I'm kinda hoping this jump starts the posting of the races.

I actually almost have to wait for the TJC Utilities to update their "Race Day Program". Without that great utility, I am almost lost anymore on raceday.

BTW, while you are waiting, check out 50480 in the auction. Someone is a total moron. $20,000,000 for a horse. Teamerik was the old owner, erik is the new owner. I assume this is a stable transfer of some sort.

Out of that $20,000,000, I wonder how much he is really going to see . . . going to have to check this guy out in the SSS when I get home.

Awww, what the heck. I'm going to check these out anyway.

Rotciv's Honey Bunny goes off at 1/5 in .1206. I have to thank gaz for this one!

Val's Desert is in .3401 and one of 5 second-favorites at 6/1. Should be a wide-open free-for-all sprint! I need to check my jockey, but I like my #2 post position.

Do you want to see me look stupid? $6,000,001 baby Black Tie Senor(ire) goes off at 5/1 odds in .0214 under Baumann. Bulibasha, an unraced Kingmambo x Sadler's Wells x Danzig goes off as the favorite at 5/2. Unbelievable, IMO, PGA Tour also goes off at 5/1. He's an unraced JEBLAR progeny. WTF? Is Jeblar an up and coming sire? Does this mean we should be breeding this guy? Or does it mean Nijinsky II x Hail to Reason on Dam-Side is worth that much? Or does it mean Black Tie Affair isn't as good as I thought?

Skin Jumping begins his post-tag existence in Minnesota. He's available for 15 points and $75,000. Unfortunately, he is by far and away the favorite in the race at 5/2. Honestly, without a tag, however, I can't make use of him. So, even if someone picks him up for that price, it will be a bummer, but there's not much I can do about it.

Similarly, Brown Bro will get claimed from me for sure out of .5203. She's up for a measly $10,000, and going off at 3/5 odds -- almost guaranteed to be snagged. Oh well. She has done remarkably well in starters, but doesn't have the juice to compete in allowances, I don't think. I'll be sorry to see her go, however.

This is all part of the planned re-tooling of Madman4.

Zarb's Pass goes off at 7/1 in his 12f claimer. I'd love to get the $20,000 tag for his price. There is an outside shot this will be a betting op. Only 6 horses in the field, but according to the odds makers, zarb's pass is terribly outclassed. They are probably right, but I need to check out the field.

Just Another T is available for $2,500 if anyone wants him. Big mistake on my part. I acquired him as a very unraced 3 year old. OUCH. I only paid 2,006, IIRC, but he has taken up a valuable barn slot. Good news is that if ever breaks his maiden, he will have a decent starter-tag from here on out. That's a big IFFFF regarding breaking his maiden, however.

Alyrun Wing comes back to the main track since a long injury lay-off. This "Should have been bred away a long time ago" horse still hasn't won for me yet. But I'm starting to develop a soft spot for this guy. On a good day, he can run 104. On a bad day, well, he will really stink. The surface is a bit messy this weekend out in Nevada, so I'll have to check to see if that will help him or hurt him. One of his three wins came on an off-track, at least.
He's sitting at 9/1 in a large field, but with a good post position.

Wow. That's it? I think those are all of my runners. I'm going to be very interested to see how a few of those guys run. I should have a minimum of 1 winner; and feel relatively good about most of the race placements. Alyrun Wing is in a tough situation, but he will be until I breed him. Zarb's Pass needed a lower tag claimer, but there wasn't anything available in marathons for him.

Going to be a short week at the races! But some serious re-tooling will have to go on this weekend.

BTW, Sal At the Bell was sharp! this week, but I had been training him for 1376, anyway. I tentatively entered him in the Stakes run in Nebraska, but when I saw that he probably wouldn't win the race, I scratched him. Going to run him on a three week cycle this time around to see if giving him a bit of break helps.

As I said before, I don't think Mike has the sim programmed that way. But I've been wrong before, and am willing to give it a try.

Once again I mis-entered a horse, Show Me the Green. Sure wish the sim would notify you of blatant mis-entries. Tried to enter a horse with only 4 races in a restricted allowance (where you have to have 5 races run). I seem to do this quite often. I am trying to race this horse only in MO so it really wouldn't have mattered since there were no other races available anyway.

I think the claiming ranks will have to be combed through carefully throughout the next little while as useless-without-a-tag horses get put in claimers. I intend to put some in at bargain prices the next few weeks and only hope that I pick up equivalent bargains elsewhere.

Another slow week, only 9 races. Too many damn 2-year-olds clogging up the stables. Toral and toral6 have blown their 750, while larot has yet to do so. I haven't introduced toral6's new horse yet in the other thread, but last week I saw that the breeding combo used to produce Red Tory Theory was still available late in the week. I views this as an insult to my breeding choices, so I did a clonebreed, named Blue Tory Theory. Imaginative, huh? Toral bred Polish Provocation by Langfuhr, who had a good year as a 2-year-old sire RL last year, so we'll see.

Rusty Scabbard Now goes off at 8/1 in his opener, RTG.

BTW, Mike updates sires in large amounts around Derby prep time and around Breeders' Cup time, as well as tweaking them from year-to-tear. (I e-mailed him to ask). Most sire updates for 2001 are done if you're thinking of some sire who soared last year.

Highlights after perusing my draws this week include:

Knowingly HuntGoes off at 3/5 in a low level claimer. The jock will set the pace, and win me the race, but most likely lose me the horse.

Simple Brush A very nice three year old donkey I calimed for 10k. Had I not misraced him in the Iron horse, he would of probably had a 6 for 6 ITM%. I am using his 10k tag while I can, and he drew a 1/9 for an hopefully, an easy win.

Lady Lord What do you do with a girl that pulls a 22/1 in a Maiden Claimer for 5k? Breed over her....Quick!

English Axer I gaz pony who did very well for me in the STR ranks. This is his first week after losing his tag, and it doesn't look good. 15/1 in an ALW.

Lightning Passing Can hit some decent SP's, just not against any kind of compitition. I am going to work him down from 150k claimers, until I find his niche, or lose him.10/1

Tabasco George Still trying to figure this 3 yr old out. Ran a nice sp his last outing. Drew a 6/1 in an ALW attempt.

Foxy Golf I just can't let this girl go. She continues to lower my ITM%, and I continue to misrace her. She was one of my first ALW winners, so that probably explains the attachment. Anyway, she drew a 15/1 in this stakes race.

Fletchs Fury My pride and joy. A Fletch bred horse who actually can run. She drew a 5/1 in the Utah Handicap, and should compete nicely.

Externally Learn A three year old who probably shouldn't be in the STR's with a 11/1 draw. Oh well. He has earned a race were he is not up for grabs.

Orange Dusty 51/1 odds. 'Nuff said.

Seattle Sleep Boring claimer at 7/1

Special Will A lightly raced 4 yr old who does will in 20-30k claimers. I am stretching him out at 14 furs. He drew a 4/1 so I am thinking I might lose him.

Falutin Pepper 3/1 in a 150k claimer could keep him in my claimer with a nice win.

Pricey Courage My pride and joy. This boy can run. He has the best kick around the 6-7 fur mark. His last try at this distance he deystroyed the ALW company by 12 furs or so. Anyway, this will be my first Grade 1 race, and hopefully, at 5/1, my first grade 1 win. Should be a good W/P/S bet.

I will take up the second half of my ponies later tonight. 11 more to go :).

I'll check out that horse, fletch. I'm running my claim utility now. This may be a very good week for claimers -- lots of horses entered because they just lost their tags, coupled with the fact that we have less time to enter claims and Davarto may not get the claim list up.

FYI -- rotciv just acquired a $1 horse in auction! Wu-hoo! I like this new system. I just got beaten in madman4 for a $1 horse, and I instantly had a chance to submit a bid on another. :)

Fletch checking out Pricey Courage . . . you ever considered doing a bargain breed with Sutter's Prospect? ? ? Record looks sharp in the sim! I was going to do another Stark Secret for a bargain breed in Madman4, but I may go Sutter's Prospect after looking at that record . . .

Interesting. Only 2901 horses available for claim this week. Doesn't appear that the lack of starter tags has forced any horses into claimers this week . . . Either that, or the "updating" light problem caused entries to be low across the sim.

I have a Sutters Prospect baby. S.O.A.D. #72706 who is shooting blanks as of right now. I think alot of my 2 year old babies are bred more for the longer track, so I am just getting them the experience now. But yes. Sutters Prospect should be in anyones breeding projects based on the performances that Pricey courage spits out. For some reason I am strangely optimistic about my chances in the Grade I this weekend. I just have a good feeling that Pricey Courage is not going to embarass himself going head to head with the #1 ranked 4 Yo+ Colt in the sim.

Second half of my horses racing tomorrow:

L.Horse Obviously a turfer. Might have to stretch him out next go around. He drew a 12/1 in a 100k claimer at 7.

Starke Brush Another failed 3 yr old claimer pick up. 13/1 in a 10k cliamer. I really hope I lose him, but I doubt I will.

Brick Home A three year old claimer filly, who had only one go at turf. I'm still experimenting with her, so I dumped her in a 75k cliamer on turf just to see what she could do, and she pulled a 7/2. So I am liking my chances.

Stormy Fairy Has shown some promise on the 10+ fur races. 11 route races with a 2-2-5 record is pretty good if you want a guaranteed ITM nag. Drew a 9/2 at 11 furs in an ALW attempt.

Well I hope you took my advice on the monks bets. I maxed out all of my stabls this week. I show a 32.6 to the dollar profit. Not too shabby. Also. I had 25 races this week with a 5-5-2 record. Not too bad other than Prciey Courage got smoked like a cheap havanna in the Grade I.

I did three of Monk's bets. Unfortunately, I put wayyyy too much on the one set I lost. I made out OK overall, but not even close to maxing out.
--------------
Honey Bunny cranked a 102.9, to become my 12th 100+ horse in the history of my 4 barns. Not sure where that came from, it's a new best for her.

Bro's Bro from madman1 beat St. Prospector, too. :) Gotta love that.

Otherwise, pretty ho-hum. 8-3-1-1-0-1 in my 4 GSR barns.

Gotta breed away Alyrun Wing. Dang, he's killing me.

Black Tie Senor ran a 62.7 speed, at least. So he might still have potential. He found a tough field in a high-purse race, it seems. PGA Tour -- the Jeblar colt -- won. Geez. Going to have to get me some of that bargain-breed Jeblar stuff.

A little history from what I remember from what Gaz told me with Honey Bunny It was actually a horse he bred to transfer, however he could not get her to run badly. He actually wrote mike an e-mail, and had mike transfer the horse from one barn to the other. He even told me he lied to mike about the circumstances in which he needed the transfer. Oh well. He's probably just pissed that you ended up with her madman :)

Fletch Hmmm. Thanks for the info. That makes some sense. Honestly, I just put in claims for as many of gaz's decent horses as possible. As long as they were adequate, I didn't give them too deep a look.

In this case, my first glance showed me a horse that would be good to awesome in 2K starters, and then I could at the very least keep her around for a few more months to breed her away. . .

After this performance, and especially after your history information, Fletch, I'm going to risk boring you guys and delve into her history more carefully here . . .

Honey Bunny
91.9 to win an open ALW run in first race as 3 year old -- a race against Males. Awesome beginning. 6.5f D.

Gaz put this horse onto turf in an apparent effort to sabotage it. 66.8 and 68.0 looked like it would accomplish that goal. But he gave her a week off, and that ruined his hopes; she cranked an 84.4 despite being told to hang in the back and probably dawg the race. Then a 77.8 and 79.6 in back-to-back-to-back races, and that's when he gave up trying to tank the horse.

After getting into Gaz2 . . . mediocre run at 6f, but then 5 consecutive low 90's ranging from 7 to 9f, including 3 wins. Then an injury in a stakes race. . .

Came back with a win at 9f (D), 8f (T). Meaning she was undefeated, for all practical purposes, in routes.

Then the races that worry me. 96.0 at 8.5f, 90.6 at 9f, 75.6 at 9f (T), all with rest. Then a 74.8 on yielding slop (must not like off track). Followed by 97.6 for 4th in an allowance and the 92.5 at 4.5f.

I guess I was too caught up in her failures after week 1257 . . . I don't have a good explanation for her defeats at 8f-9f in this time period . . .

The last time she had run a dirt sprint, however, was week 1103 -- almost a year ago. Therefore, one theory is that she might be an awesome sprinter, but just wasn't fully developed at the time.

Or, another theory would be that she was simply off her form there for awhile. Or that maybe he was playing with start% and/or jockey stuff that was limiting her potential.

Honestly, however, the theory that makes the most sense to me is that this last race (102.9) was a fluke.

I think I'm going to train her for another filly-only starter race, and/or the next filly-only sprint in Pennsylvania, hopefully in 3 weeks, maybe in 2 weeks if nothing looks good for 3 weeks out.

Before exiting starters, I'd like to stretch her back up to at least 9f and see what she has in distance runs. But first another dirt-sprint test if possible to see if this was a fluke.

STABLES UPDATED

Looks like I have the chance to do a quick bargain breed in Madman4 if that's what I want to do . . .

My stables got cleaned out a bit this week. I lost Skin Jumping for $75,000. As I said earlier, good luck to his new owner. Whoever picked him up really doesn't understand the sim.

I also lost Brown Bro. I actually think that with a 10K tag she is useful. Nothing too great, but useful. Oh well. You've got to place your horses to win . . .

The shocker, IMO, was that I lost Just Another T. I hadn't been able to give away that horse until this week. Unfortunately, he actually is marginally competent at 2.5K starters. Dang. I was hoping I could take advantage of that. No biggie, however. I got my $2,006 worth from him. Wasted too much barn space to do it. But it was a gamble that came close to paying off.

Madman1 might have messed up. I picked up Bold Ginger, a 7 year old mare for that barn this week. My only successful claimer in all my stables. Sigh.

I was attracted to her 81 speed history in extremely limited opportunities, as well as her 2K tag. The problem is that she got her clock cleaned this week. Which means she hasn't broken her maiden. Which means she needs to win in a MSW race . . . I may try to sneak her through MC's for awhile. I don't think she'll win in MSW competition.

Geez. If I don't start successfully getting my claim horses OR having my homebreds start to run better, I'm going to be in deep crap in this sim in just a few more weeks. I'm quickly losing all the horses that place for me, and I haven't been able to replace them with anything functional (outside Honey Bunny) for quite some time . . .

A quick recap of last week which i haven't had time to do....

Chief Coy basically bombed in his graded race try ,finishing down the track...

Silics Gift ,a new 2yo homebred , won her race but not an especially fast sp(60)...she was sharp as well so i don't know that bodes too well for her(on one past experience i had a homebred come in sharp...He won his first race, won one other and has done nothing since!)...I think i need to try her on grass asap...We shall see...

Danger tow was the other winner, a starter allowance race...

This week was pretty much a disaster...Not having any time to put in doesn't help...

One hilight was the run of Wet Beer Belly (A 3yo by Storm cat, i picked up a few weeks ago in the claimers)...He ran second in a MSW but the fascinating thing is he improved from a 56sp lto to a 96 this run!....Hopefully he is going to turn into a runner and that last race was not a fluke...

Craw Chop continued his great run of form winning his third race in a row...

Aside from them, there was nothing much to get excited about...

I have been sitting here going over my stables... I am going to have a major overhaul of my stables in the next few weeks...The first thing is to clear some space for breeding...Last years breeding crop are basically a flop so they will be the first ones to go...Probably into the auction(If i breed over them it is like admitting defeat...I hate that!..lol)Maybe someone else will turn them into something decent-although i doubt it...Out of the 40 odd horses i have , around 15-20 will be either gone or in low-level claimers in the next month or so...The next homebred i am thinking about breeding is :
Stepen Got Even x Carson City x Sadlers wells
At present it will cost a bomb(somewhere around 900-100bps)when they are all available...They are usually gone by the middle of the week at present...Any thoughts?..

After the breeding session is over i will be hitting the claiming ranks aggressively...Picking them up and dropping them straight back where they came from...Hopefully though, i can find spots for them where they can win...And even more hopefully, a half decent one might come along...That's the plan for the next wee while anyhow..

Heres my winners for the week:

Pub Frazetto Man I love this horse. I just wish I could remember who I cliamed him from so I could thank the trainer again. He was a starter alw nag for me to utilize the 4k tag. When he lost it and moved up to 15k, I thought I would give hium a chance to prove himself. And that he did. Won the Cari County Special with a 101 SP. For a 3 yr old, that pumps me up.

Lightning Passing continues to baffle me with a 103 SP and a win in a 150k claimer. He is prepping for the second leg of the ironhorse now.

Sand Bar(FR) Another three year old that someone gave up on too early. Nabbed a ALW*185 win for me with a decent 85 SP#. Better yet, he still has that 2.5k tag.

Falutin Pepper Lost him in a 150k claim, which is too bad, however for 50 k, I did get 2 wins in 2 starts out of him. I'm not an economist, but I think that pencils out to the positive. His new owner sanders just bought a nice colt who ran a 103 sp.

Simple Brush No surprise here when he went off at 1/9 odds. Had no trouble in this race. He is eligible for the second leg of the iron horse, however I am pulling him out. He has no chance with that first run of his.

Some of the other highlights. Foxy Golf did not embarass herself in the California Handicap. She lead most of the way and lost by 3-3/4, posting a 104 sp. Fletchs Fury was a dud in the Utah Handicap, however she came back sharp, so I think the jock puled up on her. She will be running in the second leg of the Iron horse 2 weeks from now. Pricey Courage was too star struck to run a good race. He posted his fourth 100+ sp in a row, but came in 5th to some stellar compitition.

It was a great day at the races though. Some of my barns are better then others, but its all fun and games :).
