What made you pick Flying Spur?

Wish I could say that I was an excellent judge of horse flesh and saw real potential in crossing those particular lines, but alas, I'm already on record in the Gurupie Homebreds thread.

Basically I was using an Australian Stallions Directory at the time and read some decent things about Flying Spur. They had a suggested breeding thing that gave some lines that crossed well. I used the SSS (thanks Madman) to help look for horses from those lines and the dams0dam-sire that all fit together. I believe I used the Delmar page to look at dosage profiles as well. All in all, this is what I posted originally:

Fast Flying(AUS) II was born this weekend. Flying Spur (Danehill, Mr. P, Sir Ivor) x L'enjoleur ([Buckpasser x ND x Chop Chop] as that has the potential for a Rasmussen factor to occur) x Fast Play (Seattle Slew x Buckpasser x Hasty Road). Not sure about distance or surface, but you really seem to have to try them all anyway, so what the heck.

One interesting thing is that I am pretty sure that Flying Spur was a champion sprinter IRL, yet his SIM prodigy Fast Flying II(AUS) loves the distance.

I'm trying him out on the turf this week. Always wanted to see if he likes both surfaces and I figure this is a good week to find out. If he doesn't respond, I feel there is a better chance for a big race next time out when I move him back to his preferred surface.

Equinics here we come!
Maybe not the best distance for FFII, but he is in nonetheless to represent GSR at 16f dirt. Just hope he turns up sharp. I have my doubts now after running a warm up race last week that he dogged in, and now he is sharp this week again. I'm training him towards the Equinics and that will be his next race regardless.
