Subject: Message Board Team (Week 34)

Hey everyone. We had a nice week, over 2100 SWP for Sat and Tue, around 400 SWP more than my own team (I'm kicking myself for not picking McAllister; it looks like I won't reach my goal of a top 10 finish). This is the week that Liverpool hosts Chelsea in the "extra" game, so barring injuries, we should have minimal changes. Just O'Brien, Speed, and Cort. Desailly, Melchiot, Terry, Gerard, and Heskey look promising. Also, keep in mind that next week the only matches are Man U at Southampton (5/13) and Arsenal at Newcastle (5/15). And then final matches on 5/19.
Any thoughts anyone?
Here's how Inter Guru looks now:
Westerveld
O'Brien Henchoz Babbel Hyypia
Poyet McAllister Berger Speed
Cort Hasselbaink

Bubba,I've got Bradford v Leeds on the 13th.Having got this far with the Men in White I was planning to go down with them!Poyet seems to have lost his starting spot, but could be back at home.I suggest O'Brien to a cheap Chelsea defender(I've taken nutty Le Saux on my B team)and Cort to Heskey or Owen. That leaves 10 trades for the mass exodus from Liv/Chels next week.I'm back in the top 10 by a cigarette paper thin 13 points-exciting run-in.And in response to your good wishes The Mighty U's avoided relegation with a win on Tuesday, and Wycombe's win over Bristol R. last night. Luck to all El Tel

El Tel, thanks for the Bradford at Leeds heads-up. I forgot that one. Congrats on your team avoiding the drop!
Does anyone know if Gerrard will be play much in the League matches, given Liverpool's cup finals? Or the other regulars, for that matter? Should we just pick up replacements for O'Brien and Cort, since Speed plays twice again in two weeks? I agree with the cheap Chelsea defender and Owen/Heskey moves.

My advice for this week would be to make sure you have enough trades to populate your team will players from Bradford, Newcastle, Man Utd, Leeds, Arsenal and Southampton otherwise you will not have a full team for the games next week. Just 4 rounds of matches left now and I am clinging onto 2nd place. I am around 900 SWPs ahead of 11th place and so I am praying that I can finish in the Top 10, I hope so !
Gutted I did not pick up McAllister instead of Berger last week, ah well, you win some you lose some !! I dunno what to do with Berger this week now, I have 1 trade availble to me as I need to keep the rest for next week. So far I have 7 players with 'double' games and I am tempted to go from Berger to someone like McAllister or Gerrard.

Nice going VIDevilRays, that's a great jump!
Good point Dai. We should be carfeful with trades so that we'll have enough for next week; maybe limit transfers to 2, so we'll have 10 for next week's moves (as El Tel mentioned). With that in mind, who are the ones to move? O'Brien, Cort, Speed? All have matches next week, so moving them may not necessarily be advantageous. I suggest we keep Speed (solid SWP) and go with El Tel's Chelsea defender and Heskey/Owen.

Just traded O'Brien and Cort for J. Terry and Heskey. That gives us 10 players with doubles and 10 transfers by next week to trade out of them. Good luck everyone!

We had a decent weekend, 1131 SWP (a bit disappointed that I picked the wrong L'pool striker for Inter Guru). At least I had Owen on my own team. Speaking of which, I thought I did pretty well, 1463 SWP, but only managed to move up a few spots. It's tough to move up in this game! :-( There's probably not a lot of roster differentiation this week, given the schedule.
Anyone have any thoughts? BTW can anyone clarify which 4/30 stats need to be corrected (according to the "Welcome" page)?

Moved to 99 Bubba. Also thought I would do better and I had Owen.
Looks to me like a lot of managers had the foresight to have extra trades, therefore the lack of movement. Pretty astute managers it seems, moreso than maybe other games.
Wish I had Hasselbaink instead of Heskey!

Congrats , VIDevilRays! You're right, I think the remaining managers who've stuck it out really know what they're doing!

Vid,You might be happy with Heskey again after tonight. On Saturday all he had to do was lure the Newcastle back 4 up to the halfway line, run sideways and there was a gaping hole for Owen to burst through. I think next week will sort it out.In my view -everyone used practically every available trade to double up Liverpool and Chelsea. The good managers can now switch all those. -managerial mind reading will be at a premium this week and next. With everything decided it's going through the motions time.Look at Ferguson's team last Saturday.Serious research required, but who knows before the Cup Final what team Wenger will play after it?! I wonder who is making up the price changes.Owen top gainer yesterday with no game next week! Gotta be fun with my tenuous grasp on 10th reduced to 11 points. El Tel

Bubba, the message about the 30/4 stats is an old message and you can disregard it as it has been sorted.
Still in 3 WWR this week, 40 SWP seperating 2nd from 5th !! Exciting. I kept enough trades over this week to move out of all my Liverpool and Chelsea players. Still on for a Top 5 finish it looks like, just 2 weeks left.
Do you think that the Top 10 finishers will get their prize after all this ?

Good question, Dai. Does anyone know if the prizes for hockey and basketball were actually given? BTW , Owen and Hasselbaink have each scored a goal (1-1 tie at HT). Woohoo!
