Subject: What recruiting information do you use?

Hey guys,
I figure since we're getting ready to start League 15 it wouldn't be a bad idea to shore up my recruiting process. I know my style has grown a little crusty and I'm wondering if there isn't a more efficient way to do a better job?
In the past I've just used the Excel spreadsheet to sort, now I'm thinking about trying to write a formula that would rank everyone.
I'd like to hear how you guys use, if you do, the Additional High School information. In my 11 seasons, I've never used it. I figure there's an opportunity to improve my recruiting by using it, but I'm wondering how much weight to place on it.
First of all, we can only see 3 players, and the rankings take into account all 12 players on the team.
Also, can we assume that all of the scouts are "EXE" for the purpose of this page?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Sorry if the post is a little scatter brained, it's the end of the day and I wanted to get these thougths down before I left the office.
Thanks. |

The high school page as I understand it is Exe scout-the info there is accurate.
As far as recruiting I guess there are lots of factors. My primary one is to usually look for my needs then scope out conferences that have what I need. Then who will fly under the radar. I know teammates and what they do our huge factors. Low turnover ratios I like also.
Stats I think tell alot regardless of attributes. I've heard stories of guys -2 who average 20/10. Still a huge crapshoot though.
Really excited about this new League. Hope it comes off.

I've never really used the additional high school page myself. It is my understanding that the scout on the page is exe too.
I like to recuit guys that have poor or fair scouts and have fair, poor, or none attributes. To me, you can get low ties or leads on these type of players. I've always found that the guys I go after end up having better attributes then what the scout says. With poor or fair scouts you can pretty much judge for yourself what type of player the guy will be. I also try and recruit guys that have more steals than turnovers.
I've heard of people using the additional HS info and only go after guys that play for winnning programs. I'm not sure of their end result though.
I consider myself a conservative recruiter and will usually go after the best available player that I can get. I hate walkons!!!!!
That's probably not a lot of help for ya but it's what I do.
Good Luck!

I do not know how to make good use of the More HS Info page. Although, I have talked to some people who swear by it. Nor do I really pay attention to how good a guy's teammates are.
I tend to follow a method that I believe J has used successfully for several seasons (if not longer). I max guys who have great attributes, but poor stats. This goes against pretty much everything everyone else seems to care about. Although honestly, numbers are the most important thing. Then, in my safety net, I have a combination of more guys with good attributes and average stats along with guys with a Poor or Fair- scout, bad attributes, and good stats.
The newest tweak in my recruiting strategy has been to wait until the top 75 list has come out before selecting safety net players (this is an idea I got from you FP, though I'm not sure you've tried it). Since I have been doing this, I have had several opportunites to get in on some nice players who weren't maxed.
This method has worked very well for me. Although, I have won quite a few ties in League 4 (though none bigger than a 3/3 with my current players, and only one was a 3/3).
Here's some proof that this strategy works. ;)
Kmoney's Recruiting Rankings
Anyway, that's my two cents. Good luck.
