I was going to wait until Saturday but with the TSN Stratomatic getting some pub, I thought I should plug this now instead of waiting a few days. No disrespect to Erik, but a slight alternative worth investigating is Puresim.com It is a simulation sports game, one player only, with fictional teams and players, although a realplayers are available I think, but they cause a few problems right now.
Anyways you create your league, and teams, they're quite a few cities/markets to choose from, and hire your scout and manager. The on field managing is done by the manager, but you can hire a skipper to fit your team concept and set hit tendencies.
You play multiple seasons, and stats and records are kept, single season and career, and they're is a hall of fame. You can watch your games similar ESPN gamecast or Yahoo gamechannel, and there is a newspaper every week or so with some articles on hot hitters, prospects, injuries, and highlights etc. It has a lot a little things that make the game fun for me.
There is a free alpha download, but it has a lot of bugs that were fixed in beta testing, and it runs slower than the new version. You could check that out if you want, but to get a real idea of what it is he is giving a 10 day free trial when the game is released on Saturday. The game is 27.99. If you do decide to check it out, dont let the alpha be your final judge. |
