Has it really been two weeks?? Jeez.

My newbie bred High Priestess totally flopped on her debut. Figures.

The good news is that I might really have a runner in 3 year old homebred-filly Ice Princess ... She flopped in her first dirt race, but has been tough on turf. She just won an A3L 7f T, 50K purse allowance run with a solid 98.8 from the outside 19th post position, and she won rather handily. Couldn't believe it. That's win #2 in a row. It will be interesting to see how she develops.

Val's Desert cranked his third 110+ speed rating for me, but finished 6th in a tough New Jersey Stakes race. I knew the competition was going to be tough, but since it was same track . . . sigh.

Newly acquired Leaf Cutter Ants(ire) paid off almost immediately. Had to pay $50K for him, but he won in his first race with me -- an easy win over 5.5f. He wasn't raced much and had a high tag. One of the few claimers I've gotten lately. Maybe this is what I have to do. Speed rating was only 85.5, however, so he'll have to do better in the future.

Key West, 3yo F, continues to improve, winning a $175K Allowance run. Still not up to 90 speed yet, but oh well.

Sal at the Bell I put him at 50% start% to change his tactics to see if he'd snap out of his slump -- ran a 96.6 for 4th in a high purse race. Sigh. Not terrible, but not great.

Well, those are the highlights. Since I'm too lazy to check the auctions or claimers, I'm getting a lot of non-top-3 finishes since I don't want to expose my horses. I have decisions to make about some pretty mediocre to terrible 2 year olds ... Pleasant Gulch, Wood Nymph, for two examples. Oh well. Barn turnover is a good thing.

I only managed to get 2 horse signed up this week. Site was down Tuesday night when I tried and I was gone all day Sunday. It sure would be nice if you could sign up on Saturday rather than wait until Sunday.

Both horses flopped. I tried Pleasant Senor at 14f maiden without success. Dixie's Prized Event raced on Turf in a 2yo 6f Maiden and only ran a 59 for 6th place.

Re last week's thread: thanx,Madman, for the idea about Kangaroo Minstrel. I never would have thought at looking at the start percentages so precisely -- although I have had the intention for some time of tossing him in a sprint. Just seemed that better route opportunities were available when the time came each week.

Away from home, and without the SSS to evaluate claimers and auction opportunities. Takes a lot of fun out of the game. Ah, how we become slaves to technology. Why, in the olden days, we would get up at 4 in the morning and head out to the training track to watch how horses did individually, and share info with our personal human contacts....

Bad week, 1 win in 12 starts. Mine Devastation did win an allowance, his 4x, however, and put up a 100! Now 100 may not seem much to Madman what with 100s every week, but it's been a long time for me.... I am reminded of Woody Allen's forlorn line from Crimes and Misdemeanours (the best movie of the 1980s)..."the last time I was in a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty.

BTW, Mine Devastation not today but a few weeks ago became my second horse to go over the $100,000 earnings (for me) mark. He has 5 wins -- all of his wins -- in the last year -- sometimes I tend to forget how long it took him to break his maiden.

Looking forward to the GSR 3-year-old Breeder's Challenge series starting in 1502. First contest I've ever been in. Not too late to breed a horse for it -- and prices are *so* cheap now.

Stupid site seems to be down again this week. This is the best time for me to enter horses. Sunday night and I can't even log in for the second week in a row. Guess I won't have many entries this week either.

StLCards -- no problem here. Sure the problem isn't on your end?

I guess it must be on my end but I can't imagine what it could be. I couldn't get into TSN either although I am getting other places fine. Got into SSHR Saturday with no problem. I'll try rebooting I guess.

This is kind of weird. If I try to get in from my bookmark or the drop down list from guru's links I can't get in. If I type the address in I get in fine. Kind of screwy?

I don't think that is it either. Now I type in the address and can't get in. D'oh! Never should have closed it.

StLCards, I have no problem with the site now, but I had a similar situation as yours with it a few times a long while back. I couldn't get in, one or two other players couldn't (they were posting on resident MBs about it), I eventually got in using an old bookmark, but then it wouldn't work. I e-mailed them and got the explanation...geez I forget, that there was probably some not working connection somewhere along the chain of the Internet, or something.

In my case, the problem disappeared within a number of hours.

Thanks guys. I think it might be a browser problem of some kind. Seemed like I could get in using AOL's browser but not with Explorer. I am getting some kind of error when starting up AOL saying some AOL tool can't be loaded. I think I will have to reinstall it. I keep saying I'm going to go cable at home, but it is just too easy to keep things as is.

OK. Now I can't get in. Ugh. I better get my entries in ASAP. I don't have much time this week, either.
