You (I believe it was you) posted a message on the main SSB board asking about HS schedules. I did some digging and figured out how the HS games are scheduled, but thought I'd just share it here as a Gurupie exclusive.

HS teams play 27 games - no tournaments, just a straight schedule. Each team plays 15 region games and 12 non-region games, but it's easier to break the schedule up by weeks. HS games are in region on weeks 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7, while OOR games occur on weeks 2, 4, and 6.

Schedules are not balanced at all - in fact, each HS team plays only 6 different teams the entire season! If you number each city in a region from 1-8 in the same order that they are numbered in the game ( Reading-1, Newark-2, and so on), the matchups look like this for each type of week:

In-region week:

Monday - 1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8

Wednesday - 1v3, 2v4, 5v7, 6v8

Friday - 1v5, 2v6, 3v7, 4v8

Non-region week:

Monday - Team 1 in region 1 plays team 1 in region 2 (team 2 v team 2 and so on through 8), team 1 in region 3 plays team 1 in region 4, and so on

Wednesday - Team 1 in region 1 plays team 1 in region 3 (team 2 v team 2 and so on through 8), team 1 in region 2 plays team 1 in region 4, and so on

Friday - Team 1 in region 1 plays team 1 in region 5 (team 2 v team 2 and so on through 8), team 1 in region 2 plays team 1 in region 6, and so on

Example: Reading faces the same 6 teams each HS season - Newark, Hershey, and Buffalo 5 times each in region, and Worcester, Lancaster, and Stamford 4 times each outside of their region.

To use a specific example, in league 4 Reading's Wesley Haney scored 37 points and made the HS Stars of the Game list. Since this is an in-conference week, Reading played Hershey in that game.

Since Haney is a SG, we find that he was matched up against Hershey's SG, Ruben Leonard. How good a player is Leonard? According to my rankings, he stinks - 734th out of 768. Maybe we should devalue Haney's performance a bit. Or not - there are still several factors that come into play.

The ideal use for this information would be to download all recruit stats after every game. These averages could then be converted to game-by-game statistics. Using a database, you could get an excellent feel for defensive ability by comparing each player's average stats against a particular player to their overall average. You could also use it to identify sleepers that may have the bad luck of facing 5-6 great defenders in their games.

Lots of possibilities here, and but I don't quite have the DB knowledge to take advantage of this. But at the very least, you can use this as a quick check if you want to see if a stud is legit or just lucky to face bad players before plunking down that max. Hope this is helpful, and if anyone gets that database up and running, send me a copy! :)

No doubt about it, I'm impressed.

Yeah, how in the heck did you figure that out?

Excellent write up. I'm surprised the HS schedule is so unbalanced - I could see how that could lead to some misleading stats for some recruits.
