Could be a good week based on morning line odds for my stables.

Newly claimed Senior Raw-4004 goes off at 8/5 in a 25K claimer. It is a 13f turf test. He is bred for major distance and while this may be a big jump, it should be interesting to see how he does.

April Fireworks--0707 is an 8/5 favorite in MSW 27.5K race. Posted 86 speed first timec out and I am hoping to see a 90. Light Award ran an 85 and went down the next 2 times. I really hope I have a runner here.

Out With Colony--0710 is a 9/5 favorite in MSW 27.5K race. I have continued to increase his distance and he has improved his speed each time. Now, I hope for more improvement and a maiden win.

Secret Groove--4501 is an even money favorite in 13K MSW. A 4 horse field, so the 10yo hs a great chance to break maiden.

Senior One--4508 is a 5/2 top choice in 2K claimer. I expect to lose him but I want the win first. He's been best at 6.5 f(80+ speed) and I hope he keeps that up and brings me a win.

Arctic Phone--0401 is the 5/2 2nd choice in 10K claimer. Favorite will be tough to beat, but I hope for an ITM performance.

Midget Talent--5702. 12/1 shot. Still not sure what I'm doing with him. Gotta just suck it up eventually and realize 90 speed was a fluke.

Excessive George--6302. This horse sucks. Its a 5K Mcl and he won't even break maiden here. Off to auction?

Iago's Rule--0603. See comment above. Only this is a she and its a 20K MCl.

9 horses entered. 5 favorites, 1 2nd choice. Should be my best week yet.

The Clam enters the fray again this week..1414..8/1..pp2..A 35k stakes race at 8f..He will probably have to break 100 to even look like winning this...At best be will be fighting it out for 3rd i think...He has a good jock and has had a decent break so who knows...Finding races for 3yo's against their own age is getting harder and harder and doesn't get any easier in the future from what i can see..

Yankee alphabet..4011..9/1..pp4...Gets a shot on the grass at last and a step up in distance...Up against a runner from Madmans stable!

Girlfriend parking..1311..7/1..pp6...Still hoping this guy can break the maiden ranks!!.Not too far away from claiming races...

Raindrop mark...0707..6/1..pp2..Up against April fireworks..Am hopeful he will go okay...

Fourth bingo..5807..27/1..pp2...I make some stupid decisions at times!..Bingo shouldn't be in this race and will be outclassed probably...

Explosive miner..2808..7/2..pp6..This is a 20k claiming race...Has a decent shot at getting itm it i think..

Voyage grimacing...1801..5/1..pp9..A 150k all. race, which is the cpu value of Voyage, so he only just qualified for this race..Am hopeful he will get itm as well..

Sparky brush(2411..7/1),Our Idols(4307..15/1)and Two dancer(1710..18/1) are all in msw races and are also destined for the claimers..

JKaye Going through the claimers, looking to pick up more horses before toral2 hits 20 races, I hit upon a possibility for my last claim spot...Senior Raw. However my sense of gurupie honour prevents me from stealing a horse from another gurupie. Unless you don't mind...? I won't claim him but I bet someone will.

All my horses ended up in horrible placements this week. Most frustratingly, Marisela couldn't get into 0803 despite my having 49 activity points! That's one eager field! I can't really believe that Earl Gal 7601 and Chief Northern 6114 are really 25-1 shots or whatever. Still I have to suck it up and prepare for an 0-for-7 week.

I entered High Heels, the cheapo claimer from the old gurupie stable, into race 0803 and she got in. 45/1 shot doesn't look promising, so lets just hope she truly is a turf horse.

I have a number of horses entered this week around the country, some just to get a race in to keep from getting stale. No favorites or even close.

Dusty From Round may have a shot in SC if he takes well to the turf. 9/1 odds, but looks like a fairly weak field (race #7005). The favorite horse at 3/1 only ran a 67 on turf.

Not expecting much this week. Good luck to all.

Very odd week. I placed 4 of 9 ITM, but 3 of my favorites did not. So it could have been huge.

Senior Raw ran a 48 at 13f. Probably incrased distance too rapidly. FOr 25K, he may have been claimed. If so, too bad, but there are 80s/low 90s speed horses out there every week for 10K.

April Fireworks finished 2nd for the 2nd straight time. Ran at 9f and held his own. Probably bred for 7.5-8f so that is where he'll be next time.

Out With Colony ran only a 64, and clearly 9.5f is too long for him. Probably try 8.5f next time.

Secret Groove ran a great race! Won by 5f. AS distance increases, this 10yo gets better.

Senior One dissapointed. At 6.5 f he has run 80+, but at 6f he can't break the low 70 barrier. Couldn't even finish ITM in 2K claimer.

Arctic Phone came on late to show. Only a 71 speed, but ran 8.5f after a 6.5 effort last time. I expect something in the 80s at anything 7.5-8.5f next time.

Midget Talent fell to a 64 rating at 6f. Not sure what to do here.

Excessive George ran a 64 and came home 5th. Low level MCl seems to be where he can finish close to ITM a decent amount after a 2nd place finish in his last MCl run.

Iago's Rule was a huge surprise in 20K MCl, running a 80 speed after 58,64,51 in first 3 efforts. Did a solid job and finished ITM.

A good weekends racing for me....2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds (and a fourth) from ten starters...

As predicted by Madman and Toral,Yankee alphabet enjoyed the turf and step up in distance to win his race..an 87sp at 8.5f which wasn't too bad..

Voyage grimacing also won his cpu(150k) restricted race..

Sparky brush and Our idols both ran second in their races..I have renewed hope for these two now!...Idols also ran on the grass for the first time...I am thinking i have a lot of shipping to Europe to do in the next few weeks..

The Clam ran third in his race..He coldn't match the pace of the other front runners but broke the 100sp barrier for the first time, going 102.4sp..(the winner went 112!)..

Fourth bingo ran third as well and i was pleasantly surprised by this...He only broke his maiden LTO and ran against NW4L this time over 9f..I wanted to keep stretching him out and this looked like the best option at the time(i still think it was a bit stupid to run him out of his class tho)...but a 91sp gives me a lot of hope for him too..

A couple of milestones too...First time a runner has gone over 100sp...The Cab stable went over the 100k mark in earnings and first allowance win with a drafted horse...

I just got back from a short vacation. I've got a lot of stuff to catch up on. This game isn't too fun if you don't have time to watch the Saturday races :(

I was 7/15 ITM. Could've been better. Or worse. I didn't have time to select my jockeys, and I think it really hurt. I had several 4ths, and most horses didn't run up to their potential. Just an FYI.

Congrats on Clam, cab. 102.4 for a 3 yo!! Wow.

A few miscellaneous notes on some interesting horses that ran last week for me:

a) Arctic Government This horse taught be a lesson. Never ASSUME that the horse can't run. Wait until after all options have been tried. Let the horse PROVE that he can't go at it. Here, the good-dirt race (race #2) was slow, so I assumed this guy isn't a runner. Turns out he just has a strong dirt preference! Hopefully, he can dust that 86 he ran this week. Nice to see a 90 MAD from the guy, regardless, however.

b) Tow's Terms and Elocat's Boys both ran 94's for me this week. But both are in dirt sprints, so they don't count a lot. Elocat's 94.5 is my 7th fastest performance, and Tow's Terms' 94.3 is #9. I now have 18 90+ performances in my stable's history -- out of 176 races. And 11 of my 36 horses have broken 90. This probably means I have too many dirt sprinters! since it is much easier to get these fast ratings in those races. . .

c) Snow Storm my favorite 2yo homebred, proved that he has some surface-versatility, going 70.5 in a 7.5f turf sprint. He finished a solid #2 in his race, bringing his winnings to more than $12,000 and his record to 3-0-1-1-1-0. Not bad for a 28 point homebred.

d) December Chop The first Madman winner in any of my stables, has now been claimed away. He ends his gurupie career with an 8-2-0-0-1-1 record, and $15,299 in earnings. I'll long remember his exciting 1005.1602 race; unfortunately, I just couldn't improve on it. He's 6 years old, I think he's just about reached the end of his competitive career. I hope his new owner treats him well.

e) Other ex-Madman horses continue to flounder. East A La Run again ran 8 points slower than he'd ever run for me. Dixon Queen ran 22 points slower than he did last time out under me (but he did beat 2 horses in a 14 horse field!). Manta Until Stones finished a nice 2nd for Shane03 -- and he was prompty claimed away. I regret losing that horse a bit, since he should be able to get a C2L win. . . Oh well. Eventually, he will run faster than the 76.4 he ran for me.

That's about it. I'm not going to do the horse rankings for quite awhile, I don't think. I want to automate the procedure. It takes too long, and it's a daunting task.

Suffice it to say, I think that Clam Carnival is the top Gurupie 3 yo. We'll see if Sal at the Bell can say anything about that this week :)
