balls - do you want me to run the same lineup in all 3 games? Are there any position switches in particular that you'd like me to make?

As far as my top 75, I had 2 guys show up. Rexroat at 18 and Gividen at 23. I'll probably stick on both of them.

Tucson comes out ok with the W3-12.

Evan Daugherty is a clear lead. Nothing to special about him, just a solid all around game. He's a little undersized at 6-8 and playing center. I'm looking to play him as a PF.

Edison Riley 1/1
Vinnie Vancleave 4/4
Karl Hickman 4/4

Glendon Curry (9) = 1/1
Giles Gray (21) = 0/0
Gary Sweeney (22) = 3/3

Also:
Glendon Mace (10) = 0/2 = Good looking scoring PG (18.9ppg 3.2rpg 3.5apg 1.4stl 0.8to 0.3blk)

Giles Gray is a 6'10" PF/C (12ppg, 9rpg, 2blk)
Might move off Sweeney (PG) since Mace is fairly similar.
Curry and Gray are similar players, but could use a C/PF infussion, losing a 7 footer, a 6'10" guy and a 6'8" SG.

Wow, seems a bit late for that. I don't really have much. Best I can offer up is LeRon Gilkey (Reg 7) with 87 RPEs on him. 6'11 decent player, great hands, 2+ blocks. A lot to overcome with 87 RPEs.

jeff, would you mind sharing your recruiting knowledge on how the computer recruits? I noticed your post over on the sim hoop boards the other day and was wondering what that was all about. I can leave my email address if you'd like. I also understand if you don't want to reveal that info.

On a side note. I've been struck with the west nile virus and it had kicked my ass for two days this week. I could barely walk and eat those two days as my whole body was in pain. Hell, it even hurt to try and sleep. I still get frequent head and stomach aches but the whole body aching is gone. Not a pleasent experience to go through. Just thought I'd share that with you all. :(

Thanks fellas! I am better, at least well enough to get back to work and do a half azz job. I get better with each passing day.

The post that Jeff made was in lg 4, the Recruiting Outlook thread. Here is the part of his post that I'm curious about. I'll bold the part that interests me.

"Neil Hampton (reg. 19) 6'8" SF P-,G+,N-
22.1, 5.3, 1.3 steals
Projected: EGPFGF (+3)
Neil should be a 0/2 lead after this week because I'll be taking over the lead from a couple of computer teams. His hands aren't great, but I like the scoring and d."

I would like to know how he figured he could catch the computer. I'm assuming the comp puts a set amount of points on its non maxes and would like jeff to indulge that info, if he'd want to of course. If anyone else can help that would be great as well.

Another question I had was how did jeff know that the comp had the lead on the recruit? I'm assuming that jeff was behind the comp by more than 13 rpe's.

balls,

Yes, the computer puts the same number of RPE on people each week (there might be exceptions, but I haven't seen them), regardless of whether they're getting caught or not.

If you're a UTT program, one of the benefits of that is that you get to see which teams are w/12 of the leader. If you have that and see a computer team in the lead, and he's not being maxed, you probably have a shot to catch them if you're not too far behind. (Of course, there could be other people between you and the leader with the same idea, but that's rare, I think.)

Hope that helps.

I also just assumed the comp was a small program and they just maxed 4 and didn't have a safety net.

Okay. Here's my story.

A couple of seasons back, J collected some data about guys recruited by computer teams. He posted the info in the S24 thread. This showed me that computers spend between 9-12 points every week on a least a couple of players. I had always assumed that they used points the way the auto-recruiter did. But, that's not the case.

This season, after the W3's came out, there were 3 players in my top 35 in the 42-51 point range. This is a big indicator of a computer-led recruit. Not many human players would risk 9-12 points each week on a guy who could be maxed. So anyway, I've got a guy at 48, and two at 50 points. Doing some quick math, I figure that the computer's been spending 11 points each week on the first guy, and either 11 or 12 on the others (these are all different computer teams). One of the 50 pointers actually had two computer teams on him. Once you've got that info, you can project the final total of RPE's that the computer will place on each guy. Based on where I was RPE-wise (at 14 or 15 I believe), I determined that I'd be able to get within 3 on any of them by maxing the final 5 weeks. This may not be entirely fact based, but from what I've seen about the computer, the average number of points per week it uses on a particular recruit typically goes down as the season progresses. Case in point, the guy who was at 48 RPE ended the season at 92; one of the 50 point guys ended at 95, and the other 50 point guy ended at 99. This means that the computer dropped down to 9 or 10 points a week some weeks on these guys.

When chasing the computer, you don't have to sneak up on them. They'll do whatever it is they do, no matter who's behind them. On Neil Hampton, the guy mentioned in my previous post, the weeks went something like this:

Wk Me Comp
3 14 50
4 31 60
5 48 69
6 65 77
7 82 84
8 99 95 (or less)

I don't remember the exact data, but this is close. I didn't expect initially to get a lead on the guy, only to get within 3 (and get into the tie). However, both computer teams backed off and allowed me to move in.

Another data point I gained this season involved Joel Lauder, an original max who came in 0/0 after the W3. I spent 8 points on him the next week to keep the lead, but saw that a computer team was now within 12 of me. Doing some more math, I determined that the computer had been putting 12 points a week on him. It's easier to see like this:

Wk Me Comp
1 32 27
2 49 39
3 66 51
4 74 63

So, what I figured I'd to to get back to 0/0 is spend 13 a week for 2 weeks, and then spend 12 a week for the rest of the season. As expected, I saw the computer team within 12 in week 5, but not again for the rest of the season.

So, here are my basic rules. Look for guys with 42-51 RPE's spent on them after the 3rd week. If you're a Large team, you can verify that the leader is a computer. If not, I think it's a safe assumption. If the guy's worth maxing, I'd feel confident that at the minimum, I'd be able to get within 3 of the lead for the recruit by the end of the season.

Anyway, that's what I know, or assume to know. Let me know if it's confusing or if there's something you have more questions about. Hope it helps.

Good luck.

"If you're a Large team, you can verify that the leader is a computer"

I have teams that are Large programs and always thought that I could just see who is within 12 of me. The way I'm reading what you are saying is that I can be 28 points behind and I can still see who the leader is. Is that correct?

You can see who's within 12 points of the lead. The team #'s are listed from most points to least. In the case of a tie, they're listed in numerical order.
