Congrats to the new FA Cup champs and their supporters (Dai, Liverpool were my fav team growing up). Props to Arsenal, they played well enough to win, but couldn't capitalize on their chances. I'm sure the Highbury faithful are lamenting the "handball". And, oh yes, Owen was magnificent. Can you say, "en fuego"?

I spent much of the weekend wondering how Patrick Vieira could end up on the losing side after one of the great individual displays.Props to your Liverpool for hanging in when most teams would have crumbled and inspired substitutions.Let's hope they can do the same in the UEFA. On a more mundane level Super Leeds matched my hopes. Can't wait for the SW scores since I had 9-typically missing the goalscoring duo of Smith and Bakke.Mucho pressure on Liverpool at Charlton, who are no pushover at the Valley. What a week for you,Dai. OH MY GOD !!!!!! I have just seen one of the best games of football in my 21 years !!!!! For a neutral, Liverpool vs. Alaves has to be the best spectacle of football you can possibly have, sending offs, 9 goals, extra time, last minute goals, own goals, mistakes, etc. I have spent the last 3 hours on the toilet !! :(
5-4 !!!!!! My Beloved Liverpool win the UEFA Cup, I just wanted to share this with my cyber footy mates, I am exhausted !!
God damn I take my football seriously !!
Gary Mac is endless, the true player of the year.
Dai
PS Good luck to all managers for the final game of the season, I hope it all goes well for you all.

Wait, Dai, don't leave yet! We still have to pick our Inter Guru team. ;-)
Damn! That was some match. I didn't even watch it, but it was exciting just reading the match report! How 'bout them Reds capturing the treble!!! They've gelled nicely, looks like they'll give Man U a tougher time in the Premiership next season.
As soon as you come off of cloud nine, Dai, what do you think your team's lineup will look like this weekend?
P.S. Stay tuned for the last installment of "Message Board Team." I'm excited, we're close to a top-300 finish, despite our late start.

Hey Guys !! I still cannot believe that match and the treble !! Houllier has done wonders but I think that the man who has made all of this work is Gary McAllister, what a player, and he was signed for FREE !! He has brought experience and gelled nicely with the younger guys.
There is talk of Liverpool signing Trezeguet from Juventus this week for £14m so with him there too then it looks good for Liverpool. I still think that they need another great centre back and maybe another solid right and left back but the side they have now should push for more honours next year and hopefully do better in the league. They always seem to go on a losing streak in November, they need to sort that.
I will post my feelings on this weeks games on the other thread !

Dai,aren't Arsenal after Trezeguet,or are you going to sell them Fowler?A right sided attacking midfielder would be my priority.Barnby,Smicer,Murphy stifle width. And the whole of England wants Gerrard in central midfield.Marcus Babbel would get my vote as Footballer of the Year.I'd add goalkeeping cover to the shopping list.It would be good if Liverpool, along with Leeds and Arsenal, can mount a serious challenge to Man U next season. I am an AC Milan fan sorry IL. Ever since the days of the 3 Dutchmen - Van Basten (THE GREATEST !!), Gullit and Rijkaard. I don't like Italian football much, too much diving. I am Liverpool through and through but I appreciate good football.

Dai, are you sure you're not my long-lost twin? I not only support Liverpool but I am also a tifoso of the rossoneri!! Ever since...the days of the Big Three. I'm bummed they haven't fared well lately. Maldini and Albertini are still two of my fave players. Now if they could only pick up Totti, my current fave Italian player of all, I'd be happy--and maybe IL would be happy too, since his hated Roma would be weaker :-)
By the way, IL it's nice to see your enthusiasm in the baseball boards. Until you came along I didn't know anyone in Italy followed baseball (my wife's family in Bari only care about Ferarri F-1 racing and the woeful Bari soccer team).

Gerrard had better watch out.The Canadian Welshman who plays friendlies for England under 21s looked an exceptional midfielder in the Champions League final.Bayern fans chanting Hargreaves will take some getting used to. El Tel (Inter are my Italian team)

bubba: i'm entusiastic in every fantasy game including football (my favourite team were the houston oilers, since an ernest givins spectacular touchdown with a mortal jump years ago) and basket (well, here my choice is strange because i like the clippers just because they're against the lakers (i hated them when they were against larry bird in the '80s). In Italian soccer there's too much diving, but if you only could see an S.S. Lazio match, watching The best defender in the world (Alessandro Nesta)....well, i'm sure you would became a huge fan of the Eagles (our nickname).....by the way i hope that you'll enjoy italian fantasy soccer next year and maybe we can create a league for us......
