It's not a bad question. We're looking into it. Just out of curiosity how many people on this forum would be interested in a world cup game that was free to enter but where each trade cost $1? Basically you'd draft 11 players and get points for goals and assists and shutouts.

I will play a pay game... but not a "buy trades" game.

there is just no strategy other then "buy as many trades as you can".

I'm wondering, will this kind of game will be eligible to send prizes overseas?

erik if you need help we're here.....yes to a pay game, but no to a buy trades one, because in the first all entrants have the same chances to win, while in the second the one who spends more wins....

I'd play a pay game, but I'll never like the pay for trade format.....and I'd definitely be interested.

We are, in fact, doing this game as a PFT game with plenty of extra trades for NET (No Extra Trade) divisions. There will be no salary cap for this game and all players in the WC will be available.

erik i assure you that pft soccer games are pretty bad....i don't know why this way of build fantasy games is so "lovely" for you, but as everyone of us is telling you, it's really what your clients DON'T WANT......so, do you listen to us or do you just need us to take our money to tsn??
pft is a game that gives the opportunity to win to the only persons who can afford to buy the higher number of trades, leaving all others with the only opportunity to win a net division.
i think it's really not worth the money, and with all the others FREE fantasy opportunities i just will pass this one.
For all of you interested in free games, there surely be great ones on the following sites:
www.uefa.com
www.fantacalcio.it
www.fantafoot.com
....i'll soon add new sites, stay tuned.....bye.

p.s.: as you've seen i'm with you if you make a pay for play game, in which who has the ability (not the possibility) to choose the right strategy wins......money it's not a problem, the real problem is to play with the same chances of everyone. I don't even care about the fact of not been allowed to receive prizes, so i play for pure fun, but pft reduces the fun to a percentage near a fat 0.
And i pray you to note that this pft stuff really makes the winner's situation unclear and even if we all trust in you, as you deserved to be in all this years, someone should argue with that.....

I agree with my laziale friend (fatecelo vincere sto scudo, eddai ;)), pft is a horrible way of playing. Who's got the money wins, who doesn't (or doesn't want to use it for a trade) have it doesn't win.
You could try this kind of game with basket, hockey etc., but not with soccer. In Europe, we are masters of fantasy soccer games, and we don't need to pay for playing, because we have other choices (the sites listed by IRRI). So think about it...

I understand the motives behind PFT games Erik, and I do not fault you for wanting more profits. Nonetheless, I will not play a World Cup game if it is in the PFT format.

For all you soccer's maniacs: if you want to play fantasy soccer world cup, wait until the next 15 days because in europe fantasy sports are for free, even if they have, sometimes, not great prizes.....i'll tell you of every site i find, i promise.....for fantasy basket, bball, football and hockey we don't have alternatives to tsn, but with soccer we have really a lot......trust me....

Mist:

The game is going up today. Within the next hour.

Laziale:

We've had many, many disagreements over this and other strategies that TSN has pursued. My goal has and will be to balance the interests of TSN with those of our community. And I'll tell you straight out -- a PFT format was the only way we could build a WC game. Period. We didn't think we'd get enough paying customers to make it an Ultimate game, and we couldn't release the game as a free game (we're simply not in a position financially to do something like that). What we've done, then, is built a game where you could play in a NET (no extra trades) division and compete with your friends or PFT and compete for prizes. As a business manager, creating a situation where a game is free to enter was simply NOT POSSIBLE.

At any rate, you should take a look at the game. It's entirely possible to play it without spending any money. And we think it'll be the best World Cup game out there because it focuses on the players and not the teams. And by the way, all the games that you've listed, Laziale, are pay games with restrictions on prizes.

wait, i repeat, i didn't ask for a free game.
and all the sites i listed are FREE and will not charge anything to play (we play there all year long games about serie a, premier league, champions league etc....).
i can assure you that i would have played, and enjoyed, a pay4play game, and that i wouldn't play a p4t one, and so will do any other european with at least a nut of brain. It's not that you build your game badly, but it's because there are a lot of free alternatives, with games of all kinds about the world cup, and with no restrictions for prizes.

What? Pay for a trade? I've been away only a couple of months and already SW, sorry, TSN is coming up with that kind of a retarded idea! Geesh, I guess I should be watching you guys more closly!

BTW, I'm not going to play a game with that kind of an idiotic system. Period.

PS. Italy will take it all, while France will face the elimination in the first round. Remember, you heard it here first.

Samuli, you have 11 trades for all the tournament, if you want more you pay for them...I know it's such a stupid way of playing, but we can live without it.
About the World Cup...I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Italy we use to *touch our balls* to avoid bad fortune...and so do I! :)

another free game on the horizon:

Can You Kit It's Fantasy World Cup game is as usual free to play but no prizes and is likely to be a very popular game (with one entry per person). One cool thing to check out is that thanks to their partnership with Sportingstatz they'll be offering live updates and including attacking passes, tackles and saves in the data. A direct link to CYKI's rules is here .

and an "other":

World Cup Fantasy Flop

Select 11 players destined to have a woeful tournament in the Far East, i.e. to win, you should have the shakiest goalkeeper, the clumsiest defenders, most ineffective midfielders and wasteful strikers. It's all because you accumulate points for keepers and defenders conceding goals, strikers missing the target and everyone getting red and yellow cards. And if your team proves to be the most inept by the end of the tournament by topping the points table, you can win the star prize, an "Oasis" La-z-boy chair worth £1,100.
