Below is a list of all the horses bred by Gurupies, that i could find...Some may have been lost in claimers or sold at auction...If so, post the details if you want a reminder of what you bred...Also, i am not entirely sure i got them all...
Some of the breeding costs are missing...I found what i could from other threads so post these also if you feel inclined(and have them recorded somewhere!)

In 3,6,9 or 12 months time, it will be interesting to see what progress has been made by these ponies...

The speed figure is the best overall run so far..If there is no speed figure in brackets it was achieved as a 2yo...The figure in brackets()* was the best achieved as a 2yo and the other speed figure is as a 3yo..If that makes sense...

Wow. Good work.

Secret Society was also 28 points. I think you have all the others correct. I'm not totally sure on the "royal" breeds, but they look in the ballpark. Sutter's Creek was a waste of 49, Snow Storm was a nice bargain at 28 points.

MADMAN BREEDING FILES, 2002

Let the Breeding Begin!

I just did two homebreds!

Ballroom Blitz 55135, 3yo, Rotciv Stables. Bred from Scratch. Previous 55135, Amad's Spades, came up Injured, so he was going to be out for 8-10 weeks, anyway.

Breeding: Blitzz U S A x Society Max x Key to the Mint. Total Cost: 40.

Name history: Thinking high society or even pop culture (DS). I started looking at music groups and such. Then thought of the infamous "Ballroom Blitz" song, and it really seemed to fit. Ballroom/high society, "blitz" in the sire's name, decent tune, and now part of sim history!

Blitzz USA was 11 points, and only 3 yo eligible. He's a son of STORM CAT. Society Max (15 points) you may recognize as the bargain DS I used in Secret Society. :) Key to the Mint is a very quality moderate distance dirt influence that I've had luck with in the sim. He cost 108, but that's cut in half because of DDS. Overall, I have reasonably high hopes from this mix. Should have good speed from Blitzz USA, moderate distance and good mix from Society Max, and then some endurance from KTM. But, of course, a lot of luck is involved. This brings Rotciv down to 532 breed points, and I have a lot of breeding to do this year in that stable. Oh well. I've earned 90 in there this year, so I'm way up on the year. And maybe Snow Storm and Royal With Silver will last the year for me in there. . .
----------------------------------
Enigmatic, 36272, 2 yo, Madman999, Polish Numbers x Forty Niner x Sword Dance (ire). Used the breeding of Chocolate Dump for this one. Total Cost: 225 BPs (125 for CD's heritage, and 100 for PN). I really wanted Giant's Causeway as the sire, but he got snatched up early this week. The only good bargain left that I liked was Quiet American, and I decided Polish Numbers was higher quality, although I'm worried about the overall endurance ability of this mix. But Sword Dance has some, and Polish Numbers isn't too bad. Plus, Polish Numbers x Forty Niner has been used by two horses in the sim (as of last fall), to good/great success.

Name evolution: Was going to go with Rejewski's Enigma, in honor of Marian Rejewski, the polish mathematician who solved Enigma. (Polish Numbers, get it?) couldn't come up with a female name to match, but then morphed it into Enigmatic. Hopefully he/she won't run that way :)

Wow -- less than a 24 hour turn-around! Very cool.

Ballroom Blitz is a 3 yo filly, worth $73,426.

Enigmatic is a 2yo filly, worth a cool $5,000,000.

I bred a scratch bargain 2yo filly this week myself.

Anabaa x Salt Marsh x Tell
2yo filly: Tellana Salt (I'm not as clever as Madman) $70K CPU and somewhere around 39BP's IIRC.

I'm hoping Anabaa has been upped this year in the sire stat files used for breeding. Anabaa is by Danzig. Salt Marsh is for endurance (out of Tom Rolfe) and Tell because he's a good horse and was cheap and seemed to fit with the others. Decent numbers as a DDS.

Congrats to all on the new breeds. Haven't had time to check them out yet.

But posted, re StlCards5, to *warn* against the idea of breeding in the belief that sires have been upgraded based on their 2001 performance. According to Mike, this old-sire upgrading will be done gradually between now and mid-March...and AFAIK there is no indication when a sire has been up/dpwn-graded...except, I surmise, maybe a difference in his price????Which might destroy the purpose of the exercise, in the case of "secret" sires with good 2001 campaigns.

In theory, I think you could examine price changes over time for sires, and figure out which ones are better than others. However, this would take a lot of work. Quite frankly, given the difficulty of finding a particular sire to breed with at the moment, I'm not sure you'd get a lot of return on your time investment.

In other words, I think the variable component due to luck vastly outweighs any small variation that you may be able to pick up on between sires.

One possible exception would be "bargain" breeds. I've got a hunch that a few of these bargain sires are really quite good. Maybe not a Storm Cat, but at least second tier. Finding those would indeed be worth your time.

Some new 2yo babies have arrived today for the StLCards stables.

StLCards2
Friendly One, 2yo, female,Doubting Tom x Groshawk x Hospitatlity

Frontier Hawk(IRE), 2yo, male, Seurat (IRE), x Fronatal x Hospitality (oops! that was supposed to be Groshawk as the DDS, thus the name). Also this Frontal is not the one I thought it was. I thought this was the Frontal (1972 out of Vaguely Noble) How the heck are you supposed to know when the sim doesn't tell you?

StLCards3
Dance List(IRE), 2yo, male, Tamure (IRE) x Danzig Dancer x List

StLCards1
Ancient King, 2yo, male, Wavering Monarch x Medieval Man x L'Enjoleur

Rotciv stables:

Perfect Storm -- 38944 -- 2 yo -- Ride the Storm x Society Max x Touching Wood. 18 points.

Ride the Storm brings Storm Cat, Society Max brings Mr. P, and Touching Wood brings some much needed endurance via Roberto.

Mr. Secretive or Ms. Secretive -- 55929 -- 3 yo -- Stark Secret x Mr. Howard x Touching Wood. Stark Secret brings GraustarkxSecretariat. Mr Howard brings Mr. P. Touching Wood, just mentioned. This horse should make the distance with no problem, just not sure about how fast. 19 points, this is almost a no-lose proposition. I bred over a $6 auction acquisition.

Didn't have time to get too creative with sires, obviously, as I recycled a bunch of bargain sires I was already familiar with. We'll see how that works.

This will give Rotciv 4 3yo horses at the moment (still got Snow Storm, American Mint and Ballroom Blitz), and 1 2yo. Obviously, that stable will be counting on some of these young'uns to come through, or else they will be quick glue going to claimers for BPs. Not sure I can have 5 young horses all at the same time . . .

Both came up Little Groggy, so I won't be racing them this week. Double Drat! Or is that Drat Too?

Oh yeah -- Perfect Storm Too is worth $16,495, while Ms. Secretive is worth $18,250. I don't plan on wasting a lot of time developing these guys. Ms. Secretive will get one MSW race each on turf and dirt, and then will hit the claimers if she doesn't perform. These are 18 and 19 point horses. Mainly I'm getting them because I was tired of getting garbage in claimers.

Week 1320 coming up! New Homebreds on the way!

Ms. Secretive Jumped from Being "Little Groggy" to "Sharp!" Cool.

The big breeds:

Madman4's second homebred -- Agrippina -- 3 year old filly -- Summer Squall x Woodman x Nijinsky II. Should be a solid turf horse from 8-11f. Maybe some dirt ability, too. SS brings high quality distance, Woodman brings some great speed, and Nijinsky II brings that awesome turf distance ability. 411 breed points makes this filly my most expensive homebred yet! Unfortunately my #2 most expensive is from the same barn and has been hurt forever (Key West). The name comes from one my supposed great-grandmothers -- Agrippina the Younger was the mother of Nero and the daughter of Agrippina the Elder. They were cut-throat, intelligent, devious women involved in various power plays in the ancient Roman Empire. Hopefully this filly will inherent some of their competitiveness :). No relation to any of the breeding -- wasn't feeling too creative. She comes in with a $5 million CPU tag.

Madman3 did a lot of breeding. Say good-bye to Rakida's Plug and welcome In Quest of Gold, 49807, a 2yo Colt -- Rainbow Quest x 49er x Plugged Nickle. This is an obvious play off the Quest and gold-digging aspects of the Sire/Dam-Sire. But it's also a purposeful duplication of the title of the biography of one of my hero's growing up -- Jim Ryun. 237 BPs started with a CPU value of $3,844,459, but he's coming in "SHARP!". Hopefully this isn't Fool's Gold!

This same barn bred a cheapie 3yo that will target MC races immediately -- Meteor Shower -- 65442 -- 3yo filly -- Christmas Storm x Beaudelaire x Touching Wood. The name is a take off on the horse I eliminated for breeding -- Space Boulder CB -- and the sire. I was thinking "Space Storm" but Meteor Shower had a better ring, I think. We're looking at $30,489 for this 25 point filly. She actually would have only cost 23, but there's that new minimum.

Lastly, Madman999 was feeling left out of the action, and had to get a Summer Squall progeny of his own! Thus 48669 was created -- Red Summer 2 year old Male -- Summer Squall x Red Ransom x Woodman. 348 BP's makies this horse my #3 most expensive Homebred, I believe. This horse has speed from the dam-side and some endurance in Summer Squall. Worried about making the distance . . . but there's some good quality here, so he should be useful at 9f or under, at least.

36916 Miswaki Music is going to Maiden Claimers this week. Sad to see another homebred bite the dust. That one definitely didn't work.

River of Gold Again Atticus x Forty Niner x Riverman. 2yo filly.

(this was pasted from other thread so I can keep track of it)
I did a bit of research on this and hopefully it works out. Went ahead and bred over nine rally to get the Forty Niner x Riverman lineage. Looking through the Super Sim Searcher it seemed that inbreeding with Mr. Prospector worked particularly well with Raise A Native as a DDS. I originally thought of going with Gone West, Woodman, or Miesque's Son.

I then noticed Green Dancer worked well also but without using Raise A Native. Two excellent horses by him, one using The Minstrel and another using Iron Ruler as DDS. I also noticed that Iron Ruler had the same sire as Riverman (Never Bend). Looking in to this further it seemed that Northern Dancer blood worked well. Green Dancer has Northern blood through Nijinsky II. The Minsrel also has Northern blood.

Looking in to ND lines it appeared that Nureyev lines worked very well. This is true of Miesques Son too as he has Nureyev through his mother. I found a sire Robin des pins by Nureyev that sired a couple of wonderful horses with Forty Niner. The DDS of New Policy seemed to fit the same Dosage Profile as the others that produced good horses as DDS, a 4.5 DI and a CD = 1.0. This is right in line with that of Riverman.

It also appeared that Secretariat blood worked well with forty niner as shown by Gone West. I started thinking that it might be other factors besides simple inbreeding with Mr. Prospector as other Prospector sires didn't fare that well. Mr. Prospector seemed to be a bit too heavy towards speed and it could be that Secretariat balanced it out a bit. It seemed that Secratariat and Nureyev were more classic speed with CD below 1.0 bringing more endurance. Of course Forty Niner already gets endurance from Tom Rolfe as a DS. Anyway, I looked into Theatrical out of Nureyev, but of course he was already gone, and considered Robin des pins who had already sired some good horses, but then came across Atticus. Brings both Northern Dancer blood through Nureyev, and Secretariat blood through his mother. And the SSS showed good results for similar horses.

Clear Account Cryptoclearance x Private Account x Blade. 3yo filly. StLcards3 stable.

Born a little groggy.

Cryptoclearance seemed to work well with Damascus blood, Bold Ruler/Nasrullah, Hyperion, Northern Dancer, Princequillo, Buckpasser.

The progeny with the best across the board ability seemed to have a DI of around 3.0 and a CD of just less than 1.0. Blade brings in Bold Ruler from his sire and Princequillio as the dam. Private Account brings Damascus blood through his sire and buckpasser as the dam. This horse hopefully will have endurance and go on either surface. I really wanted to get some ND blood in there (maybe next time), but I think what I have will work fine.

I broke down and did some more breeding today. 1 for the stlcards stable (2yo) and 1 for the stlcards2 stable (3yo).

Still have 1 or two more I want to try, but that will come after I get my BP's. Both of these were with credits. Had some others I wanted to breed instead, but they weren't credit available.

Private Ballet 250+BP's, sex pending, Private Terms x Moscow Ballet x Marquetry. Private Terms was available so I went from there. Seemed imperative to have Northern Dancer blood. Looked at going through Danzig or Nijinsky II. Was real close to using Polish Navy but don't know anything about the dam-sire Tatan. Opted instead for Moscow Ballet. Get Nijinsky II, N.D., and Cornish Prince who brings in Bold Ruler. Choosing the DDS was a challenge. Really thought I needed to get Raise A Native blood in there or inbreed with ND. A lot of options for both DS and DDS were gone due to being a credit horse. Finally chose Marquetry. Marquetry got me a little of both, Raise A Native through Conquistador Cielo (Mr. P) with Vice Regent (N.D.) as the dam-sires dam or whatever that would be.

Next up was My Spring Place 100+ BP's, For this one I decided to copy the lineage of a real life derby hopeful named Fonz's. Lineage is Out Of Place (Cox's Ridge/Damascus) x Spring Double (Double Jay/Hyperion) x Banderilla (Native Dancer/Dark Star). Like the first 2 but haven't seen Dark Star in the sim.

Well we'll see what happens. Has a DI=3.0 and CD=0.8. Next horse I breed is going to be lower DI and CD if these don't work out. I sure wish there was a place that had a tool to calculate a 3 horse Dosage profile. Might have to write my own someday, unless I can convince myself it has little importance in the sim.

Fast Flying(AUS) II was born this weekend. Flying Spur (Danehill, Mr. P, Sir Ivor) x L'enjoleur ([Buckpasser x ND x Chop Chop] as that has the potential for a Rasmussen factor to occur) x Fast Play (Seattle Slew x Buckpasser x Hasty Road). Not sure about distance or surface, but you really seem to have to try them all anyway, so what the heck.

Wood Nymph 39894, 2 year old filly in Madman3 barns was born today. Last week, I had acquired Indy's Beer for $100K for the explicit purpose of breeding his pedigree. For 499 points, I bought Woodman (For the record for those of you in the far future reading this, breeding right now is extremely tough and we have to use our free points before July, anyway, so I went ahead and did it). Thus, this filly cost me 624 points overall.

Woodman x Lear Fan x Sadler's Wells . Should be a good turf sprinter / miler, I'm hoping.

Rusty Scabbard Now. A phrase from a song called Conquistador in which a Minstrel sings to him about his Invalid Expectations of him. The song qualified as Canadian Content with Procul Harum being backed up by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, became a mega hit here, and is one of my favourites.;

Conquistador, a vulture sits
Upon your silver shield
And in your rusty scabbard now
The sand has taken seed

Hence Rusty Scabbard Now. Valid Expectations x The Minstrel x Conquistador Cielo 385 points. Valid Expectations has does nothing in the sim, but had a good year as a RL sire last year; he is of the In Reality sire line, which I love with its descent from the Man O' War line. The other 2 bring traditional lines.

Gotta use those points somehow!
