Worm, only you would know where the gay forum is. I bet you could draw Brock a strip map from memory.

Brock, you must have been having dreams about men or something. That is the only time I have seen that subject.

Anyone else thinking that Whitey was on dope if he thought his current team could compete? Decent? If I wear a pair of socks all day they smell decent.

Players available: SS Mappes and 1B Stanley. If I had known I was going to get Nieves I probably wouldn't have picked up Mappes and his salary. I have a catcher in AAA, Beran who is at 494 and was still improving as of last night. He is available. He has gotta stop soon. Probably hexed him for tonight and 494 will be it. RP's Ramirez and Radlosky are trade bait.

I was trying to trade Krapp but ever since Whitey talked crap about Krapp he has been pitching great. What I really would like to do is package some good MLB players and great prospects for a solid high average/high homer run MLB player.

Hmm, gotta pick on the rest of the P2 guys.

Chiz, what happened to your team? They got old really quick. I thought your P2 team was a better team then the one you brought. It was probably broke from trying to keep up with the Mighty O's.

Timing, come on back to the forum and let's bash on Brock and George Michael, I mean Wammie.

Pimpster and me were bsing last night and I got to looking at his team. Flaherty, Nunez, Mercedes, Fogg, Guerrero, and Andra all turned out to be damn good prospects that I traded him. He traded Fogg to SF in the Downs trade and he traded me Guerrero for Danning. I am sure there are some guys I am missing. Oh yeah, Glaus was a good player back in the old days and I will be damned if 36 year old Austin, and his diminishing ratings, isn't sporting one of the better ERA's in the AL.

Can't really think of anything new to tell J. I did send him a reply to the last email offer he sent out trying to trade some scrub for cash. Told him he should offer half a million to whoever would take him. Mets are playing some good ball, though, and should be play-off bound. Unlike the one year wonder Red Sox.....

Had to end this post with a dig at Brock. =)

Brock, I think you are right about Tucker getting mvp. he may have taken note from the 1918 Black Sox and taken some money. I guess 10 mil a year for him isn't enough.

J - maybe it has to do with poor management skills. Then again, it could be the sim.

If i have poor management skills, then whats your excuse? You had the best power team this year and where did that get you?, um no where, so shut up.

Piss off sissy boy. My skills speak for themselves. I brought my P2 team in here and turned them into one of the best teams. That's more than most can say. I didn't have a stacked team that I could use to wheel and deal for the best players. Hell I wasn't even saying you were a poor manager. I said it could be the sim. But then you have to act like a little bitch. I sure hope KC puts a thumping on you tonight. I don't want any girls winning a title in this league.

All this just proves that you aren't management material. Even with all the top pitching and all the top hitting, you still can't win. There is a pattern developing here. If I recall, before this league started you said you didn't win a world series in F2 or whatever league you were from. Have you ever thought about retirement?

It's funny that you mention God and me in the same sentence. I get that a lot.

I'm going to tell you a little story. Once there were 2 managers in a GSB merger league. One came from a top league, where 85% of the owners were active and competent. Lets call him P2. The other came from a lesser league where maybe 50% of the owners were active. Lets call him F2. Now P2's league didn't have the best talent in the world and there was much parity throughout the league. Owners were very active and no one team could dominate the FA market or the draft. Then there was F2. Not as much is known about the early years of F2 but throughout the last 3 or 4 years, a few teams ruled supreme and were able to get the best FA and the cream of the crop when drafting took place. Certain owners were able to build all-star teams. Then one day, a merger league was formed. Teams from various leagues united to form a super league. P2 and F2 were among these teams. Now P2 had an average team at best when compared to F2 and a lot of others. Throughout the first 3 years of the new league, P2 was able to make trades, sign a couple of FA, and develop his prospects all while building his team into one of the top teams in the league. He barely missed the playoffs in his first season, made it to the league championship his second season, and lost in a one game playoff in his third season. These were great accomplishments considering how P2’s team started out. Then there was F2. He made many trades to acquire the very best players throughout the league. He was able to do this by trading prospects from his overly talented farm system and his all-star caliber players from his transitioned team. With a team comparable to the 2001 St. Louis Cardinals, he was able to role over anyone in his path the first 3 seasons. He had the best record each year. But when the playoffs rolled around, his team acted like the Chicago Cubs of every year. They folded. Only one person was to blame. Guess who that was? You got it, the manager.

When you try to compare these two managers, what they accomplished is not as important as how they accomplished what they did. P2 made his way toward the top by making smart moves and developing his young talent. F2 has always been at the top with the top talent but just can't seem to win the big game. Maybe not having to fight to make your team into a winner finally took its tolls on you.

sorry guys, go ahead and take 3 of those off San Fran's list.

I just realized how lucky I've gotten with SPs from my minors -
#4 starter is Red Stenhouse 485 345 411 437 (stars:1-3-3);
#5 starter is Les McCluskey 477 386 421 414 (3-3-2)

Both guys have career ERA's 4.13 and 3.97 (respectively)

Timing, I felt lucky to get by your team and then was just happy to be in the series. Who would have thunk that I'd beat the most powerful team in League E. I've had the same starting rotation since the merger, so I couldn't figure out why after winning 114 games in season 1 that I barely managed to hang on and win the division the last two years with only 91 and 93 wins, respectively. My lineup has been pretty much the same as well with only a few changes since season 1, so why the difference in this postseason I don't know. Maybe it was the "win one for the gipper" speech that I gave the guys before the series.

It was fitting that Jeff Sparks, who probably had the most unlucky season possible going 13-12 with an ERA of 3.52, tossed a complete game 1 hitter to open the series and then closed the book in winning game 5. He graciously accepted the series MVP trophy, yet praised his team and GM for making it possible. "These guys are a great bunch to be around and the clubhouse is very professional yet laid back. Mr. Skin E. Jay has put together a great team, and we hope to be back next year to defend the title."

I just looked at minor league free agents a little while ago and was shocked to see a 20+ million bid on a 28, soon to be 29, year old catcher who has a decent average and good home run rating but zilch for gap or speed. The more I thought about it, I guess you would never have to sign him to a long term deal so you would basically be paying about 5 million a season for him(including signing bonus, original 20 million and salary).

I have a 29 year old outfielder name Stemmeyer. Instead of 474-468 he is 465-474. He has much better speed and gap but is a year older. I guess his asking price would be 15 million? Anyone want him? I could only get one team to offer me 20 million for Morgan (aka Downs) two seasons ago, when he was 29.

29 year old SS Mappes is for sale too. 463-469-345-453. That sounds like 10 million to me at least. Maybe only 9 million if I take a million off for each point he is less in his average rating. But I get to add a million back for that homer rating. I like speed and think an extra couple million to go from a 200ish to 400ish speed isn't out of line. Okay, so I am just being silly.

I see that Timing just signed him. Congrats on your newest signee. May he bat under .300, only have 10 homers for the season, or break a leg after week two. ;)

Well I doubt he'll hit .300 but I'm hoping he'll get 30-35 homers. My reasoning for signing him is pretty much what you mentioned. He'll play cheap and no need to sign him long tern. I'm surprised some of the cash rich bottom dwellers didn't jump all over him.
