Over the next year, we will be releasing 3-4 historical theme seasons of Strat-O online. For example, one possible season in discussion is to make a player pool out of the best, pre-1980 team from each each franchise (for example, the 1955 Dodgers, The Amazin' Mets, the 1927 Bombers, and so on).
I'd like to hear your thoughts on theme seaons that you'd like to see. What would excite you?

I think that would be an interesting idea but why not include all teams regardless of age. Not too sure how many "best" post 80s teams there are but say a 2001 Ichiro vs. 27 Babe Ruth would be cool. Which reminds me, Babe better be able to pitch and hit. =)
I personally would like to see more effort put into the core game. Currently, the game lacks enough options to make it seem like you have any control over the game. Couple reasons why:
1. There really isn't any show of outcome of managerial decisions. How do I know putting the infield in in the 5th inning is influencing the game- it might but the game report doesnt show it. I want to know if a held runner actually results in a single instead of a DP- there's no way to judge those factors with the current game report.
2. Bad AI decisions. The one outcome you can see is the bullpen/pinch hitting management. Consistently the AI makes woeful decisions- there needs to be a much more detailed options in the manager strategy so you can control the team rather than the computer- esp. the bullpen and pinch hit options.
3. Setting batting order. Extremely imperative that the manager has the option to set batting order for specific pitchers and decide on switching hitting side. If I were to play the game again in its current form, I would get several extreme "reverse" pitchers- righties who kill lefties. Since the batting order is generic (lefties face righties) and switch hitters alway line up opposite of pitching, this is a game flaw that good managers will exploit.

SV:
3 is in the works. 1 + 2 are very, very hard to change. Your decisions DO matter, but it's very hard to show that in the box scores effectively. 3 is something we're working on now.

For 1, you could start with putting the actual matrixed result (gb(dp)A+) on the game report, that would be a start. Managers can figure "whats wrong with their team" a lot, just by this. Also putting the clutch and the ballpark factors (why you guys omitted this part...) on the cards/game reports would help put more strategy into the game.
For 2, Doesn't the cd game (which runs this game, I think) have a detailed bullpen tree that you can input? Admitedly, this would still be a lot of work but 1. would be a doable task and much appreciated!!!
Thanks.
