0 Subject: W-3 as of July 12th, league 4

Well my w-3 was 2, for all four of my maxed recruits. I suppose the odds of losing all of them is about (2/3)^4 ~ 20%. But even if that should happen, I'm recruiting two more guys that no one has even put 1 RP on who can at the very least shoot. I've got 3 more I have the lead on with 16 RP's, but others are recruiting them as well. Not quite sure what to do yet, I think I might drop one of my maxes who has no business being recruited by more than one person.

Every single one of my backups is being Maxed by someone. Hmmm. I think I'll need to reeval my backup selections. I had two 2/2(s) and two 0/0(s) for my Maxes. The 0/0(s) were Hometowners and the 2/2(s) are ICs. Don't know how I feel about the whole thing just yet.

RSF, sounds like my recruiting class is similiar to yours.

I've got clear leads on 2 maxes (a hometowner and an OOC.) I've also got a 4/4 and 2/2, both in-conference kids. Needless to say, I'm pleased with my maxes.

However, 20 of the other 27 players I put RPE's on have been maxed. That was very suprising because only 2 or 3 of those guys ever showed up on the Top 75 list.

I usually develop 4 other strong leads to go w/ my maxes. I'm not sure how that will be accomplished this season.

Too bad I can't just accept a walk-on and carry-over some visits and RPE's for next season.

2/2, 2/2, 1/1, and 5/5 (Hardison). All the other 3 are in conf. I went after poor scouts. I'm also all alone on 3 others with 16. More later.

My maxes are 3/3, 3/3, 2/2, and 0/0 (all in-conference). Out of my 2 primary backups, one I'm all alone and another I have only one guy ahead of me. With 2 clear leads, I'm about where I would have expected. Let's win some ties this year!

4/4, 4/4, 2/2 and clear on a back-up at less than 40 RPE (making me think he's not much to get excited about) - 13 of 17 "sleepers" maxed by others with 2 more out of reach - i tried to pick some specialists with weaknesses hoping to get some leads, i guess my standards were too high

Newbie Questions:
1) How do you judge a prospect's Defence from stats - i have seen this mentioned a couple of times
2) Does a 151 player always go to a maxing coach or can they end up with a non-maxing coach at say 141 RPE?
3) If i'm down 17 RPE on a non-maxed 4/4 what are the odds of getting the guy if I max him from now on - is it safe to assume the other coaches on him max when they see he isn't currently maxed?

Beezer - nice game Friday, my streaks continue (4-0 OOC, 0-5 IC) - i was hoping to see Collier at 1/1, but 2/2 ain't bad - good odds one of us will land him

Can't help you Spyce-haven't played enough to know.

You vets-do you find recruiting as maddening as I do? No matter who you max you have no idea how many others are maxing him until W3-W/12's come out. What truly bugs me is to see a potential plus 2 maxed by three people, yet I am in striking distance to a potential stud who has 32 rps's!!

Not sure what the skill is. Regardless of whether the recruit is a sleeper or stud you have no idea where the guy will be when w/3-w/12's come out.

Just venting!

2 2/2, and 2 1/1

Usual for me.

Paducah recruiting doesn't look nearly as good as last season, but if we can just win 1 tie, we'll be in great shape. A 5/5, 4/4, and 2/2 on the maxes, and we're a bit behind on a couple of sleepers, with a lot of points and visits in the bank.

My experience with this game is that going after specialists will get you killed more often than not. It's easier to recruit those non-spectacular guys that have lines like 11/5/1/1/1/1 and a decent scout. If you can land 1-2 superstars and have a bunch of grinders that don't screw up games when the stars are on the bench, you can go far in this game.

I want to pick up a second team now that i have a better feel for the game - looking for a League that is 3-5 weeks behind/ahead of L4 - any suggestions for a good one?

Beezer - nice D last night, 34 points on 17/64 shooting - wow

Spyce-I have a League 18 team-Houston-that I am unloading. It is in the last week of the season now with exhibitions starting next week. It has a good nucleus with some good leads and two 1/1 ties. If you want it its yours. Let me know.

Yep password on the way. I HAVE NOT recruited for the week yet, although your options are limited. You are also signed up for the Bran Muffin tournament. Lol! Good luck!

As promised, here is some more...

Loren Cameron (19) 2/2 6'8 GGPFFF (poor scout)
Oliver Quinton (19) 2/2 6'9 EFFGFE (poor scout, int might be poor)
Buster Cassidy (19) 1/1 6'9 FFFEPG (poor scout)
Jose Hardison (19) 5/5 6'10 FFFFFF (fair scout)

Hardison, of course, is the stud. 23.0 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.5 TOPG, 2.1 BPG. Wow. He'd start next year. The others I'm not so sure.

With 3 2/2s, the odds are good that I'll get one of the three, and even Cassidy I can't complain about (13.8 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.8 BPG). Cameron looks like the best of the three.

I have 3 unmaxed guys that I'm leading on, and a couple others that are close, but there isn't much talent among that lot. Hopefully, the Cassidy guy will drop, and I can max my other guys.

This was the roughest season of recruiting I've seen in a while. I have one uncontested max, Ethan Hyde, two 2/2 in conf recruits and a 1/1 OOC guy (the HT team is the other max), Conf 26's Gene Oates.

I have no uncontested safeties and I am pretty far behind on the only decent looking prospects of the 30 guys I have points on. It was almost like I was drunk or something when I did my recruiting because these guys all suck.

Guess I'm in for a rough time. 1/1 and 3/3 on guys OOC-and-the big problem-7/7 and 5/6 on guys IC. Dropping off the 7/7 guy to try to catch up on a better player who is at 32.

You never know where you stand with these recruits-even sleepers-and it drives me crazy to see better recruits with 40 rpe's that you know are in that situation cause everyone thinks they are maxed.

Oh well-happy recruiting!

Woohoo! 1 0/1 lead and two 0/0 leads. 1 3/3 and 1 5/5 tie.

Life is good!!:)
