First off, a recap:
Super Sim Searcher.
Now, introducing program #2 from Madman -- an Excel 97/2000 application (it should work in either program, although 2000 is recommended):
The TRAINER 2000
It does the following handy things for you:
a) Automates your jockey selection process, b) Automates your bet placement, c) Automates your auction search, d) Automates your roster analysis.
Comments from users:
"I must admit that you managed to even outdo your first effort with the changes you made to this jockey utility."-- zgreat. Comments taken without permission, of course.

Instructions are complicated. I'm relying on your computer savvy to pick them up. Quick run-down.
The key to anything you submit to the site is to get the password stuff correct. Stables and Passwords go on the "ID list" sheet. The best way to ensure that you do this correctly is to do login to your stable and right-click on the My Stable link and copy that into the Excel sheet. Then, cut off the first part which is your stable name. Put the rest of the garbage into the place for your password.
All macros are designed to be run from the HorseRacing Menu that will appear at the top of your Excel program, right between the "Windows" and "Help" menu (assuming your startup menus are the default Microsoft Menus).
When running the auction utilities, the first one refreshes all the bids. The second one goes through each horse and gets their information.
Make sure you run test bets before you submit the actual ones. If the bets registered, a "Y" will appear in the far left-most column. I recommend submitting a $1 bet for each type to get used to the interface.
The Get Jockeys button simply downloads the records of all jockeys in the game.
The Submit Jockey feature works like this. Type in your stable names in column a. You have space for up to 6 stables. Also, enter your top jockey choices for each track in the Jockey Table listed below all these stables.
Each week, type in the track numbers where your nags are carded, and the number of jockeys per track. Hit Submit Jockeys, select a stable, and your jockey selections will be registered. You will know this because a new window will pop up.
If you want to OVERRIDE your listed jockey selections, enter the jockey number in the space under each stable. You have room to override up to the top 4 jockey selections. Note: if you override the top jockey, it simply replaces the top jockey with your override selection. If you want the #1 to become the #2, you'll have to also override the #2 jock, etc.
Play around with it. If you can figure something out, experiment. And if worst comes to worst, you can ask questions. Although I have to admit I'm kind of burned out on this ap right now, and I hate writing instructions . . . |

BTW, StlCards -- this is why I asked you awhile ago about whether you used Excel or not. Hopefully this will save you and your daughter some time.

OK. Yahoo doesn't allow indirect downloads. So here's a page I set up for it.

Madman:
How can I divert you till I get my computer running? Maybe try to put you on a "schedule"? Maybe get you some tickets to boxing match at Madison Square Garden (Always worked on "I Love Lucy" when Desi needed to be kept out of the plot for the first 25 minutes.)
:)

Hmmm. Consider the above an Excel 2000 utility only. Some of the stuff doesn't work perfectly in 97. Although I'll be producing a fully versatile version at some point.

Toral -- don't worry. I'm publishing version 4.0 of the SSS, a version of this Trainer 2000, and then THAT IS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least for a LONG, LONG time. This has taken up too much of my life. Although I'm very proud of my SSS program.

Version 4.0 of the SSS is up and running. Seems to be working, too. It's pretty danged cool for sire research. Otherwise, no different than version 3.0.

Madman Where do I get the file breeding.txt from davarto's page? I followed the link you have on the download page to surf the turf, but don't see a breeding.txt file or link anywhere.
FYI - I hope to be around a bit more now. A couple of weeks ago my oldest daughter got hit by a car while standing on the highway looking at damage from a different accident. She was in the hospital for two weeks and has had multiple surgeries. It looks like everything will heal with time, so we feel fortunate. I haven't felt like posting much, but have occasionally messed with my various SW teams and horses as a distraction.

Yipes. Sorry to hear that about your kid, stl. Ouch.
You get the breeding.txt file as part of the Sire Searcher download -- download it and execute. It's buried toward the bottom of his page.

I just upgraded from SSSv1 to v4. WOW! Upon quick inspection using the Sire search feature I notice there is no summary information of races from 4.5-5.5f. I'm assuming that the 4.5-5.5f races are clumped as less than 8f although the heading says 6-7.5f. Anyway, nice tool. Hope I get some time to use it to its full potential. The sire search addition is awsemome. I've also downloaded trainer2000 and am going to play around with it also. Too cool Madman! Thanks.

I'm not having much luck gettting Trainer2000 to work. I can't get past the stable name and password entry part. I put my stable name stlcards3 in cell 2A and the part of the link you describe after the stable name in cell 2B. I've also tried putting the whole first part of the mystable link into cell 2A. Macros are enabled. When I try to run it I get an error message saying uh oh can't find .... and then it goes into a loop if I say ok or whatever it is asking me. I'm using excel 2000. Any ideas?

I've continued to play with SSSv4 and there seems to be some problems with the sire searcher part. Alot of times I don't see my horse come up when it should be there under a sire, and I have also seen where my horse is shown but has no stats next to it. In all cases my horses show up in the horse.mdb when I search them individually with the stats for the races run.

stl -- I'll be posting a more complete Trainer2000 with instructions here in a day or two -- honest.
SSSv4 -- Talk to Davarto about that. The program relies on his breeding.txt file to list horses. Many newer horses simply didn't exist in that breeding file. For example, my Agriculture Bomber didn't exist.
If your horse is shown and has no stats, it must be because it doesn't have 5 races run yet.

StL -- I have version 4.01 up there as an alternate -- I fixed the headline for sprints in that version to be less than 8f.

Attempting to install SSS: I downloaded MDAC 2.6. Clicking the mdac_typ.exe file, I get an error meassge, Missing Dependency, saying that this product requires IE 4.01 SP2 or greater and advising me to download the latest browser. I am using IE 4.0 (and Netscape 4.78), have no desire to upgrade to IE 5.5 or 6.0, and Microsoft no longer supports 4.0 (i.e., I cannot upgrade to 4.01 SP2 from there.) Is there anything I can do?
