Timing - Don't forget that we are playing 10 games a night, so even if we make week 6 the cutoff, that's still 60 games. I think we will know the good, the bad and the ugly after 60 games...

Well we have a 30 team league with 162 game schedule. In the past teams will sometimes slump for 6/7 weeks and even though that has only been 24-28 games, who's to say those type of 6 week slumps won't continue? We don't really know how this will go down.

Prior to post #120 I had the Angels winning the AL West and the A's coming in second and the wild card. Looks like the A's might be coming in 4th....lol.
On a serious note, I would rather we didn't do the draft this year or just leave it the way it is. If we had made a firm decision prior to the merge then it would be cool to switch it, but we didn't. This is like a new sport(XFL, USFL, etc.) and we drew numbers for the draft. Some teams will get over and some will be screwed. So what?
It will work itself out for next year. There is enough talent league wide that trades can be made and each team can compete at an almost equal level.

I look at it kind of like I won the GSB draft lottery. any team could have ended up number 1, i just was the lucky one.

I don't agree at all. There are some teams in here that are not very good at all and they need as much help as they can get. SanFran picking up that high is ridiculous, same thing with Wammie having the 1st pick. His team is nowhere near the worst in the league.

I completley understand what your saying Timing. But when we started a new league with only groupies a while back, we all decided to join a new league and we all pick teams and the commish "randomanly gave us all players". Now I got stuck with a team that was completly retarded and wouldnt even make anyones AAA team regardless someones MLB team. The Mets got an absoulty jacked team and it was so unfair for them to get the second draft pick also. Everyone kept it and told me to stop complaining and just be a rebuilding team. I went with it but now am on the other end of the spectrum. So i want to leave it like it is. However we should vote as a majority, and then decide whatever the majority decides.

I know what you're saying about being given bad teams but this is a little different. We're all bringing teams not being given bad teams.

Hey guys sorry I havent been around, it is greek week here and we were in a dead heat for first.
Regarding my team: TB So far the avg stuff has worked, Lots of singles, I believe in my 4 years with the Cards I avg'd between 8 - 9 runs a game. My pitching is what helps, I have a very strong staff that has been very decent as of later, usually has an ERA in the low 3's plus my relievers were key. Burnham is my only power hitter I got 13 - 20 HR's out of him each year while I have between 3 - 4 guys with 7 -8 hrs. Small Ball is my game, and I've been pretty successful with it so far.
As for timing, just you wait until we meet, I will make short work of your team.

I hope you have another team waiting in secresy cause that team you have now is just waiting to get whacked by my Dodgers errr... Angels.
Anyway, you could not have possibly averaged 8 runs a game for 4 years. Over a 64 game season that is 512 runs. I don't think so dude.

I scored a lot of runs, most series that I played were like:
8 - 1 7 - 4 9 - 7 7 - 5
Ok 6 - 7 runs sounds more realistic, all i have to say is for some reason this team works, I can only hope it wasn't a fluke. I got some prospects all ready to play.
As for your dodgers, they are a good team, beat up my royals plenty of times in B3. This team is nothing like my B3 team, I spent so much $$ on them and they didnt play like it, this team costs next to nothing and it wins, well i hope it does.
Good luck.

I go from 1st to 21, and San Fran stays near the top at number 4? I just wonder why the commish decided to make the change, and how he decided what order people would be in.

I'm guessing the commish never set the draft up. It was probably the default or something. Didn't you notice how all the NL teams drafted first, followed by the AL. He probably now just ran the random generator. I still think we should base it on records after week 6 or 7. That is the most logical and fair way to do it. I can't believe that any of you think we should keep it the way it is. Well, I'm off to St. Louis to watch the Cards smoke the Stros again.

I couldn't reply but could make a new one.
The draft order doesn't mean squat. Timing, your team should be one of the bottom three teams in the draft. Big deal. If your team plays to it's potential you will be drafting near the bottom for many seasons. Same goes with San Fran.
If your team sucks and you have a pissy draft position, just think, it will be better next year.
I will have to go back and look at prospects again. The commish fixed the draft and we can now rate the prospects. That's probably when the draft order got changed as well.
Everyone should get a couple decent prospects if the players are the same. Heck, there are twice as many studs in there then I have ever seen in a P2 draft.
BTW, I still dont care where my draft position is or if we decide to not have a draft this year.
I got some players available for trade and think I will go home for lunch and put together a list and send out.

if this is the way the draft works, random numbers, then so be it. If we want to use the record, what ever. majority rules i suppose.
No matter how much Brock whines, I will not be cheering for the Cardinals. I hate the Cardinals.

I did. I finished my AL review but wanted to complete the NL review before posting much. You have to judge talent based on a curve. At first I was looking mainly at 480+ hitters but surprisingly many teams have a lot of 460-470 guys.
At a general glance, the NL looked stronger, but I will have a better idea when I finish.
Whitey, so far I would agree with your assessment of your team....lol.

I just fined tuned my line-ups. Everybody gets at least one day off each sim except for my SS. I think I will use him as my test to see if injuries are really going to occur if you don't rest someone.

I sure wish we could get some solid feed back from the commish or the test league on how much injuries are really happening, and if it depends on their health status.

Well it looks like we finally have a guy to throw out the first pitch!
You can stuff the ballots now. If it becomes too much of a problem we can set it so that everyone can only vote once. I think eventually people will start voting objectively instead of for themselves.

Lol, I figured it would only let you vote once and it didn't take the first vote. If I was really stuffing that puppy I don't think I would have came in and admitted it. Take a look at the NL results, though. I voted for San Fran but someone else had a lot of votes.
The page looks good. Can you put a larger gap at the top between League and Elite? It doesn't have to be any larger then the one between Brock's two front teeth....so my d*cks gots to fit.....
Ahhh, slow day and I got to dis on "Cornbread"
It shouldn't take much longer to finish San Fran. I will have to go back and relook at some of the trades and impact it will make but for the most part good teams have stayed good.
Staring at the numbers and looking at Minor and Major league teams is what takes the longest. I don't rate my team so high but I know what depth I have that can be called up. I have to take that into account when I rate other teams. (Not knowing what players are still developing reduces that accuracy some too)
Yep, it's a crapshoot because players can under/overachieve, trades can be made, and the injury bug can strike anyone.

Yeah, the League Elite thing is a little close. I'll have to get with PP on that, he's the graphics wiz. When you vote it should take you to the results but yeah you can vote as many times as you want right now. I'm more concerned with some of the people in this league being ghosts instead of participating. I know we haven't started yet but you know what I'm sayin!
