Oh the humanity. A poor week (2 wins in 14 races) but worse I lost two horses in claimers where I thought the had to bite the bullet and put them in. Chief Northern (#6740) I couldn't do anything with except in 10K starters, I decided, so I put him in a 10K claimer. Knew I would lose him. He could only finish second as a 4/5 favourite; he may be finished anyway. Worse was Earl Gal (#11800), an original horse from toral farms, my first stable. The Gal (a guy) was making a nice living finishing 2nd in long turf starters, and to requalify him I had run him in a $2.5K claimer before without losing him; I became frustrated seeing a couple weeks ahead where he needed to run in $2K starters so I put him in a claimer for that price. Gone. Sighhhhhhh. Well, I'll tracvk them through the Maryland utility and look for them again, if their owners should be dumb enough to put them in claimers again....I haven't been really burned yet by a horse I've lost.

On the good side, the arrogant Massachusetts tipsters said Krakatoa (#37192) couldn't win at 6 furlongs and would finish near the bottom. He won his $13.5KN2L claimer going away. Ha! This is an interesting pickup because he was bred and eventually put into claimers by trainer leesnyder, who knows what he's doing and whose judgment about when to give up on a horse should presumptively be respected. But I thot I could get a second win out of him...and the horse has *never* run on turf, so who knows what his future is....

Getting really lazy breeding wise. larot is the last stable that needed to use its 750 welfare points. Saw barn25dog advertsing that Dixieland Band x Private Account x Mr. Prospector was available so just picked it up. 511 points. Ho hum. Need to waste another 250. Feel like a government bureaucrat who has to waste money at the end of the fiscal year, because if it isn't spent it's gone, and not spending it makes you a presumptive target for budget cutting next year.

Still having fun, squeezing wins out of cheap claim and auction pickups....I told everybody when I started this game that my only aspiration was to be a successful "claiming trainer" but at the back of my mind I imagined something greater....turns out I was right, and it is fun.

I was out of town last week and will be leaving again Sunday so won't be able to enter any horses again. I'm fairly sure I used up at least most of my breeding points and have had fairly good luck with them. I now have 3000 something BP's anyway with the Iron Horse prize. Looking forward to getting back to racing soon. The TSN golf game has lost a lot of appeal for me lately for some reason (I think it is TSN in general). I refuse to play baseball due to the impending strike. Just playing some draft teams and various other golf games so I should have more time to get back into racing.

I've been having a hard time bothering to acquire horses. The week that I did my claiming utility, I got totally shut-out. Personally, this ad-click thing is a bit of a pain for me. Have to take extra steps all the time. Sigh.

Forgot to set jockeys again this week and paid for it with 4th place finishes. Ugh. 3 yo American Mint homebred last year as a 2 yo finally broke his maiden at 10f. Mediocre speed -- 87.0 -- and low purse, but I'll take it. We'll see if he has endurance. If so, he might be useful.

Bargain bred Starkly Secret slogged through a 61, but got a MC win. Paid for itself, at least. Kept the horse, too, so I'll get one more race.

Val's Desert got killed in a 6f sprint -- ran a 98. Without a decent jockey, it's really tough to win the competitive races, I think. Hard enough with a good jock. Private Count appears to be back from injury, she ran a 98.1 over 8f. Not a personal best for her, but good enough to indicate she's not totally out of it. Only finished 4th, of course. Danged jockeys.

4 90+ performances for me out of 8 races, and the best finish was a 3rd. UGHUGH. Competition in the sim is unreal. I really need to clean out my barns, but am too lazy to acquire new horses so I'm too afraid to drop these guys too far in claimers.

I am probably going to breed over homebred Ballroom Blitz and put a lot of points into it. I'll look and see whatever is left over toward the end of the week. Have to use up my points. Why did Mike do that???? Need to use up the points in other stables, too, but don't know exactly how many. Too lazy to figure it out. Sigh.

Also, still waiting for the changes that have been promised for awhile now. . . On the upside, a couple of my 2 year olds are starting to show some promise, so the future isn't totally bleak. Don't get me wrong -- I probably don't have a graded stakes winner in the group, but I a couple of high 70 speeds that should develop based upon breeding. Cross-fingers, knock on wood...
