This thread is devoted to the RotoGuru Championship series offered week 1600 (12/7/2002)...

I will buy the Rotoguru Gallop Colt Championship (name still up for negotiation). 6.5f on dirt, in Arkansas, track #6, Stakes, purse of $75,000. The race will be open to a maximum of 3 horses from each Gurupie. Password will be posted to this forum when applicable.

What site do we link do? RotoGuru's home page? homepage

or some other page within this site, or where?

I am ready to buy "The RotoGuru Gallop Fillies Championship" 6.5f, password protected, dirt sprint, $75K purse, Stakes race.

I just need to know where to link to. I have shrunk the rotoguru banner to an appropriate size. I believe we just need to forward the banner to Mike for him to link it to the race.

I'm not linking to any site, myself.

I too have shrunk the banner to an appropriate size and figured out that we just need to give the path on our computer to get it reproduced.

The races in posts 0 and 2 are 2-year-olds only, I believe?

Toral -- yep, mine is a 2 year old. I'll go ahead and buy mine this weekend.

Stl -- Probably won't link to a page. I was going to draw something up . . . but then again, we have all the info here.

Toral, I don't think browsing to an image on your computer is good enough unless someone can log in remotely and download the banner from your computer. I think it means if you have a banner on a webpage or something.

I think I will link to this sites homepage and maybe get Dave a new prospect or two. I will first let Mike know though to make sure he doesn't consider this a "business" which would then not be allowed.

Hmm. Deed is done. Yes, they can browse to and take an image from your computer...but it doesn't look like much right now, with the black background. It'll show up right on Upcoming Races etc., with a white background -- I hope.

Mine has been bought as well. I didn't browse to my banner though. Just emailed it to Mike. I'm not holding my breath that he will read it. I did link to the homepage at Rotoguru and that at least works.

Uggh. I messed up that banner but good. I am not a graphics person. The background is transparent, so the black lettering is unreadable. In addition, I forgot that the banner replaces the race name, and it just says "RotoGuru".

So I designed a new banner, text "RotoGuru Gallup 2002" on a brown background. (Brown=dirt, you see. Symbolism.) In a font that looks a lot like the RotoGuru font, although not so much when squashed. Not exactly state of the art, but I'm embarrassed to think how much time I spent on it. I've e-mailed Mike asking him to replace the banner now. Now I just need to get him to read it. I know Mike has a super-secret e-mail address, messages wherein he actually reads, but I don't know if Barndog or someone will give it to me.

Hot sim news is Lordpye having two stables suspended for using a bad word on the MB.

The banner is in a .gif format, if anyone wants to see it.

Enuf of banners. Onward and upward! Mine Devastation and Nail Endangering have their final preps this week, if they get in.

I remember that transparency issue awhile back. Someone was wondering why it didn't look the same anymore. I downloaded it and noticed it was transparent. Seems like Mike should allow an easy way to fix it. I too forgot that the banner would replace the text. Hope Mike just leaves mine alone, as my I'm sure my banner has the same problem as yours.

When you say it got "squashed" I'm not sure what you mean. Did you resize it in photoshop or something, or how did you resize it?

I resized it using "Stretch" in Paint.

Maybe I should e-mail kingab, it seems he is a little more active in fixin' up things. Have no idea what his email is, though.

Just registered my race. The stable is now open to receive 2 year old colts!

I didn't bother with a banner. Been too busy to make up a page, so I just went with the link to Rotoguru.com.

FYI, I got totally screwed out of races this week. Too tired Tuesday night, had to work late Wednesday. Sigh. Going to be a boring week.

If I would have had my MadTrainer2000 program updated, there wouldn't have been any problem. DOUBLE SIGH. . . it WILL get done this weekend.

I've got a bit of a problem. I missed this week's races, and all of my horses are sharp for 1586. This is not good. Anyone have any advice on how to keep them sharp for 1600?

Should I dare risk running them at .90% this week? Or should I just keep the horses trained for 1600 and whatever happens happens? I'm especially thinking about 2 year olds . . .

I would let the 2-year-olds sit, remaining at Train For 1600. There are some who aver that horses who go sharp, back to RTG and then to sharp run better. Don't know about that, but you can't run them this week. Or at least I wouldn't.

I see no problem with running 3 and 3+ horses this week. I myself would run them at 100%, unless they have a history of not coming up sharp in 2 weeks, in which case I'd set them at .94 or something.

Mine Devastation prepped with a 105 in a stake today.

I agree on the 2 year olds. Let them sit. I would not run 3yo's either except as a training race, .90. Didn't have many horses going this week. Rich Wine hung for 3d in her stakes race with a 101SP.

BTW, you guys need to check out Flaw's speed analysis at the SRF. Eye-opening stuff. Basically, he re-did the analysis that I had done 15 months ago.

It drills home what we already know -- speed inflation exists in the sim.

The great week is here! Please e-mail me for the password.

(BTW, anyone else can give the passwords for their own paif-for races out anyway they want, but I'd think twice before just posting them there. Particularly since there's a link to the RotoGuru page seeable on your race title. If some lurker happened to see the passwords and enter their horses, we could have a real mess).

I think I will use the Horse ID password (for explanation, click on Races/My Sponsor/Passwords). Give me the number of each of your 3 entrants, and I will give you a specific password for each. (I then get to see who is entering!)

This is it. Uhhh, where do we get the passwords? I'm rather worried -- I have no idea which email I used to register the stable that I made the race for. I'm sure that two of my email accounts are defunct, actually.

I'm in the password selection screen -- choose by stable or by horse ... and a matrix of numbers ...

OK. You only need that page if you are going to give each of our entrants (or eligible stables) an individual password. In that case you have to get us to e-mail you first and tell you what horses we are planning to enter, and then enter each horse's ID number (or stable name) in the matrix.

Simpler alternative: hit "Back". The general password for the race is in the left-hamd column. One size fits all. You then just e-mail it to us.

Disaster with my race. No entries accepted. I assume it's my fault since the sponsor page now shows the password as 872819 -- one fewer digit than the one I sent you. Yet I'm sure I double-checked it, and when the entries were made, each had an asterisk beside it, which I understand to mean that the entry had given the right passwors and been accepted.

Will e-mail Mike, see if this can be corrected. Don't know what will happen to jockey selections. I am very sorry.
