traded away.
The McKinley trade happened because he wouldn't re-sign with the Yanks. They approached me about the deal. They are a merger team anyway, so I didn't see a problem with it. If anyone is curious, the trade was as follows (numbers are approximate, I didn't look them up):
To Padres: Dan Mckinley, OF, age 26, 486/490/250/460
To Yankees:
Noah Hall, OF, age 29, 461/447/350/350

Yes Timing, I knew he was using GRT. The very first season I was there he was selling prospects to the league. All turned out to be crap. I always email him first and ask if he wants to buy any of my prospects. Whoever he wants I sell to other teams.
