Good luck tonight, bmd! We were in a similar position a couple of seasons ago in Lg 17. Hopefully, this season will produce far better results for us. It would be great to make up half the Final Four. |

Our 7-1 center is out but we should still be fine, I expect a nail biter. Hopefully 1 of us can take the NTT title.

I can't tell if seadogs is playing games with me or not. After Friday's games, Jesus Rehm, his stud, was at C, which is where he played in Friday's game. This would have been perfect for me for various reasons. Well, he made a lineup switch prior to Saturday's updated and now Mr. Rehm is at PF, which is less preferable for me. I can't tell if he did this on purpose to throw me off or if this was just an error on his part by "showing me his hand", so to speak, before the game. What do you think?

Despite what you may think, my conf recruits. Pontiac would be the best team in the lg if their coach wasn't dumb as a rock. I maxed Keeting.

I gave up trying to recruit players based on what conf they are in a long time ago. Everything is so unpredictable. I just try to recruit guys that have good stats coupled with attributes and scouts that might scare others off or force others to ignore them, regardless of conference (unless it's 1). Which is why I targeted a few in your conf. It wasn't a slap to your conference, but more the fact that I found players that matched my needs in your conference.
It looks like I was more or less correct on Keeling. If I maxed him and you maxed him and he still didn't end up on the most-recruited list, I'd bet you and I are the only ones. Glstand informed me that he maxed Keeling, too, but then deleted his actions when he saw that you were in that conference.
I'll max him to the end, but I really will have no chance of landing him.

I agree, I never thought you would recruit from my conf in lg 1. I have not checked the spreadsheet(do not have excel on the new computer yet, thanks btw), but I find it hard to believe there was not anybody similar to Keeling in any of the other 28 non gurupie conferences.
Also, my safety nets are almost entirely in conf unless I am looking for something specific, so when you max someone in conf or put points on them that dwindles my safety. I'm glad you tried to check with me before maxing Keeling, and whoever else you maxed in conf 16, if I was around I would not of minded you maxing one of those guys, excluding Keeling.
I will end this rant by saying I will continue to stay out of gurupie conferences when I'm aware their is a gurupie in the conference. Also, no hard feelings GDogg.

Wow. I definitely wouldn't have maxed Keeling had I known you were going to get so pissed about it. I honestly didn't think you'd max him. A G scout +0 with F rebounding big man usually isn't your cup of tea, from what you've recruited in the past (unless I am sorely mistaken, which is quite possible).
I gave a scholarship to Linton, but did not max him.
As you can see from my posts above, I wasn't lazy in doing my recruiting. I sat here and poured over the spreadsheet looking for players that I honestly didn't think would be highly recruited. I had already spent the points before I realized that Dayton was in your conference. That's the only problem with the spreadsheet...it doesn't have conference numbers on it. As you can see, I posted about Keeling 40 minutes before the deadline. That wasn't when I maxed him, but when I realized that Youngstown was in the same conference.
I'm sorry if I pissed you off, bmd. And don't say I didn't because your little remark to start your post has an air of both hostility and disappointment. But the reality for me in Lg 1 is that I have been stung so many times IC that I had to try to find some players elsewhere. I expected Stich from my hometown to be up there. I also half expected to see Falin.
And I was also right on in figuring that Keeling would be lightly recruited. I'm sorry, but we only get 4 maxes regardless of conference. There was only a 17% chance you were maxing Keeling. And, when I realized that he was in your conference, I posted a message to you to see if you were on him.
I think your rant was uncalled for and if there were truly no hard feelings you wouldn't have posted it. But, you did and there apparently are. No matter what you may think, I attempted to avoid recruiting against you. I suppose I could have tried to find another player to max right at the wire, but I also ran the risk of really screwing myself over by not getting my last max in by the deadline. So, I chose to take the 83% chance that you were not maxing Keeling rather than screw myself.
I will end this rant by saying that I find your rant to be in poor taste, despite the last sentence. I guess you're right. I am unpredictable...

As much as I preach ratings over stats there are exceptions. Keeling being one of them, 23.7 PPG 8.3 RPG 1.2 SPG in conf. I HIGHLY doubt it'll be just you and me on him. I would not have gone out of conf on a guy like this as 23.7 PPG is flagged in peoples minds and PPG and height are the #1 things people search for.
The spreadsheet you sent me has Region numbers, which you know are the conference numbers for teams. Check column V.
I'm not sure where you get this 17% chance I would recruit Keeling. Maybe 3 maxes divided by 23 in conf guys?
I don't think I'm alone on this issue of going directly into another gurupie conference. Lg 4 may be an exception because of so many gurupies in that league. I'm not mentioning names but I'm almost positive other gurupies feel this way.
A "sorry, I'll be more careful next time." would've done the job. And believe it or not, I still have no hard feelings.

I dont know if many of you (i know Gdogg does), go to the boards at simsports, but there was an issue on having more than one team per league, which went on forever. To me, it isnt a big deal, and this is exactly why-
Weather or not you have one or more teams per league, you will probably have a friend or someone you exchange information with in that league.
I know Gdogg backed the "it's not cheating" standpoint (which I also do), and this is just another case in which it shows, and that's why I posted.
Other than that, you can ignore my comments- sorry for interupting.

bmd, I apologize. I did not intentionally do this and I think we all know that I am not the most adept with computers, so I didn't even notice the region listing. Although, that may just be my ignorance.
I don't target gurupie conferences. I never have and I never will. Me recruiting Keeling was truly a mistake. If you'd like, I will drop him as soon as w3's come out. I won't drop him now because me blindly spending points on someone else could be disastrous.
I still think you took a crappy tone with me, considering the fact that you knew I didn't jack you intentionally.
No hard feelings here, but you have my email address and I don't think the MB was the appropriate forum to express your displeasure with me. From now on, I'll stay away from 16.
By the way, who else are you maxing in 16?

hey - i'm a total newbie in SimSports (Lg27/conf18 - Knoxville Peppers, 0-7 and sinkin' like a stone!) so feel free to ignore me - but i'm looking for a way to download recruit stats to Excel without cutting and pasting(sp?) each region - is there a macro or something available? - i am enjoying the game but don't have too much time to devote to it and i need a shortcut (i promise to never be successful :)

Spyce, if you have time, you might consider getting a second team in Lg 4, which will be beginning next week. Pretty much every gurupie who has an SSB team has one in Lg 4, so it might be more fun for you to be in a league with all of us. Just a thought....

Next week is the start of the exhibition. Regular season games start the following week. Looking around the league, there are plenty of open slots, so anyone that wants in can probably get a team provided they request League 4.

I requested a team on the 12 (maybe 13th) and still haven't had the account created (Yes, I did the validation thing). I sent an email to pick6king earlier today.
kev, the spreadsheet will work in Excel 97 or 2000 (although it is infinitely faster in xl97!). So if you have either one, it should work for you too.

I just joined League 4, i originally had a League 27 team but thought it would be more fun to play with gurupies. Looks like the Spyce are in for a tough season with only 4 wins in the last 3 years, the rebuilding project should be fun. I run XL 2000 so if a spreadsheet is available that would be groovy (i attempted to run the macro but at two hours i had to shut her down) - game on!

Lucked out getting this team. A class of +14 came in, and my SR class Im losing is a -2 this upcoming year, so I actually have optimism with this team.
Looking at the Conf, I see Toral is also in Conf 31.
And just wondering, what other Conf's are you all in? Is it seen as not right to go into another's conf to recruit?
