With 27 active stables, the maximum POWER ranking is 81. Actually, Gurupie should have that total -- 81.

The minimum power ranking is 3. Toral2 has an utterly amazing 7.0 points per race, as he leads the power rankings. Congrats Toral!

Obviously, ITM and P/R are highly related to one another. Should the Power formula be changed? Opinions?

Madman - I would tell you how much I like this presentation, but I'm feeling too weak to speak right now. I'm not sure if I need new horses or my horses need a new owner!

StlCards -- sorry. Honestly, you just don't have the horses. Check out Devil01. . . That will show you just how important it is to have at least one top horse. Toral2 has almost half his races between the quality nags of Napkin Kicking and Kangaroo Minstrel.

Madman4 has had 3 90+ nags that account for 9 of the 31 races. But the main reason that stable has risen of late was the dumping of Gorilla Rusty (0/4), and a few upset scores from Drunken Badger and Buda U.

However, one thing you'll notice with Toral2 and Madman4 is that they have been able to get the occassional ITM from very slow horses in claiming races and such. So, at least from this list, I think the lesson is clear:

a) You really rack up the points and ITM by having a few very reliable horses and racing them a lot,
b) The better stables will supplement those points with occassional ITM hits from lower quality horses. (6 different horses have wins for Madman4, 5 different horses have wins for Toral2).

So, I think you mainly need better nags. And you'll gradually improve on your ability to sneak a few ITM races from the leftovers. That just takes time to figure out, I think. And it is VERY hard to do that with your original horses, since you really don't want to dump them into claimers right away (which is unfortunately where they most likely belong).

And, remember. You are competing against Gurupies here ;)

So the power rankings are based on the current week's stable and limited to races run while the horses are owned by the owner? Makes sense. I like the format of ITM/R, E/R, and P/R as those are the things I think most of us look at. The only missing ingredient would be a measure of speed withing the stables.

I'm not too worried about my power ranking right now, since I am still experimenting/learning. Many horses will be going to claimers soon, I just don't want to give up on them too early. I would like to find a way to get at least a MSW win from each horse, or be sure it just can't be done. Thanks for the nice chart. Good luck this week. One of these days we need to put together a "gurupie" race.

The power ranking is just the accumulation of the stable's stats. It probably SHOULD be based only on the current nags, but that would be hard.

It's tough to get MSW wins from all horses. It's hard enough to get Maiden Claim wins from all of them. This is why I have some objections to these sorts of stats to measure good training -- if you get your horses to win at higher levels than they should, that ought to count for something. And, too few owners experiment enough, probably because they are worried about it hurting their record . . .

Stables have been updated! With 4/5 ITM, Madman4 takes the ITM lead from Toral2, putting the top 2 stables in a dead-heat in the Power Rankings. . .
