0 Subject: Message Board Team (Final Weekend)

Well, here we are, the last matches of the
season. We're in good position, considering we
started a couple of weeks late, and are on the
verge of breaking into the top 300. Stupid me, I
just realized I never posted this past weekend's
team. Pretty much everyone that was picked up was
someone we'd discussed anyway. Here's where we
stand:

Inter Guru

Martyn

Harte
Ferdinand
A. Cole
Silvestre

Bowyer
Dacourt
Butt
Speed

Viduka
Wiltord

SWP: 36433
Div Rank: 5
World Rank: 319 out of 146703
Transfers Remaining: 4
SWŁ Remaining: 8,160,000
Lineup Value: 65,640,000 SWŁ

What four positions should we use our last trades
on? I haven't done any research yet but maybe
someone has some helpful news. Oh, yeah, I just
read that Beckham, Stam, and Solskjaer are
injured and won't be available. Will the teams
that had cup matches play their top players this
weekend?

Anyone else have anything? Dai (has your
Liverpool-induced rush subsided yet?), El Tel,
Sigh, VIDevilRays, anyone....

One more thing I wanted to add...our RotoGuru.com
division rocks!!! We could potentially have 4
teams in the top 50 (maybe 5 if the message board
team had started from day one). Great job, guys!

Bubba,

I think I would make these 4 changes if I was you :

Silvestre ----> Hyypia
Butt ------> Vieira/Gerrard/McAllister/Kewell
Wiltord -----> Owen/Hasselbaink

and maybe

Speed -----> Vieira/Gerrard/McAllister/Kewell

I would be very tempted to pick the best players from Liverpool, Leeds and Ipswich because it is guaranteed that they will all pick their best team with the Champions League place up for grabs. Owen has been on fire and I cannot see Liverpool getting anything less than 3 points after getting this close and Owen is the type of player who will get assists and loads of shots on target along with some goals. I got a feeling Stevie Gerrard is going to have a blinder of a game too, he is going in my team along with Gary Mac I think.

This week I am in two minds what to do myself. I am currently in 3 WWR and a Top 5 finish is more or less guaranteed so I am hoping for that TV ! But, I do want 2 WWR because I have pretty much been there since December, it makes for an exciting end to this truly awesome season. Anyway, do I go for broke and change my team from the rest of the Top 5 or do I play it safe ? Decisions..........

This season has been a great fantasy sports season for me and I want to come back next year, I just hope SW is here too. I think we should start a division of our own next year from the start so if you post your e-mail address on the boards then I will send a note to you all when the new season starts, sound good ?

Right, I am now off to the Silverston Racing Circuit to drive a Ferrari around, seriously, I am, it was a Xmas present and cannot wait, what a week !!!

Catch you all on Friday nite/Saturday morning !!

I'm in a wild position-11th and about 70 points behind Sozeres. We have practically the same Leeds concentrated teams,So I will have to make 4 last minute differentiating picks. And the world being what it is SW will be down when I go to make them.
Three teams have to win this week to have a chance of the third Champions League spot-Liverpool,Leeds,and Ipswich. The three prime candidates to be moved off our team are Wiltord(useless in Cup Final and dropped at Newcastle),Butt and Silvestre(Ferguson is taking the mickey and/or resting stars for forthcoming internationals).I wonder if Arsenal will rest Cole now that the single point is in the bag and he looks ready to be the England left back for years to come.Anyone still have any confidence in the Liverpool defense after last night? ;-)What an epic final!Congrats Dai,3 down one to go.Super Leeds will win.Have your boys got one more in the tank?Should I pick up the 'relatively' fresh Owen?
Decisions,decisions
Congrats to all on performances to date

Will weigh in on moves later. Now at 64 wwr!!! Thank you all for your help and sound suggestions. Dai-next year there will be a Belly in soccer! Needless to say you, El Tel, Bubba and me will be the first entries!

From the baseball boards looks like smallworld was bought, so next year looks good!

See you all tomorrow morning!

Ok. So far I have gone Cort-Owen, Butt-Gerrard and Hughes-Hyppia. One trade left and have no clue. Looking at Speed to either McAllister or Kewell.

El Tel-in your case there's no points for second place, if you know what I mean. You are trying for a top ten finish. If I were in your shoes I would differentiate. No sense in getting who were competition is getting.

Good luck!

So right,Vid.The differences in our teams at the moment are Mills/Kewell for me where he has Dabisaz/Vieira.Probably not enough.Wonder if/when he will trade. Can't find many differentiation candidates I'm truly comfortable with.Ipswich are increasingly tempting. Will certainly make a riveting afternoon's TV tomorrow.Luckily it seems the soccer site has avoided the baseball hacker.

Hey all. I have to run, so this'll be quick:

1) Ferarri? Damn, Dai, you are having too good of
a week!

2) I totally agree with differentiating,
especially in my position. By the way, El Tel,
which players are you picking, so I can pick
different ones? :-P Seriously, though, Ipsich
players might be good picks (Stewart,
Bramble)--Derby's not exactly the best team
there and they have a ton of injuries.

3) I agree with the wisdom of dropping Wiltord,
Butt, Silvestre, and Speed. I like Hyypia,
Gerard, Owen, and Kewell (or McAllister). Do you
guys think we should stick with all "big-guns" or
pick 3 biggies and a differentiation pick?

4) Sign me up for our division next year!

5) I just read on soccerupdate.com that Heskey is
doubtful.

6) Are people having problems with SW soccer? The
baseball boards are talking about there being
server problems. I hope this doesn't affect our
final week's moves.

Later!

Well, I have returned from driving the Ferrari at Silverstone and WOW !! What a beast of a car !! Saving my pennies now for the Ł150,000 price tag ;)

Anyway, back to the footy. I cannot see Liverpool getting anything less than 3 points tomorrow El Tel, no way ! Yikes, I have said it now, I just believe they have come too far to lose it now, they deserve the third place with the fixture congestion they had this year !!

As for picks, I don't know who I am going to go with for definite but my team SHOULD look like this :

Martyn

Ashely Cole
Hyypia
Harte
Ferdinand

Bowyer
Gerrard
McAllister/Kewell/Speed
Dacourt

Owen/Hasselbaink
Viduka

I am in two minds about the midfield position where I currently have Speed, the other moves are definite to pick up Hyypia and Gerrard but what about Owen or Hasslbaink and Speed, McAllister andn Kewell, hmmmmmmmmm, I think I will wait and see what 2nd, 4th and 5th WWR teams do and change it a bit I think.

Oh yeah, anybody heared anymore about the likelihood of some prizes for finishing Top 10 ?

Hey guys, I've been lurking here all season and although I've had trouble getting below 500 I've been making the most of your selection tips all season. So I wanted to thank you all for, unknowingly, helping me out and hopefully next season I'll have improved my knowledge enough to help out wth some tips too.
ps. my team is the chicken molesters in rotoguru.com league.

Nice to see you back Frank p. Say hi to your
Darwen End Rovers buddy (Dion H) for me.

I've just made the final trades for Inter Guru. I
dumped Silvestre, Butt, Speed, and Wiltord, and
picked up Hyypia, Gerrard, Kewell, and A. Smith
(!). We couldn't afford Owen (as it is we only
have 620K left in the bank with Smith), so I
figured I'd go with Smith (now just watch Robbie
Keane make a miraculous recovery!). I'm holding
off making transfers for my team until tomorrow
a.m. (I'm setting TWO alarm clocks to make sure I
get up on time). Decisions, decisions....

Here's our final team for tomorrow:

Martyn

Harte
Ferdinand
Hyypia
Cole

Bowyer
Dacourt
Gerrard
Kewell

Smith
Viduka

Good luck all!
